And fresh *********, but we don't mention that. Can't in fact.

Damn you -- be gone, foul temptress of the games! *shakes fist*

Gods help me; the , intermingled with from the (sorely missed and thoroughly wonderful) Adam & Joe Show."He's a love-l-y per-swan... and a very good ac-tor."

I've got a "new" (used) DirectX 9.0c-capable gfx-card waiting for me at home, so hopefully that'll let me play the game. It was an "unknown, untested fault" punt off fleaBay, however, so could be a turd. Worth a punt for the £2.75 I paid for it though...

Oh, fuck the semantics. If someone's made something and it pleases the judge(s), so what? I like your; the features made me laugh, and you can certainly distinguish Mr Remo in amongst all the metal and plastic (and tatoos). (And cock.) However, this... ...had me at "hat switch" - that's genius.

The first game I thought of with that description was the original Hexen, with its central hub level structure. I'm struggling to remember, but I think all the levels had doors from this hub area, and you unlocked them by venturing into already-unlocked levels to find the right key(s). Wow... overwhelming urge to go back and play that immediately. It looked amazing on my Riva TNT 2!

That's a bloody good analogy, Dan, now you mention it. For some stupid reason, I hadn't considered Echo as merely a vessel. I'm sure it won't remain this mechanical though. I've yet to watch the 3rd episode, but we've already had clear allusions to Echo's past breaking through. The escaped lunatic (Alpha?) could also make things interesting, although this smacks of the cheap and self-perpetuating "now you see him, now you don't" shtick I hated about early Heroes.

Battlestar Galactica Final Season Thread
Wrestlevania replied to Marek's topic in Movies & Television
The tangibility of that makes me heave. I don't think they'd cop out like that though. It'd leave too bitter a taste after years of pretty good character and plot development otherwise. However, one way they could use this get-out and still be in keeping would be to find another Earth in the present time, then split again anyway. This would allow the cycle to repeat itself, logically, without relying on an obvious cliché like time travel. -

The bottom quarter of that diagram image file is always corrupt for me, meaning I can't see what's going on along the second half of the timeline. Regardless, it's not a very good piece of information design anyway. But there's a poignant quote I'd forgotten from a while ago: If Starbuck is a hybrid from the 13th tribe, she's suddenly a lot more interesting. -

Bloody hell, this episode was amazing! Just the right amount of exposure and intrigue, without relying on very specific fragments of long-past conversations. Starbuck is interesting again. -
Ignoring the literature this is being traded mercilessly off the back of, there's nothing here I find appealing. Adding the legacy of the poem back into the mix and I'm starting to feel contempt for those who thought this was a great idea. This is you exploring new IP is it, EA? Go to hell.

*bump* Well, after inadvertently burning myself with the Left 4 Dead sale last week (it's unplayable on my current PC), I stumped up for TF2 last night... and it works! I've got a headset for my computer now, too, so I'd definitely be up for some Thumbs teamplay sometime.

Not so much "scared shitless" as "reanimated corpse"; there's absolutely no life in that face whatsoever. And the early reports of it essentially being a reskin of The Club seem pretty accurate from that trailer.

Idle Thumbs 20: Idle Thumbs 2000
Wrestlevania replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
~90 minutes covers a day's commuting for me, traffic permitting, so (for entirely selfish reasons) that's perfect. And it's not like you're padding the episodes out... or, at least, it seems like you're not padding the episodes out. Anyway, to echo other comments on here: another great 'cast. Thank you, Thumbing gentlemen. -
Legend! Thank you for that link.

Must unsubscribe from this thread... too many uncloaked spoilers!

Giving MadCatz the benefit of the doubt, I think it's more that they simply don't have the production capacity to meet current demand. They alluded to this in an article I read in EDGE magazine last month, and I'm sure they've mentioned this online as well.

Sorry, but I simply must ask: What's the time..?

Agreed; there's far too much throw in the analogue stick. I find charge characters impossible to play this way, and "double fireball" super moves are a matter of sheer luck. Unsurprisingly, the UK has been cleared out of official controllers as of last weekend - when I guess the majority of people got around to playing the game, and discovered how horrible to standard Xbox 360 pads are for it. So I'm back to contemplating the D-pad hack I linked to on YouTube earlier in the thread. It's still a shitty compromise, though. However, one thing I've been wondering for an awful long time now - and I'm sure I'll be proven an idiot for even thinking this might be possible is: if I were to order some proper arcade parts (e.g. gumball stick and 10 push-buttons), would I be able to create my own arcade controller? What I mean is: could I gut my unused wired 360 controller, mount it inside some sort of MDF panel and then solder in the arcade parts as direct substitutes for the regular Xbox 360 D-pad and buttons? I'm assuming this is much too simplistic a point of view, that it would require a proper wiring loom, extra power, appropriate inline resistors, maybe a new/additional signal controller chip for the substituted inputs? I have absolutely no clue about electronics, but I'm OK at DIY and would love to put something like this together myself.

Go for the EX variant to counter offensive moves, should they happen to start chucking fireballs themselves.

Hearing lots of similar complaints today from contacts who've just discovered Quake Live. The official forums are a bloodbath, apparently. Still, id have confirmed that development of Mac and Linux clients is on-going and already at an advanced stage. All being well, they should appear sometime in the next few weeks.

Mrs V and I watched the first two episodes of Dollhouse this weekend. It seems merely good, rather than an instant must-watch, but we'll stick with it. The writing's good - as is the direction - but it hasn't grabbed us as yet. The premise strikes me as some sort of bizarre cross between Alias and Macguyver -- but with Echo (lead character) absorbing and utilising different people's skills and personality traits, instead of making episode-resolving gadgets out of bits of junk.
