All scooters, all the time. No dismounting allowed. -

Are player names not showing up over people's heads? The text is pretty small (which I like, because it makes things seem all high-resolution and swish), so perhaps it's easy to miss. I don't know if you can make it more visible somehow. I haven't had too much of a problem, although I have occasionally shot some friendlies at point blank when I got caught by surprise. I might be able to do Saturday, depending on whether my friends want to go to the pub or something. -

MULTIPLAYER FORUM BUREAUCRACY -
I would like to be involved in something, but would probably hate to hear the results, and am also devoid of interesting insight and humorous flights of fancy.

I keep forgetting to check when I'm actually at my PC. I'm probably JamesM or TheJames or TheJamesM (in that order of preference). EDIT: It turns out my game name is JamesM. I've added those who have posted their names. LET'S ARRANGE A THING. -
We should all get into the habit of posting here about any multi-pack offers we're interested in. DO NOT FORGET.

No time to see alcohol, I've got GTA to drink (not a guarantee). -

We should organize a beta session. A full squad of Thumbs would be good. -

Might the free copy of Universe at War complicate things, then? Presumably that was already available to him. -
Am I not Thumb? If you cut me, do I not thumb?

YOU CAN KEEP YOUR SCIENCE, PROFESSOR I had something similar one day. There were plans to go to Brighton and these plans were not altered, so I spent the day walking around Brighton in fairly hot weather for England with my head at a distinctly non-vertical angle. It had begun to get better by the evening through gradually forcing it the other way, and it was fine the next day, but I looked pretty stupid for a while there.

I'm still only on second. It wasn't as painful as I thought, but the prospect of going for third without the incentive of an extra class slot is bothering me. It'll probably be ages before I get to that decision, though, if things like Mass Effect will keep preventing me from playing FOR A WHOLE WEEK. -

Sure. The billion-player co-op matches are pretty hilarious until the incessant jump sound effects finally get to you and you get a headache. That took about half an hour for me last time. I think I may have been doing the majority of the jumping. That game is pretty nuts. Looking at AvP, it does seem like it could be the most interesting choice of those suggested. The different play styles could be good. Or bad. Bad is the other thing they could be. Assuming they're not average, of course. I might still buy MW2 anyway, though. Don't judge me. -

As I understand it you can still do private games or form parties and ambush public games (if there's six of you there'll never be any strangers on your team); there just isn't any dedicated servers, so you're at the mercy of peer-to-peer connections. The trans-atlantic nature of our group could cause problems, I suppose. Perhaps. Then again, I've played against Americans and/or Canadians on the PS3 without significant lag. -

I wouldn't mind an excuse to buy MW2 on the PC. I kind of want it, but kind of wanting it doesn't quite justify spending the £40 (or less if I shopped around, I guess) when I already have it on PS3. Having a semi-regular group to play with would probably would. I WANT EXCUSES TO WASTE MY MONEY PLEASE. I think quite a few of us are friends on Live anyway, what with GTA IV and everything. There would presumably have to be a certain degree of organization anyway, so adding a bunch of alternative usernames probably wouldn't be too much of a hassle. As long as everyone had someone who had someone else and so on it should all sort itself out OK, I think. But I don't really mind, either way. I think you can get the Steam overlay over pretty much everything as long as you launch it from Steam, so we could set up a group chat and organize private rooms with passwords or whatever. -
Grand Thumb Auto XLVIII: Brown Power

Sorry I wasn't there this week. Trying to finish the original Mass Effect is making me horribly antisocial. It's not that I don't love you; it's just that I hate you and wish that you would die slowly and alone and completely without hope or solace. -
What's more, the person he got here through doesn't post and has never listened to the podcast either. Danny Boy is a very old friend of mine, and he knows Andy for some reason I have no interest in, and OH GOD NOW THAT BASTARD BLIGHTS MY LIFE. I love you really, Andy. I'm unwilling to disclose how much of that is dependent on last night's L4D2 victory, however.

Yeah, the single player definitely didn't grip me quite as much as the original. It had a disjointed feel, and some of the shock moments did feel a bit gratuitous. What bothered me more, though, was the departure from reality, into what many have described as Tom Clancy territory. Not that the original was very real, but it was convincing enough for me to suspend my disbelief, and it made the big moments all the more effective. To be clear, I really liked the single player campaign; it's just that it didn't have the impact of the original, and didn't feel as important. The multiplayer is great, too. I prestiged last week! I never bothered in the original. The extra custom class slot is what did it for me this time.

Who needs anything else? You can do the running man and gun fingers at the same time.

Grand Thumbs Autos XLVI: Just when you thought it was over
James replied to ThunderPeel2001's topic in Multiplayer Networking
Yeah, we don't do much in the way of videos any more. Nowak used to record them using a TV card. I couldn't bear to play in SD as that would require, but I did do a bit of budget recording with my camera. In case people don't know about it, the swingset in that clip is victim to a quirk of the physics engine that causes it to spazz out (scientific term) and occasionally launch people hundreds of any unit of measurement you'd care to mention into the air. Even astronomical units. Or this could happen. I'll try to be there this week. Not that I have a good reason for my recent absences. I'm just awful. -
How about something like this?

Two options: a) Play with friends (or forum-associates, or whatever) Mute everyone

toe blix My resolutions: Get new job Get new abode Not necessarily in that order; possibly simultaneously. I'm not being remotely ambitious, but there's every chance I'll fail anyway, because I'm useless like that. I've never really been one for resolutions. In fact, those aren't really new year's resolutions, they're just things I decided to do a while ago. I'm participating!
