As a Sherlock Holmes film I don't doubt it will be a travesty, but as a Guy Ritchie period romp I expect it will be thoroughly entertaining.

"There is no uncanny valley any more," declares French developer
SignorSuperdouche replied to Wrestlevania's topic in Video Gaming
David Cage's games tend to be noble failures (I've only actually played Fahrenheit myself, but I've heard the same is true of The Nomad Soul) and, if nothing else, seem to be unique enough experiences to justify playing them through. I'm still interested in the game even if I'm not terribly excited by it. -
Happy birthday chap! I'm having difficulty drawing my hand though I'm afraid, it such an awkward shape I may have to get you something else instead

Monkey Island 1 special edition coming to XBLA
SignorSuperdouche replied to Marek's topic in Video Gaming
If it comes out, and if it hasn't been meddled with too much I'll be ecstatic, but until then I'll have a nagging worry that this will be a) a hoax or the Video game equivalent of the star wars special editions. -

I don't know what to say that wouldn't seem either glib or trite, Patters, but feel free to vent away. I hope life gets better for you soon.

And I could send you something like a signed drawing of my hand.

Idle Thumbs 28: Other People Get It
SignorSuperdouche replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
The Blade Runner game is really cool, but Westwood were a bit overambitious. The game was quite obviously unfinished in certain areas. There was also on annoying reliance onlocations from the film - constantly being half an hour behind Deckard might seem cool to start with, but it just gets silly after a while. Still, they nailed the atmosphere perfectly -
Box Art Design Challenge 2: Duke Nukem Forever
SignorSuperdouche replied to DanJW's topic in Idle Banter
Bigger version EDIT: I've updated the image and link after I made a couple of slight changes. Any suggestions for further improvement are welcome. -
The linux version appears to be missing a lib folder, so I created one and copied and pasted the JARs over from the mac version. When I ran it my display went completely mental and I ended up having to do a hard reboot. It seems to have moved icons about on my gnome panels too, which is odd. I recommend other linux users proceed with caution. Still, I appreciate you sharing your app Nappi

I like the idea of that one, but my brain keeps telling me the logo is a partially obscured 8 ball. -
I'll definitely be at the Independent's Day talk, and hopefully one or two other's. Word of warning to Ossk, if you use trains at all in the UK, especially on a Sunday, don't expect them to be on time. Or suitable for human transportation.

It's pretty well known that Guybrush comes from the fact that the file name of the sprite was guy.brush - I didn't think it was George who suggested they keep the name though.

Darkfall NERDRAGE against Eurogamer.
SignorSuperdouche replied to The Devil Tesla's topic in Video Gaming
I think you might be on to something there actually, especially if you look at something like metacritic rather than individual reviews. -

I realise that this is completely irrelevant to your point, and I'm a pedantic dick for bring it up, but that's not how that works. If we assume, for the sake of argument, review scores are normally distributed then a 4/10 game would probably* be in the bottom 25-30%, depending on the mean deviation. Once you factor in that game review scores are notoriously negatively skewed then you're probably looking at bottom 5-10%. Sorry, I'll stop being a massive nerd now. *Actually that's a massive stab in the dark, I haven't done stats since high school and I pulled those numbers out my arse. The principle is sound though. -
ysbreker made a near identical post on the previous page. Still, it's pretty nifty.

Haha, no way! Well fair play to you, you're certainly commited. I have to say that even though I think you're attitude is pretty daft, and in the case of "peruse" you're asking to make yourself less clear, I love that people like you exist. That's awesome

I see where you guys are coming from regarding Topher, but there's two points I'd like to make on that front First, at the nub of it Second, I agree that Topher was wrong to completely rule out the possibility - especially given prior events. However I saw this as being part of the anti-science motif as, throughout the series, they depicted scientist as arrogant, stupid and evil: You've got Topher who's arrogant and incompetent. Rossams head scientist who was also arrogant and I recall DeWitt claiming the only reason he was promoted over her was that he's too incompetent to have her job. The research student who was shown to be greedy and unrepentantly callous. OK, so it's not a massive list, but that is all the sciencey people in the series that I recall (or at least the ones who were fleshed out enough to know anything about them). I don't know. If nobody else sees it the way I do maybe I'm looking at it all wrong, but I still genuinely feel there's an anti-science theme to the series as a whole.
