I watched both Sin City and 300 without reading the comics and I thought they were both sweet. They're shallow but they're also visually interesting and gratuitously cool. What's not to like?

Contest: With Saitek Cyborg
SignorSuperdouche replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Is that a really obscure spaced reference or am I reading too much into that? Because a spaced reference like that would make you super fucking cool -
The draw of this game at the time was that the graphics were incredible. If you make it more interactive then you can either stick with the hand drawn animation and hand animate every possibility or go for more traditional computer graphics techniques and loose the game's visual appeal. Neither option would really be viable. I think Dragon's Lair is important as a failed experiment to learn from, but it could never be a game I'd want to play.

The problem is that you're too sophisticated. Sophistication is something you have to really lactose-ee a good pun.

Dollhouse has been kinda so far, but I'm more than willing to stick with for a while yet. Also, I don't know if it's just me getting older but, I'm finding the buffyspeak type stuff forced and grating rather than cool.

Well it can't go fromage longer can it?

I disagree, I think we'll rennet of puns pretty soon.

Come on ysbreker, you can do cheddar than that.

If you mute the video and listen to Black Sabbath over the top it becomes awesome. It's more Brütal Legend than Brütal Legend EDIT: replaced u's with ü's

The last song you got stuck in your head.
SignorSuperdouche replied to Nachimir's topic in Idle Banter
by Liquido has been stuck in my head for about two years. They're always playing that song in Germany. -
Italy's least wanted painting is my favourite. It's got Elvis and a motherfucking power ranger!

That's standard for text adventures. Our very own Ziggy is a Z-machine interpreter (with extra bits). We should try this on the forums once we're done with Vespers.

Generation Kill sounds like it'd be right up my street, is it due to be repeated in the UK any time soon or have I missed it? Since everyone round here (and Charlie Brooker) keeps on bumming The Wire I thought I'd give it a go. I got the first season out of the local library and, IGN.com jokes aside, it blew me away. I only allowed myself to watch one episode per sitting, revelling in the desire, nay the need, to find out what's going to happen next. Sadly the library only has the first season, and I can't really afford to buy the DVDs right now

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with pop music. Not everything has to be art, sometimes it's ok just to enjoy a catchy tune for what it is. It's no worse than watching some dumb action movie like Die Hard.

Just testing if ILDE THUMBS IS BROKEN! [It's not]

That makes a lot more sense. -
Just testing if ILDE THUMBS IS BROKEN! [It's not]

Maybe it's being interpreted as a command line argument as the message is being passed between programs? Kill on it's own wouldn't do anything so it's not a command being executed. -

Oh you get a sever error? My guess then is that the input sanitiser isn't working. /kill probably terminates the process on the server. -

So is this a false positive from the input sanitiser? What happens if I put in some html like this Bold text EDIT: Nope, worked fine -
Here's a neat clip on youtube from the start of the show on for those not in the UK.

I just watched Ketch! And HIRO-PON Get It On and it was stunning. It's a BBC3 show starring two fantastically good physical comedians with a surreal, twisted sense of humour. UK folks can catch it on the iplayer. It's kind of like a Blue Jam sketch performed by the Chuckle Brothers

Crank had huge potential to be delightfully mindless fun but disappointed me at every turn, although I am cautiously optimistic for the sequel. Most of my gripes stemmed, I suspect, from the inexperience of the writers/directors so hopefully they'll come back with something a little smoother around the edges this time.

Idle News Podblast - 02/05/09: With Joe Pesci
SignorSuperdouche replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I often get confused between Joe Pesci and Joe Pasquale. I'm not even being facetious, I genuinely get them mixed up.
