I played this for about half an hour last night myself and, apart from the ridiculous premise and the poor English, it seems entertaining if very, very easy. The graphics are impressive and the controls are simple and direct. But there are a couple of annoying oversights in my opinion: It seems like a lot of the game is being procedurally generated, not unlike Elite. Unfortunately, that's where the similarities with Elite end. But I think this had the potential to be a portable version of that classic game. Instead it comes off as a minimalist, public domain / shareware version of Microsoft's Freelancer. There's no apparent scoring whilst in-level, you just get a summary at the end. It could've been an interesting and addictive time-/score-attack game were this displayed as you play. For some unknown reason, the ship's boost lasts for a predetermined length of time. Instead of just holding down the boost button for as long as you need, it fires for a predetermined length of time instead. Meaning you can completely overshoot your intended destination. And there's no way of cancelling the boost once you've activated it either.

A Belgian colleague of mine tells me this was a sketch show as well. I hate myself for clicking on a "Featured video" link, but this made me laugh:

I've had this in the mental queue for ages, after reading unexpected praise for it some time ago. I even had a copy at one point but didn't get around to watching it. Must make an effort to do that now; I love a good, traditional horror flick, not this horribly-played-out teen slasher crap the cinema's drowned in for years now.

"Rollin' with the 'blix" is fast-becoming a regular Grand Thumb Auto sub-event. -

Up where/what? I really need to get some sleep. -
If we get more than the designated 4, we could look at playing "versus" instead -- that's good fun, too.

North or south? If you're south-east, we could wave at each through telescopes!

Battlestar Galactica Final Season Thread

I'm annoyed they under-played that so much to be honest. Could've been very interesting, but was side-lined for, well, very little else as you say. -
But then it should be Left 4 Reals, surely? Anyway, if you can bear to use Steam again it'd be a blast to play with a few more Thumbs on Sunday night.

That reminds me: I need to watch this again, as I loved Casino Royale and really wanted to like Quantum of Solace. But it just didn't do anything for me the first time around.

It's not challenging when you play the same role in different clothes every time though, is it? That's my point: the premise is that Echo can be anyone as required. Dushku can't portray this though -- she's the same snot-nosed, hip-throwing, hand-flinging, head-cocking spoilt kid every single time. The only other discernible character she seems capable of is "wiped" Echo. Which requires sitting as still as possible and speaking in a quiet voice. You can virtually see her chanting "don't do what you normally do!" furiously over and over in her head. There's no suspension of disbelief that she's doing anything other than speaking lines; it's rote and boring.

The clue is in the name... 4-player campaign, 8-player versus.

Done.

BitTorrent I should imagine... -
Damn fucking straight! Didn't want your PC to, you know, eat itself halfway through. You just can't rely on some people. On the other hand, how would people feel about a regular Thumbs L4D night on Sundays?

To reiterate what I said about the latest episode on Twitter, episode 4 basically confirms that Dushku simply can't act -- not beyond "sassy high school brat" anyway. As a result, the premise of Dollhouse - for me - is rapidly disintegrating. But then I had absolutely no interest in Buffy or any of its spin-offs either.

Ronnie Barker (larger man) was my most-favourite comedian -- brilliant sketch writer and performer. I used to watch The Two Ronnies every weekend religiously as a kid. The fact it still makes me laugh so much now speaks for the quality of their - and their fellow writer's - work.

That's right, Paul Vania... :\ As if team-killing me earlier in the week wasn't enough.

"Someone set us up the meme" -IGN.bomb I sense this rather confused conversation now spiralling rapidly out of control...

Yep, really enjoyed our charge through the airport last night. Only the second time I've played, and the first time I've played the airport scenario:

Watched episode 3 of Dollhouse tonight; really quite poor. Struggled to pay attention after the first 20 minutes or so, but hoping tonight's episode will be better.

Is that some sort of sick joke..? -

Well, with the gracious assistance of the venerable DanJW and some of his new clan (very nice chap/ettes), I played my first ever online campaign last night. And thoroughly bloody good fun it was too; taking turns in scenario-based levels like this is superb fun, much more than I imagined. I didn't do too well, but testament to the game (and the clan) I still really enjoyed it. Cheers, Dan! Might be up for some more tonight still, too.
