And cheating.

A real face-melter (or "Hayfever's a right b*st*rd!")

You jest, but after Sunday it's a very appealing solution. More so than tramping through some nutter's mail order turd anyway... -

A real face-melter (or "Hayfever's a right b*st*rd!")

It can sometimes be worse in the evenings than during the day, as a lot of the finer pollen falls back to earth en masse as the air temperature drops. I suffer the most early in the morning and late in the evening, which is why Sunday's sudden 11am-ish attack took me by surprise. -
Metal Gear Solid 4 - Guns of the Saucer Men From Mars

Blimey, sounds even better than I'd hoped. Really need to fix that donated PS2 in my wardrobe! -

Tried Portable Ops a few weeks ago and something about it instantly rubbed me up the wrong way. I may have to try again based on your recommendation though, Miffy. But Metal Gear AC!D... now that really is a bloody good game, portable or otherwise! -

Bio-hacking, awesome. But no thanks! Mine's not respiratory-based anyway; it's just my eyes that are affected by it. -
Metal Gear Solid 4 - Guns of the Saucer Men From Mars

A former colleague in my last job went on to work for Play when we all got made redundant; they're dogmatic about holding to street dates, so I wouldn't get your hopes up. Friends have had titles land on their doormats on launch day itself, however. -

Can't say I'm a fan either, sorry. Wouldn't ever use hate, but I do think it's often quite ridiculous to the point of being stupid on occassion. I liked the original Solid game though, too, but struggled to stick with the second one and never bothered with the 3rd. I'm still keen to play Subsistence however and still covet a PS2 partially for that reason (among myriad more important exclusive titles). I do like the look of the 4th and I'm genuinely jealous of PS3 owners in that regard. But I can't say anything beyond the aesthetic here really appeals. You can't fault the character or equipment designs if you ask me--the branding is rock-hard. -
I'm gearing up to badger my brother-in-law in to buying Boom Blox for his recently-purchased Wii, once he's back from his training course. I've not heard a bad thing about it.

"All the headlines you really want, in a place that doesn't exist!" It is somewhat spiritually crushing.

NO NO NO NO NO (neuromancer the movie)

What next, a Sean Astin remake of Caravan of Courage?! You heartless bastards! :\ -
I'd definitely say the latter, but has only had the commercial clout to wrestle the reins away from anyone else now and keep them pretty much for himself. That's how I've determined the gulf in quality between the original Star Wars films and the new ones. It also surmises what happened to Indie (to my eyes) pretty plainly, too. And, as I've said before, Spielberg's not made an important film for well over a decade. It wasn't a match I expected great things from, but I'm still staggered at just how shitty the outcome was. If you haven't already, go and see Iron Man. Mrs V and me did a couple of weeks back and it's great fun; good characters coupled with a well-paced story and excellent performances from Downey Jr, Paltrow and Bridges.

NIN have released another batch of free music, this time a sampler from their new Lights in the Sky tour: Haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but the line-up's good.

Have a most excellent evening and partake of many fermented beverages.

Decided to sit dawn (in-game) last night and sample the TV a bit. Had to turn it off again after 15 minutes, as I was laughing so much I was in danger of waking up the kids. Republican Space Rangers was a particular highlight--hence the change in avatar again. And note the armour design.

Simply can't beat Kenta Cho, he's consistently brilliant.

It's still worth doing I think. Oblivion wasn't a slight game by any means, so I'm sure there are still lots of people out there who still haven't played it properly. Like me. (Tried a couple of times but just can't get into it.)

It's Master Grouch, fuck-nuts. Any of your works you care to put online in some form? I spent years studying Art & Design in college and university, but don't have any of my portfolio left to hand now.

Battlestar Galactica Final Season Thread
Wrestlevania replied to Marek's topic in Movies & Television
Heh heh heh, nice! I'd expect his motives and interest in Lee Adama to become much more deep-seated before The Big Reveal though, assuming he's the Fifth. -
For all the Blu-ray hype, Planet Earth is the only thing I've ever heard people reliably and repeatedly say is worth actually upgrading to Blu-ray for. I'm tempted, but skint. Otherwise I might be swayed towards getting a PS3 just for this - it'd be an amazing thing to have for my kids, seeing as they love the couple of newspaper freebie Blue Planet DVDs we have kicking around at the moment. Would need the dirty great HD telly to go with it, of course...

Not owning a DS for quite some time now, I've not been taking a particular interest in portable Nintendo releases. But I'm intrigued by Activision's approach to Guitar Hero on the DS - at least from a hardware point of view: Given that they won't have the opportunity to foist their gods-awful 3D characters and sets on the modest DS, I'm wondering if they might not make a hash of this iteration. Arguably it was more the deliberately-hobbled response times (on previous hardware) and the generally soulless song collection that truly ruined #3. And you can only expect the track selection here to be even more twee, random and Pop-y. Still, I certainly like the way the cart and add-on controller are combined into a single unit. Very smart. Strumming the touchscreen looks a bit wanky though--like some metrosexual having a PDA failure.
