Granted but there wasn't even any real discussion. Just bickering. I understand why, but still...
-
And seeing as it wasn't actually what you could call 'a review' either, I concur.
-
Apologies - didn't realise the next episode was already out.

Ah-ha! This game continues to grow ever-more interesting. NB: I saw Fat Rab playing last night, so I'd expect a videoGaiden review imminently.

Typically but not universally; I can't think of a more simplistic, knuckle-dragger of a game that's had this much unwarranted praise heaped upon it. Sure, it's pretty -- well done, developers. But in terms of gameplay, I expect something a bit more substantial than holding a tin foil-wrapped WWF figure in front of my TV and making "pew-pew!" noises. And, when put like that, I find some solace in imagining what the concept meeting at Epic (Mega)Games was like...

Vista has added Patronising Cattle-prod Technology, which requires you to click 8 other alerts before you'll allow it to ask you if you'd like to restart later. Echoing Leo Laporte: Vista is the new ME.

If it makes you feel any better, toblix, Gears of War is a turd of a game in my opinion.

Greek and Norse mythology were my bedtime bread and butter as a kid, once I was old enough to read stories for myself. You're not alone in your confusion about this pointless puff piece Hollywood farted out. No word of a lie: I felt physically sick as the names of those responsible started to crawl up the screen.

No, I confess: palette rotation tricks like this, used to circumvent memory - and therefore asset - limitations, are very clever. But they're rarely this subtle, hence some genuine surprise on my part. It's usually just a previously-seen character suddenly appearing in some dog-awful fluorescent colours, whilst sporting a different (though thematically similar) name to the earlier iteration. Scrolling beat 'em ups are the epitome of this and I'm fairly sure I've played just about every noteworthy scrolling fighting ever made...

That's right; T, Thumb's unofficial baby, is a whole 1 as of 8:53am GMT this morning! Happy birthday, Junior!

That's disappointing. I'm playing it in Safari on my aging Windows laptop and it's running pretty smoothly, although the game has a habit of completely locking up after extended play. Have you tried turning off sound? That's supposed to help. Looking forward to the offline version becoming public though, as browser plug-ins have always been notoriously bad when it comes to memory leaks.

Join the HD revolution, or remain forever ignorant. ...at least until you go looking on Wikipedia, anyway. Or hit Ctrl+A. It's a great game -- everyone with a 360 should buy I think.

Ah, I've been meaning to read the 'Story' section in the options...

Second session tonight and I'm definitely improving: Which means I managed to get the 'bad' ending: I now have Score Attack mode unlocked, which is very addictive. I've not beaten the top score yet for area 1, but I'm pretty close. As good a reason as any to replay the stages at least! Having been through it twice now, area 5 is definitely my favourite: Has anyone tried the special effects (under 'Settings & Help') yet? I tried out Bloom right at the end of tonight's session and noticed a couple of things: NB: Sorry for all the spoiler tags, but I'd like to preserve as much of this for new people as possible -- anything to make sure Rez HD is as unique and surprising as it can be.

Rather infuriatingly, I can't get anywhere near my highest score now. Probably trying too hard. So I'm going after achievements for some variety, see if I can pick up any point-scoring tricks in the process as well.

Unofficial Baby Thumb's 1st birthday today!

Cute! (In a "cuddly human offal" sort of way.) -
Well, yes, there's no denying it's clever. But there's no denying you've just wiped your arse on half-a-dozen Thumbs' childhood memories either.

You have just single-handedly steered this Titanic-of-a-thread into an iceberg-of-a-euphemism. Abandon ship! Could we also update QotM with the above quote, please? Superb -- I should read this more often.

You big fat fraud! Also: Well played, Sir!

A pith helmet, dear boy!

That's cool. I only made comment in the interests of not sounding like I was bashing the software line-up. Reviews of the latest Warhawk add-on are beginning to appear today and it reminded that that was another current PS3 game I liked the look of.

Carmageddon was and remains my very first love when it comes to driving games of any kind. Raptor Safari is very similar, which is why I think I'm enjoying it so much; the way the jeep handles is nigh identical in many ways. Top Tip: Drag freshly mown-down raptor corpses, by hooking them with the spiked ball (hit spacebar to deploy/sever), into exporters - which are those glowing teleporter-type pads around the level - for huge points. Make sure you have a good look at the driver next time you play, too... And also make sure to post your scores, fellow Thumbs! Let's see if we can't get a respectable scoreboard - not to mention some healthy competition - going in this 'ere thread.

I really hope they add the concept of friends and maybe user-created scoreboards -- or even leagues! Leagues would be amazing fun. I think the game has massive potential as being a light, competitive multiplayer platform. I can already imagine things like "Hunt the Raptor" team play, which would have two groups of jeeps charging about the map trying to score the most points. Can but dream; I may write to the developers and see if they'll chat.

I was about to come in here and confess that Warhawk does seem to have potential too in my mind. What's in the pipeline generally for PS3 sounds superb; Gran Turismo 5 sounds obscenely good for example, especially with the slick Home integration that seems to be coming along with it. And Little Big Planet looks like a neat co-op toy too. I may well buckle at some point in the next couple of years and add a PS3 to my collection, but I want to see how it pans out first. I'm also more than happy with my 360 right now, plus I don't have the funds (unlike yourself).
