Pretty much this. I fucking hate gamers

Saw the first episode of the new version of V. It's almost so bad it's good but not quite. If I'd had a few beers first I probably would have loved it but sober it was mostly just with the occasional One thing worth watching it for though, the alien's "evil" plan is hilarious <- actual quote.

Idle Thumbs 50: "Farewell, Video Games" or "The Shitty Wizard"

Hooray pointless nationalism (on both sides of the Atlantic)! -
HA! Shy or not I found a picture of you! For everyone wondering what n0wak looks like, here he is:

I agree with Erkki and vimes on the story criticisms. . On the positive side, I thought the Voodoo Lady revelation was good, although I'm concerned Guybrush is being set up as The Chosen One™ which is the antithesis of what the character is about. I'm also hopeful that we'll see LeFlay and Guybrush teaming up in the next episode, which has the potential to be pretty cool. The puzzle desgin was not as spectacular as episode 3 but it was mostly solid, the map puzzle in particular was very enjoyable. Overall I'd say it was a decent episode but it could've been a whole lot better.

Hee, if it makes you feel any better Ossk did something similar. You were both quite charming though.

A pleasant evening all round, good to meet you all. Special thanks must go to Thunderpeel for offereing to put me up after I missed my last train and special apologies to n0wak for the time that I kissed him. And also for the second time that I kissed him.

WTF? Is that just because you'll be outside of France or is it the same at home too? That's mental. I'll be the short, bespectacled, slightly overweight chap wearing a tatty, faded blue (practically grey now) jacket with light brown hair and an unaccountably ginger beard. I'll probably get there a bit early so if anyone fancies meeting up before 7 I'll be propping up the bar from around 5ish.

Idle Thumbs 49: Bargo Busters

Jake's bit about the great unhosed telling developers how to make their games better reminded me of the "Point and click is perfect! Change it back!" crowd over at Telltalle. Those guys were relentlessly nuts. -
Good to see other people interested in this. I've ordered the PC version, I can't imagine playing with a controller would be a better option unless it's significantly cheaper.

Thanks everyone I can't stress enough that I really am fine now though, it was just one of those days.

So we have flexible displays and people are communicating with waves now? Shit man, real life is turning into Firefly. We're living in the fucking future. EDIT: ZlWuc4dihqQ

So it seems awesome indie game developer Edmund McMillen had to have surgery recently. The silly bugger has no insurance and is asking for donations to help meet the costs. If you have played and enjoyed any of Ed's games, I hope you'll consider sending a bit of cash his way.

I wont be going to the Expo proper but I will be at The Crosse Keys at 1900.

After contemplating what happened on Tuesday it's actually kind of hilarious. The interview started off ok, not brilliantly but ok, until I had a minor brain fart that just snowballed. I frequently found myself halfway through a sentence with no idea of what I'd just said or what the question was and I consistently made technical errors that were beyond school boy. For instance I lost the ability to distinguish between < and > which, for a programming role, is kind of bad. So after the interview I got lost in the industrial estate, then I got lost in the residential estates in the surrounding area. Eventually I found a random pub, sank a few pints and decided I needed to start smoking again. With no shops to speak of I spent nearly £7 on a pack of 14 fags from the pub's vending machine only to realise there was no where to get hold of a lighter. At this point I thought I should probably head home so I went off to find the bus stop. The first bus didn't stop, despite my flagging, so I had to wait half a hour for the next one. The driver of the second bus then informed me that I was at the wrong bus stop anyway and this bus was going in the complete opposite direction. I couldn't find the right bus stop and finally found myself a taxi. Three arduous train journeys later I get to my home town and nip into the pub for another quick pint. I stay till closing, stagger home and then pick up an email sent a mere 8 minutes after the interview ended informing me that I was no longer being considered for the position. I am still hungover and today is my birthday. I'm well over the hump now and, as I say, I can see the funny side. I've got another interview lined up for the 6th now so it's not all bad. I'll just chalk this one up to experience.

Idle Thumbs 48: In Space

I'll miss listening to you when you're gone guys. Thanks for the hideous amount of time and money you must've put into this over the last year. -
I fucked up my second round interview royally, mostly because I'm a twat. Not changing my avatar was the right choice.

I don't necessarily think a sequel needs to be an improvement for it to be justified. I'd be happy with essentially more of the same but with different baddies and environments. That said, I wouldn't be opposed to making the detective aspects a bit more involved (instead of just following trails) or perhaps a section where you have to play as Bruce Wayne could be quite interesting too. I think there's plenty of scope here to, maybe not improve, but certainly try new things. EDIT: Same for me, Scrobbs

So Marek, did you get the chocolate?

Seeing John Cleese gurning in front of the audience after being splashed with water is pretty much the exact opposite of the humour in Monty Python.

My avatar was never meant to reflect my mood, it's actually a character from a computer game I am (was) making. It's based on Paddy Considine's character in My Wrongs.

Idle Thumbs 47: The Lord of the Donk

I never knew what my Turbo button did either but I loved having one. There's nothing cooler than pressing a button labelled Turbo when you're a kid. -
It strikes me that this will only be useful when it's open to the public anyway, so I'm happy to wait. Thanks for the offer though

Thanks very much. The interview was actually this morning (not sure why I wrote Wednesday) and they've already asked me back for a second interview! This has done my self esteem the world of good; I wouldn't say I was depressed but after a year unemployed I was definitely feeling a bit down. Hopefully I'll be moving to your fine city in the near future

That's mainstream? Ewww, what's wrong with people It certainly is weird to see Brutal Legend in that context.
