It looks like the nonsense tank physics are to do with rotating into vertical obstacles. I guess there's something wonky about how the physics engine handles rotation (at least in tanks). Perhaps it's to do with their having a zero turning radius.

I do. Cool! Yes, though Sweden did it first. Wait, was that a national-scale hipsterism?

And here's our perspective of that ride down the mountain:

WOW. That's atrocious, even by Facebook's blundering standards.

I always wondered what Fareham was like.

Dad I probably should have used a polarizer to get rid of the distracting glasses reflection, but I don't currently have one on that lens. Incidentally, I only just noticed Flickr's auto-tagging feature. It seems pretty good so far: The lighter tags were automatically generated. Obviously "monochrome" should be a pretty straight-forward thing to detect, but the other stuff less so. Now I can agonize less over my own inadequate tagging.

By that metric, other than being European, I'm not contributing enough to the country. Great!

This video is a horrible mess, but I do enjoy the moment when all the helicopters explode into view: I might do another version with less fussy editing And for this video, I couldn't decide what to do with the camera, so here are three versions:

Also, I've been making an effort to record more things for Rockstar Editor, so that I can make important videos like this one:

Note that all of your highlights involved sitting in a vehicle with me. I am a prerequisite for fun. I'll see if I can knock some video together this evening.

Official Giant Bomb Thread Mostly for Complaining About Dan
James replied to tegan's topic in Idle Banter
Wasn't that Denis Dyack? Or did Jaffe do something similar? Dyack turned up on some 1Up thing with a bunch of textbooks or printed materials or something to demonstrate that Too Human was definitely going to be great. As to bro-ivity, I don't think of Giant Bomb being particularly bro-ey, but I could very well just be blind to it. I think in the earlier days they were less sensitive about a lot of stuff, and I feel like they've matured a fair amount in many respects (although Dan obviously is a bit of a wildcard in that regard). My image of a bro-gamer is the sort of person being foul to strangers over Xbox 360 voice chat, but I'm sure there's endless stuff that I don't see because it doesn't bother me. I don't want for a second to question that anyone could feel excluded, or why they would, or how much that matters. As for GfW Radio, while I loved it, I think I do kind of think of it as being a bit more bro-ey. It may just be that my memory of it is as it having a very cynical outlook on the whole, but there was stuff that was kind of trolling or otherwise a bit mean-spirited. I found it funny, and it was often pretty thoughtful, but as I remember it they (especially Shawn Elliott) were often having fun at others' expense. Is that more bro? Is this whole breakdown kind of ridiculous?- 1367 replies

Oh, sorry to hear that. Hope you feel better soon. I suppose I can see the value in what you're saying, but to me it did just seem like a typical "let me tell you about how I don't like this stuff because I know better". I didn't consider the perspective of people who dislike the Bombcast but are considering the Beastcast, because I am a shithead who lacks empathy.- 1367 replies

I mean, sure, but would you post in the anime thread "I don't watch anime, it's just not for me"? Maybe you would, or maybe you've even already done that; I wouldn't know, because I don't have enough interest in anime in general spend time in that thread. It just seems a bit weird to jump into a discussion about a thing to tell everyone about how you don't like the thing they like. Which isn't to say that I'm above that, because I am also an Internet idiot, but I'm not sure what anyone is supposed to do with that information. It's not like you even had a specific criticism beyond giving a verbal thumbs down. But whatever, I must just be bitter because of what an enormous fanboy I am. Sorry!- 1367 replies

Personally, I enjoyed the inverted truck.

SMBC is one of the very few web comics I enjoy at all. It's pretty great.

Oh, that didn't occur to me. My only other encounter with the phrase was , which is not a site I associate with gun nuttery. Anyway, if it is meant to evoke "concealed carry", that's just pretentious and dumb in a slightly different way. The related articlessection on its Wikipedia page only cements my distaste for it. That said, it's a completely pointless thing to have an opinion about.

I saw a video years ago of a man chopping up boots full of meat. Was that them?

"Everyday carry" is one of those phrases that, while they have some conceivable utility, rub me up the wrong way. Others include the verbs "knoll" (which pretty much just means aligning things with the edges of a surface or container) and "grok" (which pretty much means "understand", but nerds like to feel like they're doing something more profound than that). Perhaps the irritation is that talking about these things enough to require special terms for them suggests an unpleasant degree of self-obsession. Or perhaps I'm just stuffy and don't like neologisms. "Everyday carry" sounds pretentious. We all have crap we keep in our pockets. It's not a big deal.

I am also interested in heisting, and also in making it so that there are too many people wanting to do the heist so we have to have awkward discussions about who gets to be in it and in the end we just give up and nobody heists. Anyway, here's a fun little teleporting joyride I went on with Patters: Here's another angle on Muerte's "Close Encounter" video: Here's another air race that left my nerves in tatters: And here's a few other clips, including a couple of run-ins with Muerte's sticky bomb antics:

It's because of the gaming socks and gaming boxers (not visible above) that I have no room for a gaming towel; instead I hang my towels in the bathroom like some kind of loser.

Since my last photo in this thread I've moved to the flat's other bedroom, but my desk is still a disaster: Since that photo was taken, I've replaced the computer under the desk, which you can't see, and replaced the two sets of headphones with a different, fancier set of headphones.

Has no-one commented on this amazing job description from the Sarkeesian Effect trailer? It might as well say "Game Developer/Has Internet".
