Well it's pretty anecdotal, but I saw someone say that using shortcuts hurts performance, and someone else say using custom radio at all hurts performance. I've had some pretty bad hitching problems in general, and it seems like custom radio either makes it worse, or at least makes it last longer before easing up. Unless you've had problems, I wouldn't worry about it. If you have, do the obvious: test it with and without and see if there's enough of a difference to be worth foregoing it.

I put a shortcut to my whole music directory and let the game sort out what formats it could and couldn't play. A lot of those tracks really didn't fit at all, though, so I should probably curate the list. It also seemed to make performance worse than it already is, so I've not been using it at all recently.

Woke up to election news on the radio this morning. Not thrilled. Sure, UKIP haven't actually won much yet, but apparently they got 10% or more of the vote. If that's accurate, it's distressing to know that that's how so many of the people around me are thinking. And my constituency went from Lib Dem to Conservative. Arse.

Why do you still describe this person as your "mate"? I get looking past a certain amount of bad stuff when you have history with someone, but that sounds ridiculous!

Better start downloading now!

My compounding inability to reliably distinguish Toblix and Elmuerte is starting to make me feel really stupid. HOW EMBARRASSING. Sorry, you guys, with whom I've been playing games altogether too long for this to be at all acceptable. Anyway, the stuff that I managed to be present for was fun. I look forward to more.

Well, it runs. At a low resolution and with low graphics settings, and even then at a not-great frame rate, but it does run. What I ought to do is use the game to brush up on my bank-robbing skills, then employ them in real life to get the money for a halfway capable PC. I'd forgotten about all the multiplayer transfer stuff, which was nice, but it didn't bring over the cars in my garage, which is a shame.

There are a few of us on here who at least somewhat agree with you.

Thanks for that! Sounds like it's at least worth giving it a go, which I'll do.

Does GTA5 run OK on shitty old computers? I could really do with a new PC, but before that I could do with the money required to buy one. I'd imagine it's something of a hog, but you never know.

In my final year of university I lived in a roof room smaller than that one. The skylight used to leak and stain the wallpaper pink. The tap water stained the sink pink, too. Was there some sort of bacteria in the water up there? There is something quite fun about living under diagonal surfaces, though. It's a good place to put a student.

Milk bottles, sideways speakers, fans.

Could be. I briefly wondered whether it was some sort of deliberate effort, kind of like Google bombing. Like, getting a bunch of people to alternate between Feminist Frequency and Sargon of Akkad videos. I don't know how feasible that is on YouTube.
-
I must have watched something shitty on YouTube out of morbid curiosity at some point, because a bunch of GG-ish anti-feminism stuff, mainly by that Sargon of Akkad guy, started showing up in my home page recommendations. I clicked "not interested" on all of them, which eventually seemed to banish them, but now I'm paranoid that some algorithm somewhere has assigned me some sort of affinity to bullshit. As if that matters.

Some of those are amazing.

I found the last section of that page pretty weird. Does it prefer the politics of a constituency to be entirely homogenous so there are no "discarded" votes? I suppose it's just having a go at the first past the post system, but it seems strange to me.

Yeah, you might be able to manage it in a small community. The idea reminds me of the old cartoon avatars they used to have for reviewers on Giant Bomb — one each for every score out of five.

My German teacher at school had a story about getting a note from a child's mother explaining his prior absence was due to "dire rear". I imagine that's a fairly common one.
