What kind of games do they make? and aren't they at least impressed by Flotilla on a technical level (being gamemakers themselves)?
-
Well what kind of games do they play? If they're more into action games or something...Flotilla isn't for everybody; it's a niche title. I bought it on the 'BLIG because I think it's a cool idea and I wanted to support Blendo, but I still haven't played more than 60 seconds of it because it's not my kind of game. That said, I wouldn't call it boring, because there are a lot of games that I can see have interesting design but just aren't "for me" as they say. I guess the issue with your coworkers isn't that they didn't like the idea of a space-roguelike (if you will) but that they failed to see the blinding charm of the game's mis-en-scene. This all reminds me I really need to go back and finish Gravity Bone.

Edge of Twilight? I was so psyched for that one last summer. Edit: RE: the topic of the thread: I'm always quite thrilled when I see Amiga screenshots and videos and such...I've got an Amiga fetish without having ever seen or touched an Amiga. I don't really want to try and track down/buy one (at least not at this point) so what should I do? Are there any good remakes or books (like the big anthology someone published about ZX Spectrum games) or emulators or games that were made for that system which are now freeware that I could check out to get the Amiga experience? Is the Amiga as awesome as it appears to be? I know I said the thread was about specific games but I figure this is obscure enough that it's not a general recommendations request and I don't want to clutter things up with another thread that probably wouldn't get a lot of responses.

Finally finished: 37 hours of playtime, 24% completion. Slogging through to the end made me like the game a lot less but for the first 20 hours it was an incredible blast. Also, I just noticed there's an achievement called "perfectionist" which you get for reaching 75% completion. I think that's hilarious that that's their standard for perfection; it's like they're acknowledging you'd have to be nuts to actually try for 100%.

it's a 2D RTS designed for wiiware by the guys who designed the freeware version of de Blob (the de Blob IP was bought from them and turned into a full retail Wii game by a different studio).

Swords & Soldiers? Simon Parkin makes it sound awesome and I'm in love with the art style.

I imagined you putting a little sailor's cap on the game so that it looked like Donald Duck. -

Biting...tongue...so...hard... I would counter with Roy Orbison. To each his own and such...but I have to admit I feel that "Black Hole Sun" has one of the worst guitar solos of all time. -

I resent that, since I think Soundgarden is lame. -
This is for cub scouts (the younger kid version of Boy Scouts that you belong to until you're 10 and a half) so it's actually a pin (that's what they use). Boy Scouts, on the other hand, use the traditional round patches.

I just realized that Rico swims with a handgun in his hand. This game is silly.

I'm wondering what you guys think are THE must-play PC games from all eras, genres etc...which ones do you think make it well worth owning a gaming PC? What games would you present to me as your argument? Basically, I'm interested in hearing about what the PC has to offer me that consoles don't. I'm trying to decide if I want to venture out into the PC world. I'm thinking about trying to find something really cheap (relatively speaking) on ebay so I have a capable machine that's not top-of-the-line, but is good enough to allow me to get a taste of what's out there. Or something like that. I'm really conflicted about the whole thing and I'm not sure PC Gaming is even for me...it's hard to tell because I'm not used to it and haven't had a lot of opportunities to try it. Maybe you guys could give me a list of representative older games that I could easily get a hold of that would allow me to get a feel for what PC Gaming is about. Also: The games discussed need not be exclusives as long as you feel they're better played on PC. Have any of you made the transition from being mostly a console gamer to playing a lot of stuff on the PC? How do you feel about it? Is there a good, cheap way to get started as a PC gamer? I'm skittish about making a huge investment on a serious machine only to find out I don't favor it as a gaming platform. Anyone who's been around the forums a while knows I have a ridiculous inferiority complex about being a console gamer and numerous other hang-ups about PC gaming and I'm sorry for pushing it on you guys yet again. But I'm hoping maybe you guys can offer me the definitive guidance that will allow me to reach some conclusion on this and allow me to stop being so conflicted over something so trivial.

Turns out I only have two more agency missions, so it's actually not bad. It makes sense they would ramp up the requirements to unlock missions at the end of the game like that. And wow, I've done a lot of faction missions and a lot of military base destruction (about 30 hours played) but I don't know if I'll have the ambition, patience etc... to finish every last faction mission. Do you do that with most of this kind of open world games?

It's not a capella if there are ukeleles. -
I'm starting to think that the game asks too much of you as a prerequisite to the Agency Missions. I just want to complete the main story now but it's becoming a bit of a slog. I guess they were trying to pad out the length and gameplay, but they probably should not have made what are ostensibly side missions into requirements.

Ah, the noble sacrifices one makes for journalism.

This should probably be it's own thread. This one is more for asking about specific games.

Anybody tried the Split/Second demo yet? I have, it's really fun...racing + setpieces that you trigger to mess with opponents. Also...what do you guys think about the Blur beta? I found it uninteresting. It's like a Kart racer without kooky Video game heroes. Anybody play the full version of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing? I had kind of hoped that would catch on as a thumbs multiplayer event, but nobody's talked about it.

For some reason, I was looking through my spam folder and I came across this which I thought was kind of funny. Anybody else get any goofy-ass emails? Compliment Of The Day! It is understandable that you might be a little bit apprehensive because you do not know me but I have a lucrative business proposal of mutual benefits to share with you. Let me start by introducing myself. I am Mr. Hong Wu operations manager of the Bank of China (Shanghai Branch), 200 Mid. Yincheng Rd., Pudong New District, Shanghai 200121, China. I have an obscured Business suggestion for you. In June, 2003, a certain British Crude oil merchant (Mr.Martin Walker) came to our bank and made a Fixed (Numbered) deposit of Thirty Million United State Dollars (US$30,000,000.00) Only in my branch for 12 calender months. Upon maturity, I sent a routine notification to his forwarding address but got no reply. A month later, we sent a reminder and finally we discovered from his contract employers, the Chinese Solid Minerals Corporation that he died from an automobile accident. On further investigation, I found out that he died without making a WILL, and all attempts to trace his next of kin was fruitless. After proper further investigations, it was also discovered that he did not declare any next of kin in his official papers including the paper work of his bank deposit and he also confided in me the last time he was in my office that no one except me knew of his deposit in my bank. So, Thirty Million United State Dollars is still lying in my bank and no one will ever come forward to claim it. What bothers me most is that according to Laws of Republic of China, at the expiration of seven {7} years the funds will revert to the ownership of the Chinese Government if nobody applies to claim the funds. What I wish to relate to you will smack of unethical practice but I want you to understand something, It is only an outsider to the banking world who finds the internal politics of the banking world aberrational. The world of private banking especially is fraught with huge rewards for those who occupy certain offices and oversee certain portfolios. You should have begun by now to p! ut together the general direction Against this backdrop, my suggestion to you is that I will like you as a foreigner to stand as the next of kin so that you will be able to receive the funds so that the fruits of this old man's labor will not get into the hands of some corrupt government officials just like that. MODALITIES: I want you to know that I have had everything planned out so that we shall come out successful. I shall employ the services of an attorney that will prepare the necessary document that will back you up as the next of kin, and also he will be drafting and tarization the WILL and to obtain the necessary documents and letter of probate/administration in your favor for the transfer. There is a reward for this project and it is a task well worth undertaking. There is no risk involved at all in this transaction as all the paperwork for this transaction will be done by the attorney and my position as the Branch Manager guarantees the successful execution of this transaction. I have evaluated the risks and the only risk I have here is for you refusing to work with me and alerting my bank. I am the only one who knows of this situation, good fortune has blessed you with a name that has planted you into the center of relevance in my life. Please endeavor to observe utmost discretion in all matters concerning this issue. Once the funds have been transferred to your nominated bank account we shall share in the ratio of 50% for me, and 50% for you. I send you this mail not without a measure of fear as to what the consequences, but I know within me that nothing ventured is nothing gained and that success and riches never come easy or on a platter of gold. Please observe this instruction religiously. And I will prefer you reach me on my private email address: whong82@yahoo.com.hk and finally after that I shall furnish you with more information’s about this operation. Your earliest response to this letter will be appreciated. Do not betray my confidence. If we can be of one accord, we should plan a meeting soon after this project is successful. Please observe utmost confidentiality, and rest assured that this transaction would be most profitable for both of us because I shall require your assistance to invest my share in your country. Kind Regards, Hong Wu. whong82@yahoo.com.hk
