A Rudimentary Poll: PC or Consoles and your gaming background
Coldkill replied to Squid Division's topic in Video Gaming
PC. I started gaming on the SNES going through Megadrive, N64 and a few other consoles up to the current gen. I get games for my consoles but once I complete them, I go back to playing on my PC which has a much larger library of good games for it. -
When I grow up, I want a daughter like that!

There was that Blizzard employee who had all his data leaked after he posted his real name on the Blizzard forum, pictures from school, Facebook account, pretty much everything that was available. The thread had to be pulled because this person's life was just out there on the Blizzard forums. If you've ever seen the darker side of the internet you will know that a name is all anyone needs to get your information. People have had their home addresses found, they've been stalked, threatened and had their property damaged or destroyed. In fact, there have been cases of just photos being used to identify people and then get all that information. If I choose to give my name to someone in real life, and I have refused in some cases, I've already gotten a feeling about that person, who they are and what their intentions are. You know what they look like, you know what to expect. If someone tracks you down that's anonymous, you could have no idea it's happened until they've beaten down your door with a crusty old french baguette and are throwing bottles of wine at your head.

Really? They advertised it like it was a modern, life changing piece of technology that has never been used before the 1980s?
-
Or you could buy a phone that doesn't suffer from this nonsensical issue.
-
So what... you're not supposed to hold it to your ear? What the fuck is this? They should have realised that people hold phones, gripping on as tightly as they can to avoid the huge waste of money falling from their hands and smashing at their feet.

The iPhone is a phone, so that makes it as relevant as a phone is in the modern world (so fairly relevant). But competitors phones can be more open, as an example, Windows based phones can install applications from anywhere without the need to go through a manufacturer controlled shop. The fact that you can install whatever you want and use the phone as an external hard drive make it more relevant than that iPhone. Sure the iPhone can have those features, but you have to jailbreak it. I say you shouldn't have to, it should be as relevant as competitor's phones without ballsing about with the OS. Apple's entire brand is based on that status symbol of the hip, young, up to date person who's cool and gets all the girls, the Mac ads are a prime example of this. That is how Apple market themselves, it's no secret. That makes any Apple branded product a status symbol. Ok that's great. But it should already be a great phone without the need of jailbreaking it. If I went and bought a brand new car, I shouldn't have to then modify it to make it act as well as other cars in it's class.

You shouldn't have to jailbreak a phone to make it relevant, it should already be relevant . Apple and all their products are status symbols, some of the tech in this phone was in phones a generation ago, although the screen resolution is very impressive.

That pretty much sums it up for me. Simply put: what the flying monkey flinging fuck was that?

I'll try it, but my computer meets the recommended requirements which really annoys me. Ah well, here's to trying!

I'm playing the Steam version (PC) and get some horrible graphic problems. It seems like there's a huge memory leak as well in there. At the moment, it's unplayable which is annoying because I don't think I can return it for a refund.
-
Is it just me that's having unbearable graphical issues with this game? I'm only able to play for around 2 minutes before the game just... well gives up and fucking dies.

I played through 3 or 4 times and managed to save my entire crew. There is actually a formula for keeping your crew alive: I'm really wishing I could play as Legion, I find it the most interesting character, especially with the back story on the Geth. I'm now left with nothing left to do in the game, but with the ability to carry on playing .

Yeah, that's pretty much what IP.B 3 is. The kernel is the only thing that is actually installed. Even the forum is a module, along with everything else.

Good luck with it, I don't think I've heard of a successful Java based forum system before. Home Theatre appears to use Invision Power Board 3 series, which is itself an extremely powerful system (and far better than vB's current offering). It also appears that in v4, vB didn't actually completely rewrite the core, but amend parts of it and duct tape it together.

Murdoc: I agree with you on the ending. It's disappointing to see when you've just spent hours completing the game to be presented with a single line and nothing further to do other than cue the credits.

I've read that Dragon Age has around 75 hours of gameplay in it, it's taken me over a week of continual playing to complete on a Human Noble Warrior, but I did thoroughly enjoy most of it. I actually found I didn't really like the combat, mostly because I come from an FPS background and just sitting back while my character seemingly missed most of their attacks became frustrating, but eventually worked out for the better. The character interactions were quite good though, a lot of talking, but it was quite interesting the first time. Time to replay as an Elf I think.

Just received my Modern Warfare 2 in the post, on the back: "Modern Warfare 2 blew us..." - IGN.com

I did play MP, I felt that's where the repetitiveness came out. Really it played like ring around the roses in that you would just go around the map recapturing control points, until someone threw a spanner in the works and decided to defend a point once.

I don't really like DoW2, I felt it was very repetitive and well... rubbish.

Ooh oh oh! Can I have an invite please
