  2. Pigeons

Now you mention it, I've never seen them in the same place at the same time:erm:
  3. Orbitum

The space theme looks really nice I'm not sure I can really give any constructive criticism without playing the game for myself, but I'm definitely interested in seeing how you progress.
  4. Pigeons

The painting of Purple Tentacle on your wall goes some way to counterbalance your soul destroying cuteness.
  5. What the fuck is wrong with our country?

I was tired and being a dick. Pay me no heed.
  6. What the fuck is wrong with our country?

So what you're saying, Thunderpeel, is that it's ineffective but at least the cost of business was raised enough to put the smaller firms under? Sounds awesome
  7. The last game you played

I remember Voodoo Vince. I never got around to playing it but it looked pretty sweet I've been playing Neverball which is a free Super Monkey Ball clone. I've been stuck on the last level for a month and it's driving me nuts
  8. Pigeons

Yufster, you perpetually gnaw away at my cynicism bit by bit and I can't take it any more! Please, I'm begging you, please stop being so fucking cute. You're killing me
  9. Idle Thumbs 16: The Sources' Duel

This is completely off topic but you just taught me a new word, which is sweet. Cheers
  10. What the fuck is wrong with our country?

They're like THRUSH. Both the villains from The Man From UNCLE and the STI.
  11. New people: Read this, say hi.

Hey Six, you wouldn't be going to www.idlethumbs.com rather than www.idlethumbs.net would you? I was doing that a while back and had the same problems.
  12. Holy fuck! (For Bill Hicks fans only...)

This may well be the case for me. The first time I heard of Bill Hicks was about three years when I friend lent me a dvd of his stand up and I just didn't get it.
  13. Holy fuck! (For Bill Hicks fans only...)

For what it's worth I've never found Bill Hicks funny either. Seemed like a nice enough chap though.
  14. Linux insights, plz

You could easily argue that any discussion on linux will be a flawed popularity contest. The strength of is DistroWatch, in my view, is that it provides short summaries of each distro it lists with an explanation of the goals are and who it is aimed at. I like it anyway so bums to you
  15. Linux insights, plz

The toss up is always going to be between having a small footprint and not having to configure with shit to get it to work. DistroWatch gives a fairly good summary of the pros and cons of a ton of distributions. That said, you're probably fine with any of the major distro's out of the box. Fedora and openSUSE are both easy to use and well supported. Ubuntu is another one you may wish to look at, although it is not as stable as Fedora or opeSUSE in my (limited) experience, the features might be better suited to your needs. PCLinuxOS is another beginner distro that seems pretty popular at the minute although I haven't tried it myself. You can try any of these on a live cd before installing onto your hard drive.
  16. Million Dollar Traders

I watched the rest of this series last night and it was quite entertaining. I'm not sure what it says about m,e but I sympathised a lot more with If anyone is interested in more of the inner workings of the financial industry I can recommend The City Uncovered. It does simplify things to cater for the idiots and is full of irritating editing that kept distracting me, but it gives a good overview of the current financial crisis.
  17. LEGO Whatever

Oh man, I didn't mean it as a burn. It's just that it's quite easy to listen to the podcast and imagine two felt puppets and a dude talking about video games. I have a stupid sounding voice too. So anyway, I haven't played the LEGO games, although they are on my list of games I want to get so it's disappointing to hear that they may not be all that fun. Wrestle, how are your kids finding the game? Are they getting as frustrated as you or are you just being a grumpy old man?
  18. Movie/TV recommendations

BBC3 shows are rarely my cup of tea so I can't say I'm disappointed. I never saw the pilot but my impression was that it was going to be a lame soap opera with a gimmick.
  19. LEGO Whatever

Nick is the only normal sounding person on the podcast, you'll be fine. Go on, give it a go
  20. Movie/TV recommendations

In an incredibly lame move, Warner Brothers have pushed back the new Ricky Gervais film This Side of the Truth until 2010 and, even worse, renamed it Invention of Lying. What the fuck sort of a title is that? Anyway, I saw RocknRolla the other night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not as good as Lock Stock or Snatch, but not far off.
  21. Idle Thumbs 16: The Sources' Duel

I can definitely relate to controllers not feeling heavy enough. I don't know if it's just because it's not what I'm used to or what, but I really dislike things that feel lighter than I'm expecting.
  22. Oh, boy!

I though this was going to be about Quantum Leap
  23. Million Dollar Traders

Not really, I think it's just the show has simplified the what is happening to the point of being misleading. When you buy a share in a company what you are getting is a share of the dividends that that company will pay out at the end of the year. The more efficient and profitable a company is the higher the dividends are likely to be and therefore the higher the share price. What these people are doing is rather than making money from the dividends, they are making money purely on the buying and selling shares themselves - but the price of the shares still has a direct correlation to the expected end of year profits.
  24. Million Dollar Traders

Yeah the comparison to Big Brother wasn't fair, it's not nearly that bad. I was just a little disappointed by how all the detail was glossed over.
  25. Million Dollar Traders

I think this is just as much a legitimate look at the inner workings of the stock market as Big Brother is a legitimate psychological experiment. No effort has been made to actually explain what short or long selling is or how it works, it's all about the human interest angle. Or at least that's how it seems from watching the first episode. They may go into more depth as the series progresses, we'll have to wait and see, but I doubt it.
