Gah, someone take it away! I've just noticed that it's almost 2:30am here, which means I've spent about 5 hours straight playing Fallout 3 tonight... Unheard of for me in years. Having said that, I've completed the Galaxy Radio mission. Which was surprisingly easy, even though DC is crawling with super mutants. I'm still not great with any weapon particularly, though I seem to do extremely well with the hunting rifle. (More powerful guns seem to cause less damage - while also being much less accurate - and I don't know why.) I've just taken the Gunslinger perk, mind, and that's made the scoped .44 Magnum as powerful as I originally hoped it would be. Definitely one of the best guns in the game for me atm, though ammo seems to be rarer than rocking horse shite. I haven't taken any perks for larger weaponry as yet. But my character's almost hit level 13 now, so I'm trying to diversify before hitting the level cap. Oh, and I inadvertently found the publishing house for Groknak the Barbarian by... I also did my first truly evil, malevolent act of wanton violence tonight: I've noticed a few glitches suddenly appearing in my game tonight, too.

Actually, I'd not thought of asking Mrs V to play... might turn the tables for me.

"Junk food" certainly seems fitting to me.

I finally managed to progress (and complete!) the Big Trouble in Big Town quest. I needed to speak to Bittercup again, having placated her with indulgent emo schmooze last time. She must have been inside one of Big Town's houses the last couple of times I visited, following the quest marker but finding nothing. Having completed that, I've now gone back to Those! (the fire ant quest). And I realised what I'd done: Really into Fallout 3 again now, after just 45 minutes of play for the first time in ages.

I distinctly remember not being very good. However, I seem to have completely blocked out being this bad. Edit: Oh, and I forgot to mention that I have some spare invites if anyone's still after an account.

The medical term is "strapadictomy".

I was a little startled, but also getting a msg from @telltalegames as well made me think I'd really caused some serious offence.

Edited the OP. It was an honest - but admittedly careless - mistake and I apologise.

Right, you probably know the drill now. If not, a recap: Tuesdays, a few Thumbs meet on Xbox LIVE at around 9pm GMT / 2pm PST and proceed to ventilate, detonate, and generally murderate anything that moves. There's strictly no structure to the evening. You want to play a specific mode, we'll do it. Fancy trying something a bit bat-shit, you're on. Winning is nice, but the banter is by far the most fun. Previous in-game topics of conversation have ranged from what your favourite game mode is in GTA multiplayer, to what games you're looking forward to in 2009, to the design merits and variety of the Pokémon games. The only limitation is that we play Thumbs & Friends only; we don't hit the public servers, we just play with people we know (or people they know). So no anonymous douchebaggery or other related horse filth that can spoil online gaming sometimes. Look forward to seeing you online tomorrow!

I'm afraid I got horribly bored of running around the same level 4 times, just shaded using a different colour. And if you don't like over-hyped games, my friend, I'm afraid you've just dropped a twenty on an absolute stinker. Not in many notable Top 10s this year, were me Mr Dyack, hmm..?

Hello, Six! EVE scares the shit out of me. But I love the idea that they hired a full-time economist(?!) to help run their universe. Very interested in trying it, but daren't as I'm also married but don't have the free time an MMO truly requires. If the developers ever get rolling with the much-rumoured meta games (i.e. trading on your phone, related web-based stuff), then I may well be swayed... Anyway: welcome to Les Thumbs.

Grand Thumb Auto XI: Non-Believers Welcome

Racing the ice cream trucks through the city centre was hilarious. I was, fortunately(?), at the back of the pack when James dropped one. Cue a small explosion, then lots of erupting fire and a big tangled mess of ice cream vans as you all ploughed into the building at the end of the road. I think I managed to steer left enough to use Nachimir as a crash barrier and get a decent lead ahead. And yes, "mercilessly fucked with" would be an understatement--you little sods! The ball-kicker, though, was James racing up on the final corner, me thinking he was just pissing about, only for him to zip past on the bend and snatch first right in front of me. You monkey. Aside from that, there was some worryingly close scoring again. Which is great! A paltry $13 was the difference between 2nd, 3rd and 4th in our final match, a very tense sniper rifle sneak-a-thon around the elevated walkways of that processing plant by the coast. -
I've just read this - rather frightening - article about the burgeoning Western economic implosion. I thought other Thumbs might be interested in reading it too. It's certainly scared the living shit out of me...

Getting whacked off by toblix? Worth the price of admissi-oh shut up you twat.

Shit, already?! I need to get a move on. I was going to ask for MS Points from my relatives for my 30th, because the F3 and GTA IV DLC packs are looking like essential purchases.

...because it's not CSI: The Experience?

UG&G is one of the very few titles I'd recommend for the PSP--it's brilliant.

How're you running the game--through Windaz natively (like your average game), or via something tricksy like DOSBox?

...do I want to know what he/she/it is pointing to?

Season 4 of The Wire twists things right back in on themselves, effectively, focussing once more on the slums and their myriad characters. I envy you coming to the second half of this wonderful serial fresh. I'm planning for the memories to fade and dull for a couple of years, then jab the needle in Mrs V's arm! It's the good shit.

Ah well--too bad for [them] but better for us! I sense... apathy? Surely not--not from the feared and mighty (fucking insane) toblix? -
Grand Thumb Auto X: The Fellowship of the Thumb

Well I'm not. -
In seriousness, I did take you to mean the single player being a let-down. I loved it myself, but I'm not going to squabble about it or anything pointless like that. Thumbs is the best gaming forum I've come across for agreeing to disagree. I hope you - and any other new members - can join one of our GTA IV multiplayer sessions some time. ...that's assuming you find the idea of a grenade-peppered ice-cream truck race appealing, of course.
