  1. The All New XBox Gamertag Exchange Thread!

Not if that person's friends list is full... *co-Remo-ugh*
  2. Grand Thumb Auto 2: Return of The Thumb

Nothing in particular I suppose; my assumption was that defining 1 night a week would be the most inclusive and sensible approach. Also, it's more of an event - something to aim for - if it's just one night a week. If it ends up being multiple evenings with just a couple of participants each time, it'll quickly fail. Again, I was assuming 2100 GMT / 1400 EST was a good time for everyone still. We had good attendance last week across different time zones for this slot, so I figured it didn't need changing.
  3. Movie/TV recommendations

I really rate Hugh Dennis and this looks like it has a lot of potential. Cheers, Dan!
  4. Movie/TV recommendations

I couldn't watch that on Sunday, as Mrs V likes that abysmal celebrity jungle crap on the other side. Thanks for reminding me I need to add this to my iPlayer queue, though!
  5. Grand Thumb Auto 2: Return of The Thumb

Goodness me, PLAIN TEXT?! roflulz etc. Let's use something a little more quantifiable, shall we? Vote up, bitches! Note that I'm limiting this to weeknights only for now.
  6. New people: Read this, say hi.

    Yes! All hail the 'vore!
  7. Movie/TV recommendations

I missed the initial airing of the first episode of Survivors and downloaded it on iPlayer to watch at lunchtime last week. It was so slack-jawed and hackneyed, however, I couldn't get past the first half; it's about as terrifying as narcolepsy. The casting is piss-poor, which is further emphasised by the beguilingly predictable story and lame, cheap script. In short: complete dross. In (hopefully) happier news, I've finally got season 1 of Mad Men queued up and ready to start this lunch time! Been looking forward to seeing this since Thumbs alerted me to it last year.
  8. Grand Thumb Auto 2: Return of The Thumb

...so does that mean a vote for Thursday then? I'm confused now.
  9. ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭‮Mirror's Edge

See, this was all revealed in the first Grand Thumb Auto session. We should make Gaynor's attendance mandatory, for more hot scoops such as the above! This week: toblix turns out to be the bastard love-child of n0wak and Miffy drunkenly mistaking each other for strippers in a dodgy Broker nightclub.
  10. Consolevania am returned!

They've just started season 3, which I intend to begin following from the start. Need to also watch the first two seasons but details, details...
  11. Consolevania am returned!

You're not alone... Kenny's brilliant--even though he scares the shite out of me.
  12. Cortex Command

Pixellated physics-based Worms-alike PC shooter Cortex Command is going for half price until midnight tonight; which is to say you can snaffle this nifty indie game up for a shade over $9/£7. I've been helping to test the game, on and off, since it went into alpha many, many moons ago and it's a brilliant turn-based shooter. If you like good old fashioned, honest-to-goodness, "very PC" games (like Worms) then definitely take a punt on this one.
  13. Cortex Command

How long ago? I didn't enjoy the controls or menu systems in the earlier releases. But the recent revisions are leaps ahead of where it started out (as they should be). I'd say it's probably much more fun now since you last played it.
  14. The Two-Mega Cartridge!

Yes, it was--which equates to a whopping 256kb. I have fond memories of harriering my spaces on the Master System. It was my very first home console, and what a wonderful piece of kit it was...
  15. Fallout 3

Even when you're not in stealth mode and trotting around someone's house, some things can be "safe" amongst a sea of not-safe items. For example: there's an audio recording in the Megaton doctor's hut which you can take, whilst everything else in there is flagged.
  16. Fallout 3

Clawing at the vagaries of "implied design" for a moment... You could counter-argue that the residents are all deeply suspicious and want to protect what little civilisation they have left. Especially given the near-total inhospitability of the Capitol Wasteland outside the walls of Megaton. Therefore they'll immediately rally against anything that threatens their sanctuary and current way of life. In reality, yes, this is just the computer changing a setting for all local characters to "attack mode" and having at it. But F3's mechanics are such that if something's description text is red, it's not yours and there will be consequences if you mess with or take it. I can't offer any more without being unnecessarily patronising and subsequently being perceived as antagonistic.
  17. Grand Thumb Auto 2: Return of The Thumb

Wednesday is fine by me, which means n0wak has the casting vote.
  18. Zero Punctuation

    Remo Supremo!
  19. Fallout 3

...but you effectively kicked someone's door in. You weren't expecting a mug of cocoa and nice cuddle, were you?
  20. GET THE FUCK ON GTA NOW

Yeah, that was another highlight for me actually--rounding the bend, looking for trouble, only to see you fire that thing at us. My mate Jim was driving and all I remember was howling, "Reverse, fucking REVERSE!!!" In fairness though we did reverse down an incline to get away from you, so I think that contributed more than your aim to what was a very near miss.
  21. GET THE FUCK ON GTA NOW

Filthy camper! It was indeed fan-fucking-tastic. I think the highlight of the evening - for me - was when we played Cops 'n Crooks in 'All for One' mode. I was the boss and toblix was one of my henchmen. We started down by the river, right beneath the cops on a bridge above us as it turned out. Much hilarity ensued: "Where the fuck are they?! They're right here on the map!" The best bit, though, was when toblix and I decided to make a run for it up another overpass that was still undergoing construction. Trouble was, toblix didn't notice the road abruptly stopping 30ft above the slums below until he'd charged off the edge--his shriek over voice chat was epic.
  22. New gaming podcast: Hatchet Job Show

Heh heh. Can't actually recall a match we've played together where we haven't discussed something really interesting - more typically games-related - as we went along. That's why I was super-pleased when I discovered he'd started a podcast about such things a little while back. I just didn't announce it here, in the forums, before now because I didn't want to steal focus from Remo's, Jake's, Nick's, Spaff's and your efforts in resurrecting the mighty Thumbcasts.
  23. How...?! (Guitar Hero viral ad)

All this spleen and not a Wrestle in sight. Standards are seriously slipping around here...
  24. New gaming podcast: Hatchet Job Show

Sean, the host and organiser of the show, is very keen on covering all sorts of diverse and interesting subjects relevant to video games. Top bloke, too; had some memorable conversations over Live with him and a few of his mates in-game. One of the more surreal moments was when we were trying to help one of the guys decide how to get in touch with this girl he really liked. He'd SMS'd her once or twice, but nothing very flirty or committal. The surreal part was that we were trying to clear a partially built villa of terrorists in Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 at the time... quite bizarre, all huddled together behind a bare concrete wall overlooking the main courtyard, pausing in conversation to lob a grenade or pick off a few bad guys that appeared below us. Anyway: video games.
