  1. Grand Thumb Auto 4: Rise of the Thumb

Do we want another poll, or just call it as "every Wednesday" from now on and have done?
  2. Fallout 3

Tis, but I've not actually seen the whole film. Was very impressed with a clip I watched of it earlier today, however.
  3. Movie/TV recommendations

I read Snow Crash last year for the first time, and found it difficult and somewhat irritating to get into also. I did, however, finish it and thought it wasn't half bad.
  4. The All New XBox Gamertag Exchange Thread!

    Hey, that's fantastic! Welcome aboard.
  5. Fallout 3

Only when I've tried to jump up very lumpy irregular surfaces, like rocky outcroppings and such. You can still get up those, out in the wasteland at least; by pumping jump fairly quickly you can effectively 'hop' up the steeper uneven surfaces.
  6. Grand Thumb Auto 4: Rise of the Thumb

Wednesday should be fine for me, too. Failing that, Thursday is OK. But lets stick to one iteration of "Thumbs Whatever" per week; I'm already confused.

Bums... is this another novel I should have read years ago?
  8. ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭‮Mirror's Edge

Great video. Seeing them in motion now reminds me more of those batty, abstract sci-fi posters you used to see in the 80s. Used to love those. It also reminds me slightly, in a somewhat perverse way, of forth-coming pixellated indie platformer Fez... I don't like platformers myself, but it's wonderful to see something as brave and distinct as the Mirror's Edge time trials pack.
  9. Grand Thumb Auto 2: Return of The Thumb

I couldn't make it again--sorry for the faffing around. Having thought he'd gotten through the worst of it, T was suddenly very ill again yesterday evening.
  10. ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭‮Mirror's Edge

Flaming pantaloons, that looks incredibly elegant. Very Portal, too.
  11. Grand Thumb Auto 2: Return of The Thumb

Thanks--no worries if it's not feasible. Very short notice and all that.
  12. Grand Thumb Auto 2: Return of The Thumb

Sounds like you gents had a good session. Would anyone be up for tonight as well..? T slept all night in the end (was completely wiped out, poor little sod) and appears to be much better today, so I could get online later if anyone's up for another session this week.
  13. So, I've bought one of those lovely Dell 24" 1080p monitors I was droning on about. But I'm not sure which connection is best to use - HDMI, DVI-D or VGA? VGA seems to be the cheapest and most logical option for me, given it's a monitor and not a TV. (I'm thinking it certainly shouldn't have the same VGA problems as some budget HD TVs with VGA sometimes have.) It also looks like trying to go the HDMI or DVI-D routes with my non-HDMI-toting Xbox 360 would make things needlessly complicated. And more expensive. I'm bothered by the fact that VGA isn't as crisp as HDMI (in my limited experience) though...
  14. How should I connect my Xbox 360 to a HD monitor?

Brilliant, just the help I was after--thanks, guys!
  15. 24" HD 1080p for under £200

Dell just called me, while I was giving blood (fittingly enough), to say they're delivering my monitor tomorrow morning!

I agree in principle, but I think Neuromancer has the potential to be a grossly superior film. And no, I'm not saying The Matrix is shit. But I think Neuromancer's vision of our future is considerably more intelligent, likely and therefore tangible than the Wachowski Brother's efforts.
  17. 24" HD 1080p for under £200

Definitely; I used to have a vertical 15" LCD for email and documents, plus a larger horizontal LCD for development and browsing. The swivel was built into the mounting plate for the 15" panel as standard. Failing that, aren't VESA plates square anyway?
  18. 24" HD 1080p for under £200

I have officially liquidated my small plastic friend and ordered one of those spanking Dell 24" jobbers.
  19. Grand Thumb Auto 2: Return of The Thumb

My son is really ill, so I won't be along tonight. Have a great game, Thumbs!
  20. 24" HD 1080p for under £200

The second reply in the thread I linked to actually goes to the brochure pr0n for that monitor. It looks lurrrvly...
  21. Grand Thumb Auto 2: Return of The Thumb

Given that Mr Peel missed last week - and n0wak didn't - I say we should play tonight. If people want to play tomorrow too, fine. Ironically, I may now not be able to play tonight now anyway (though I definitely intend to if possible). T has suddenly become quite ill this lunchtime and will probably be pretty restless once he's gone to bed later. With regards to timing, just turn up when you like. The whole "2100 GMT / 1400 EST" is simply because we have to start at some point. Once things have begun, however, just pile on--it's what we did last week and LIVE is built for that anyway. So no pressure, just a pleasure to get as many Thumbs together as we can.

Perhaps by not using a director who's specialism seems to be highly disposable lavish pop videos (Britney Spears, Blink 182, etc.)..? Worse, animatronic mannequin Hayden Christensen was pencilled to be playing Case earlier in the year; the cast list has since been completely removed, but I'm not hopeful at this point either. One glimmer of promise, however, is that Gibson has been fiercely guarding the rights to Neuromancer for years now, turning down numerous screenplays from several directors. What's interesting is that I believe he's very much on board with this latest effort, so things could go well.
  23. New gaming podcast: Hatchet Job Show

A friend of mine recently launched a Video game podcast, called the Hatchet Job Show. They discuss a decent range of topics and have some very interesting guests, too. For example: they had the professor on last month, who helped develop Stephen Hawking's original mobility software, talking about user interface design. And they're about to have an interview with Trip "Mr EA/3DO" Hawkins(!) in the next few days, too.
  24. Black Mesa Source?

God damn, that gets me moist... even after all these years.
  25. Grand Thumb Auto 2: Return of The Thumb

I'll leave the vote open until tomorrow.
