  1. Battlefield 1943

I enjoyed the demo, and was about to buy the full thing, but the friend I was going to play with did and was prevented from playing because of problems connecting to the EA service, so I'm holding off for the time being.
  2. Halo 3 Co-op

I should probably play this game some more at some point. IN OTHER WORDS, if you have a free space sometime etc.
  3. Left 4 Thumbs

IT WAS ALL PART OF MY MASTER PLAN. You see, by setting her off I guaranteed that she would be after me, and she couldn't reach me through that door. It totally wasn't an accident. I totally didn't think that the music was still for the other witch down outside the car park. I was entirely in control of the situation. I assure you. It's true, though: once somebody sets the witch off, she pretty much ignores everyone else. Besides, n0wak got an achievement out of it.
  4. Left 4 Thumbs

This may have been funnier at the time: odpcWiR1zbk
  5. Miffy495, Twitter needs you!

I have a friend who is a real friend from real life who signed up and never posted! I'm the best!
  6. Miffy495, Twitter needs you!

    Happy Saint Procopius day!
  7. How do TVs work?

The sensible advice that I've never followed was always to unplug everything in cases of thunder storms, presumably to account for standby and leaping-jack-flashoflightning, and so on.
  8. They're called *Video Games*

MY STORY: I read the thread at some point. I had nothing to say. I later clicked the "go to first new post" button, and responded to something that caught my eye, completely disregarding archaic ideas like "context" and "relevance". This is, after all, the Internet. (This applies to a large portion of my contributions to everything.)
  9. One of the greatest joys of GTA multiplayer is the ability to sacrifice your chances of winning for the glorious schadenfreude of really buggering up the people who are still going for first place.
  10. I was introducing tension! Because of me we got to shoot back at the police! It was a very good evening. Toblix's firetruck manoeuvre was glorious. There were also some very entertaining explosion and side-swiping hijinx later on, which I was on both the delivery and reception ends of. It's pretty amusing to be tootling along on your scooter only to suddenly find yourself travelling laterally at speed, still seated and upright (kudos, Nevsky). Also: Nevsky's ladder antics were a delight. For a second or two I considered the possibility that they'd smashed the fence down and it had repaired itself in the minuscule interim. Even GTA doesn't have a memory that short, though.
  11. We played TLAD for a few weeks, but came to the conclusion that the original is better. Bizarrely, they removed GTA race and the ice cream trucks from the DLC multiplayer. I really don't get why they removed anything, considering that every single person who can use the DLC already has a copy of the original. The baggage truck race was pretty great, though.
  12. July 5th

    Happy Tynwald Day, everyone!
  13. Awesome podcast... (only one episode so far)

Oh cool, I'm a big fan of the first series of Look Around You.
  14. They're called *Video Games*

Yeah, that, like many things, has annoyed me since I realized I had been getting it wrong. It's not as bad as "alote", though, which some person on a forum I went to a long time ago used to say. I have no idea where she got that from. I respectfully disagree with your dumb opinion. Actually, you may be right: if "altogether", "myself" and so on are acceptable, why aren't "alot", "inbetween", and "alright"? Perhaps it's because you wouldn't say "alittle". Either way, I've been conditioned (possibly by myself) to find it ugly.

    THE ETERNAL SHAME.
  16. Yeah, when I got the puzzle I was kind of surprised it took me so long. I think it's not quite obvious that the symbols are significant, since LBP levels tend to be decorated with that stuff anyway. Also, the fact that you're dealing with several stages of abstraction complicates things a little: you move the balls in relation to your ultimate goal, in order to control the rockets (possibly one level of abstration), which are in a different location (definitely a level of abstraction), only the distance is converted into speed (another level), which then has to be regulated in order to stop the rocket on the symbol, introducing a time component perhaps not expected in this puzzle; finally, this all then transfers into action back where your objective is, and the puzzle is complete. I don't know, perhaps I'm reducing things a bit too much, and it's a good puzzle idea and I wouldn't want to discourage you from doing similar things in future -- ultimately, having all that stuff going on made it fairly satisfying -- but I thought I'd share my thoughts on why it would take a while. It's not immediately apparent what you have to do and precisely how what you're doing will cause that. In retrospect it shouldn't be very hard at all, but I guess my retrospective view of myself is more perceptive than my actual self.
  17. [PROTOTYPE] In Stores Today!

Interesting. I'd always taken it to mean "this is an open environment for you to muck about in". I guess the actual original definition makes more sense.
  18. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Is it possible to be a crazy cat lady if you only have one cat? ypMl2RFTC9Y Yes.
  19. Movie/TV recommendations

Knowing was pretty bad, but The Departed is very good. I've yet to see Infernal Affairs. I wonder how it compares. I hear Scorsese didn't even watch the film, so I imagine they share only the basic premise. Spoiler for both films: This post is spoilertagific.
  20. The king is dead!

    Well someone does!
  21. I haven't bought it yet, but I will if we're doing forum matches, and we're doing forum matches, so I will.
  22. My Dad is awesome

    So, could you hear him?
  23. In reference to your PS3 mysteriously turning on, Chris, do you have the network wake setting turned on? I find that if I have that on, it just turns itself on all the time. It would seem my network has a load of wake signals flying around it or something. It's a bit irritating, because in theory being able to turn on and operate my PS3 by Remote Play when I'm not even in the house could be cool (even though I'd never do it). I'm no expert on these matters, but I suspect it might have something to my multi-router setup (well, one router is acting as a switch, but it confuses things somewhat, particularly since they're different brands, meaning the interfaces are different and don't have the exact same functionality).
