    Same as toblix.
  2. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

Pick it up if you see it for cheap—you'd be very welcome! And we're not intending to stop until GTA5 makes its way to PC, which will be a few months yet I reckon.

But surely nothing embodies the Christmas spirit better than shooting your friends off roofs with a rocket launcher..? Anyway; yes, sorry. I bailed halfway through Monday as I'd had almost no sleep the night before and felt horrible. I should be around for next Monday's blast, but that'll be my last one for a couple of weeks. Update: Oh fuck-socks, can't make next Monday either as I've got one of those stupid anniversary things*. * THIS IS A JOKE. I will have been married for 13 years, woo!

Excuses, excuses... (We miss you, James!)

Must confess to enjoying our Paul Walker Memorial Race quite a lot last night... is that bad? Thought it made a nice change to just focus on racing around the city for once, without the randomness of guns/grenades (even with GTA IV's muddy handling). Having said that, the field seemed to split up a lot quicker and stay that way for basically the duration, which meant it was quite a lonely - perhaps even solemn - event in the end. "Apt," you might say... All of which - along with toblix mentioning it last night - reminded me of how much I miss our old Formula Thumb (Forza 4) nights on the Eggs Box. Is there anything on Steam that comes close to Forza, in terms of handling and variety? I wondered if NFS Shift 2 might be fun?

I want this on a t-shirt! Also it now appears I can't do the work I had planned, due to a temporary problem with said friend's hosting.
  7. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

I won't be. I've been putting off a "you do websites don't you?" favour for a friend for too long, and it's finally caught up with me. Hope you have fun!

Was desperately trying to get over to the Burger Shot and lob a grenade in amongst you, but you gunned down the others before I could get there! Looking forward to later, assuming a few others are up for it too?
  9. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

Yep! We'll be sticking with IV until the rumoured release of the PC version of V some time early(ish) next year. You left your mic on last night, so we all heard you getting a little horny.
  10. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

I forgot to add this to the Steam Group calendar again for this week (Nov 11th). So... anyone else around later?

Ye olde timey exploding whale video... I think my favourite quote of the night was, “So... have you ever penetrated a large mammal on camera?”
  12. Earth Defense Force 2025

This would appear to confirm there's no PC version then..? I do a

Ah yes, how could I forget the hilariously one-sided telephone conversation we were (sort of) privy to and provided suitably infantile subtitles for.
  14. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

Pffft. Also can we phone James again, this time from a different international number?
  15. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

Anyone else interested in some GTA frolics later today?
  16. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

My favourite bit was the heated debate around just how (pre-)pubescent Michael Bay’s cinematography is, followed by the group’s exploration of the complex narrative tributaries within the Fast & Furious hexalogy. And Patters’ drinking game related there-of.
  17. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

    You're vanilla then.
  18. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

    It's looking like Monday again.
  19. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

Unless there's more interest in playing on Sunday? I'm easy.
  20. Armored Core: Verdict Day

Same. Only time it gets switched on nowadays is when my kids play Skylanders. That and having no interest in paying for Xbox Gold for more than a year, otherwise I'd be all over Verdict Day (assuming it's a lot like classic Front Mission, which it sounds like it might be).
  21. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

For reasons unknown, you never show up as online in GfWL for me. I did try to send you invites though!
  22. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

For those who left comments on the Steam event for last night, you need to get on Mumble and we kick things off from there. Assuming we haven't already started, in which case we'll invite you in to the session. Also I feel a bit like organising these games... "Do this! Go here! Play now!"

I think I'm remembering this now about the couple of times I was able to join in with Episodes matches back on Xbox Live. They seem to be quite superficial updates, and somehow don't feel quite as free or expansive as the original game. I can't quite articulate how at the moment. It might be that the Episodes modes are so focussed on echoing the specific themes and gimmicks of each episode that it walls in the underlying GTA IV multiplayer experience they're built upon. I did enjoy racing around in the prison busses though. Lone Rider just seems to be incredibly frustrating all round; either mundane for the person escaping, as we all know the city so well by now, and maddening for those trying to catch up and take over. I can't remember anything noteworthy or distinct about the Gay Tony multiplayer modes, except for the addition of nitro to the one car you start in. Now, if they had nitro for every vehicle in every mode, that could've made things much more interesting... Anyway, I'm looking forward to next week already. I'll stick a regular game in the Steam calendar, and we can switch over to Episodes if people want to.
  24. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

I was wondering this myself earlier. I'll be online if anyone fancies a blast.
  25. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

Sure, let's make sure we do it this time. Tomorrow night it is!
