Idle Thumbs UK Episode 1: Fireside Chat
Wrestlevania replied to Marek's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I agree. I enjoyed you two discussing games, very interesting, reasoned and insightful. Just would have been nice to hear from Yufster too if she was there anyway. Beyond that, I have no opinion on the ideal number of people. You two clearly know what you're on about, have actual experience of doing this stuff and can talk about games in a well-rounded manner. What more should the listener expect or require..? You do realise you've set the precedent for cat farts though, right? If I don't get at least one blast of feline flatulence per show from now on, I will be HUGELY DISAPPOINTED. -
Going by this time zone map, I make EST as being 1600 to GMT/UTC's 2100.

Battlestar Galactica Final Season Thread

Horribly unsophisticated cinema-style trailer IMO. -
Jesus H. Molyneux, how on Earth did I miss this thread until now?!

Sorry, I figured there was no point with only two Thumbs being available (i.e. I an' I).

Epic calendar FAIL Wondering if we should just postpone 'til Thursday then. Miffy could make it then, too. Sod it, I've moved this week's planned Grand Thumb Auto to Thursday now and updated the calendar. For those so inclined, there's an iCal feed - as well as an XML feed - if you want to automatically add Thumbs events to your personal calendaring software.

Speaking of the Idle Thumbs calendar: I assume all you pie-hatches are still on for tonight at 9pm GMT..?

Official F3 mod tool and DLC announced! The mod tool, craftily entitled "the G.E.C.K." (just to piss off NMA even further, obviously), will be available on PC free of charge. Three DLC packs will be released for both PC and Xbox 360 platforms, however, utilising Games for Windows Live and Xbox Live respectively: There appear to be no plans to offer DLC for the PlayStation 3 version for the moment. Early heads up courtesy of @IdleThumbs on Twitter - cheers, Chris! Whilst this is exciting news, it's also a really sore point for me; I'd really love to try making something in Fallout 3, but there's no way my PC could handle the game. Cry me a river... :\

But what about texture pop-in? That was always the worst thing for me. Haven't tried GTA IV on my new 360 to verify if it was my dying drive or not, but it sounds like plenty of other people suffered from texture pop-in as well.

Did you get a free copy of Vice City for immediate download when you pre-ordered?

I've just noticed that Eurogamer have some 'DVD vs. HDD installation' stats for Mass Effect, which you might be interested in.

Simple: a lot of careful planning plus the video equivalent of timestretching. Impressive none-the-less. Why is this in 'Episodes' though..?
-
I would say definitely not. It might be "Recommended" but it will never be a requirement, because MS made the decision to splinter the userbase with their 'Core/Arcade' bundle originally.

I tried the Xbox 360 demo last night and it's like a rhythm action game for me; it requires better timing than I'm seemingly capable of. It looks wonderful, I like the characters (in the demo anyway) and the premise is inspired. But it's not a game I'd enjoy, ultimately getting frustrated with myself for not being able to play it as intended (i.e. smoothly).

Don't want to speak for the rest of you, but I certainly consider myself an "above average" cunt. Let me know your Google account addresses, Thumbs, and I'll add you all to the editors list for the Idle Thumbs calendar.
-
Hmm, wondering if something like an Idle Thumbs calendar would be useful for this sort of thing..?

We've just had the latest round of aggressive repositioning from Microsoft in the UK, which is why machines are going for £129 now.

Finally got around to fiddling with Google Lively for a few minutes this morning and have created a room for Thumbateers everywhere: It's very basic at the moment, but it's open for anyone to add as much crap as they like. So dive in! I'll be in there while I'm at work.

Awww, we're all friends here... [further inappropriate touching]

Cool, look forward to it. Mrs V's going for a girly night out, so I'll have the evening to myself.

Weekends aren't good for me, but enjoy yourselves. Gutted we didn't have a session in the end last Thursday. We need to try again mid-week - how about next Tuesday (25th Nov) at 9pm GMT?
-
Ha, wonderful!

I shall miss our orbital pig cannon.

No it doesn't, it shows every game you've ever played--whether it was just the demo of an XBLA title or a "proper" game on disc. My Live account even shows stuff I used to play with the same username on a completely different machine a long time ago, including Dead or Alive 4 and MotoGP '06. Sorry, sorry... Given a moment's contemplation, it's only showing games which I've demo'd first and then played in full later. So you're quite right; didn't mean to troll. Click the right stick for added belch sophistication.
