Has that been used in several episodes of Screenwipe/Newswipe? I learnt of that through People Like Us' latest podcast, which I recommend if you don't mind a variety of weird crap. I like both things.

Bizarrely enough, yesterday I was wondering how hard it would be to take out an important public figure such as a monarch or political leader (not that I'd want to do such a thing, but it surprises me that more people don't try). I came to the conclusion that to have a proper chance you'd have to be willing to sacrifice yourself and probably numerous bystanders as well. Turns out this guy was OK with that, which is pretty upsetting.
-
I have an idea, but will forget to do it, and am not good at making things. I'll try to remember to try.

See, I came across the Ammu-nation vans a lot earlier in the game, and you can't do that with them, so I presumed it was the same with the drug vans. I never even tried to just jack one.

If it doesn't actually affect the shading, wouldn't the term "cel shading" be a bit misleading? I guess "cel outlining" sounds a bit limp.

At my secondary school we had this thing called Activities Week in which each day was spent going to art galleries and theme parks and museums and so on, and these activities would generally finish quite early, so every day after we'd finished we went to the local bowling alley and played Virtual On. We had a little tournament and despite not really knowing what I was doing I won. This was due in part to the fact that the one guy who was really into the game somehow managed to lose his first match, so I never had to play him. He played that pink woman-robot who could go into crazy gold woman-robot mode when she was nearly dead. I played some dude with a sword. Then some Asian guys who were older than us who seemed like knew their business, possibly because of some racial prejudice on my part, came over and challenged me, and I beat the guy with cheap circle-strafing nonsense. It was not noble, but I was still pleased with myself.

That's the one. I spent way too long fiddling with that thing. I'm pretty sure that spiky ball thing is new, though. Each has appealed to me more than the last, but none enough for me to actually stick with it for long. Eden was aesthetically delightful, but I kind of tired of the gameplay, which is a shame because I always quite liked the ninja rope stuff in Worms. I guess I must just suck too much at games to properly enjoy it. Or I have an awful attention span.

Hahaha, that episode of pod-castage was the first thing I thought of when I saw what was meant by "cel shaded" in this instance. I'm a complete layman when it comes to this sort of thing, but it looks to me like something slightly unusual is done with the lighting or something, too. At least, there seems to be something beyond mere use of colour that makes things look a little ... I don't know, flatter. Or is that just the outlines messing with my mind? Like I said, I'm a layman; I may also be a cretin. Anyway, I quite like the new look, and am even OK with the outlines. A BILLION GUNS

I don't know, those guys always seemed to kill me as soon as they got out. Perhaps I'm just wank at on-foot combat.

Reminds me of worms and some little program that simulated different materials, which was cool except that everything, including water and fire, was a collection of particles that looked like coloured sand or something. Also, they're having a competition to name it.
-
Yeah, you just shoot out your window at them until the guy stops and gets out. You might want to stay in your car and kill him from there to stop him killing you, although you have to be careful not to blow up the van. The drug vans are much harder to steal, though. The occupants are positively vicious.

I bought it not having played the demo, and I'm now asking myself why. For as long as I could be bothered to play it, it was really boring. It was basically nothing more than something to do while I listened to music. Perhaps I picked an unsuitable soundtrack, but I feel Audiosurf has a much firmer and more entertaining connection its soundtrack.

Clearly it's South Africa. The nation of South Africa digs Idle Thumbs.

Mimes, Gospel Christianity and XTREME all in one website? That's astounding. Count me officially blown away. (Yeah, I missed the link the first time.)

Oh come now, be fair. They didn't say that. They said the achievements are better than human love. Who cares about games when you can have achievements? So, I sometimes listen to IGN podcasts at work because I get very bored and run out of other podcasts to listen to, and they have a bunch of stuff they're explicitly instructed to mention in every episode, such as pleas to favourably review them on iTunes and so on. Every time they mention that their Twitter is "IGNcom, no dot" it makes me laugh, and I wonder if the particular person saying that has visited the dotted incarnation.

This forum doesn't have skins or anything, does it?

Then I am also patient! I don't know, moving around the city is just part of the GTA experience for me (unless I'm getting seriously annoyed).
-
I've experimented with that, but I found it took a little too long for it to swing around to feel properly natural, and I was pressing it way too often, which was annoying me. I can tolerate the on-foot controls; they're just a bit fiddly and irritating. I need to get back into this game.

Oh, it does for me too, now. I think I was posting from a different computer, though. WHAT IS GOING ON?

YES! I'M NORMAL! Yeah, I think carrots are probably my go-to vegetable, or perhaps the Platonic ideal of vegetables, or something. I guess you could argue that telling people to think about something lots keeps them a bit flustered and encourages them to pick something obvious -- I'd guess carrots are one of the first vegetables children learn the name of, what with its distinctive colour and shape. Of course, that's assuming that if you just asked what the absolute first vegetable they thought of was they'd lie either to you or yourself, and actually try to catch you out, consciously or subconsciously. I don't really think any cues in the set-up have anything to do with it. I mean, Derren Brown (that limey dude) does similar stuff without the set-up (unless the set-up is entirely subliminal, a notion he generally encourages). Something to remember about trickery and showmanship is that part of the trick or the show is often to disguise what the actual trick or show is. In the former case it's to stop people working it out, whereas in the latter it's to make things more dramatic or impressive. Escapologists who seemingly come within seconds of losing their lives in some dramatic set-up generally have a much wider margin for error than it appears; they under-play their actual skill in order to increase the tension. Similarly, with this, I think the trick in this case is making the audience think the performer has some sort of control over their mind, when in fact they're just exploiting a cultural commonality. (Sorry if that was all obvious and redundant.)

Glad to be of service. The firetruck/firetruck/scooter/pedestrian collision was pretty hilarious, too. I forget who the pedestrian was, though. Was it Grippage?

I was going to suggest knocking together a simple function for it, but the ternary operator is pretty cool and I advocate using it whenever possible, even if it's not necessary, because I'm stupid like that. Anyway, it's a nice solution elmuerte, and I'm a little annoyed that I didn't think of it. To be honest, I didn't even know Javascript had the ternary operator. Incidentally, highlighting doesn't seem to reveal anything in Google Chrome. I don't use it a great deal, but I thought it was worth a mention.

I don't know whether robbery actually requires anything physical to be taken, but as I understand it it does require the threat or actual use of force. But yeah, I'd guess that's a translation thing.
