Horror/Classic Lit Mash-Ups Are Driving Me Insane!
SignorSuperdouche replied to Wesley Thomas's topic in Idle Banter
This, pretty much, is my stance. On the other hand if it sparks an interest in classic lit in those who wouldn't otherwise give it a second thought ... well good for them. Perhaps not the best example, but relatively recently there was a modernised film version of Othello set in an American high school. I watched the DVD with my mate and he loved it. Afterwards I told him it was based on Shakespear and he got into reading the original texts after that (he still refuses to go to the theatre because it's "gay", but whatever). -
I'm going out on a limb here, Hotblack, but are you a Hitchhiker's fan? Life has been kind of for me so far this year. It's either going veer up or down drastically in the coming weeks. We shall see.

I saw this on TV the other day - I'd forgotten how good it is. The same thing happened a couple of days earlier with Die Hard. Turns out Bruce Willis is pretty much The Man. My all time fave movie, though, is Blade Runner.

Actually, I have neither of those either. I made it up to sound important

That's nothing. I have a Gold Swimming Certificate AND a Cycling Proficiency badge. I think we all know who's winning here (That's a thumb pointing inwards at myself)

You know there's a new podcast out, right?

I loved Chris's Stalker stories, especially the suicide bit Also pleased to hear a brief mention of Subversion, I know it's a million miles away from release but I'm super excited about that game. In the Introversion blog post about the demo the developer compared Subversion to Frozen Synapse (at least visually) which I'd never come across before. That game looks totally sweet too 2lQQt4qc79Q -
There's a link to the EA Presents twitter feed right there in the post, or was that not there before?

Just to respond a little to this bit. I think the aspects of Fahrenheit/Heavy Rain that are unique are not the emotions they (attempt to) provoke but the way in which they attempt to provoke them.

Not the first games I played, but the ones that got me hooked were and

Oh man, I read the hell out of those books as a kid. When it comes to funny writers PG Wodehouse shits on pretty much everyone, but if you're looking for something similar to Adams or Pratchett I'd recommend Robert Rankin's The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse. As a stand alone book it's a lot easier to get into than his other works (which are part of an ongoing series).

Best piece of advice I ever got was this: People never find you boring if they need help. hTGtb3-AVq4

Jesus, do I know that one. I spent years hiding behind a facade of honour and chivalry, even to myself, when in reality I was (and to an extent still am) just a massive pussy. I've got nothing much to offer by way of advice I'm afraid, I just sort of slowly became more confident in myself over time, but I hope you find some solace in the fact that you're not the only coward in town.

I can confirm I signed in with my google credentials with no hassel at all. I even managed to post a post At this stage I'm not sure it's worth giving detailed feedback as I'm sure you're well aware of most of what I'd have to say anyway. Excellent work so far though Also, what does Möla mean?

Excellent news!

I was rather looking forward to seeing this project in action. You're as bad as Nick Breckon. Possibly worse, I haven't decided yet.

That's ace, I'm sure I heard someone say Marek in there too Can't remember if we've already had this one, but that reminded me of this 8IXCK1EyP4s

The long awaited Chris Morris film 4 Lions has recieved it's first review. Armando Iannucci just tweeted: I know it's not much to get excited about, but I'm easily excited when it comes to Morris. EDIT: Oh, and this has been released on youtube dZVfyQyu9RY

I read that as showing Tim's mind at peace, not that that is likely to be anywhere near the intended interpretation.

Ah, yes. For his career not in his career. I should try actually reading things in future.
