itsgettingnasty is within Twitter's 15 char username limit... I think Jake has a point: were it to be properly challenged - and @ignlegal's one-line finger pointing most definitely isn't that - then things could come unstuck I suppose. I'm managing the social media presence of a large local company, very much in the public eye, and there's a simple, formal proceedure on Twitter's website; this is structured to very easily challenge ownership of an identity. We've justy had to do this because someone was posting near-gibberish using the company's name as their account ID. So if IGN were to find the @igndotcom account offensive/discrediting, they should be doing that. Personally, however, I think it much more in their interests to go after the abandoned (virgin) @ign account myself, and leave our affectionate parrodies alone.

So, it's been leaked nearly 2 weeks and no-one's talking about it... Am I right to assume that's because it's shit?

We watched Control at the weekend, which is about the late Joy Division lead singer, Ian Curtis. Don't usually go for biographical films, but this was very good. It's an interesting story and I really felt like I understood his motivations the whole way through. Recommended.

<wank class="marketing"> I don't think out-and-out baiting is the right course myself, whereas I'd consider satire to be both valid and of value to IGN as a brand. </wank>

Ah, was lead to believe you might be already--hadn't checked, myself.

Oh dear... You know, the more this happens, the more likely I think IGN might send in the attack dogs.

Definitely try '33' (S01E01) before writing it off, as I've probably stated a couple of times already elsewhere. I wouldn't go anywhere near Caprica until you've seen more of the main series, as the teen emo pap might colour your expectations of the original series.

No, T's too little still. And E isn't quite ready yet, either.

I forgot to post this at the weekend: I took my elder daughter (L, 6) to a preview of Coraline last Sunday. It was great, even without the gimmick of 3D--a fun and interesting film. L was a little apprehensive of some parts towards the end, but she enjoyed it very much too.

If you're playing on PC, myself and a few other Thumbs play most Sundays (9pm BST). If you join the Thumbs Steam group you should see it in the calendar. You'd be more than welcome to pile on.

So, life then... Changed job title--I'm now a User Experience Designer! No change in pay. Mrs V needs a major operation in August. She will be virtually bed-bound for 6 weeks. Had to cancel annual holiday; kids in tears. Still, thanks to Ben, this little slice of EPIC occurred last Thursday... NB: I'm the dude not wearing glasses--you all know the other guy. So yeah, got to meet Chris and Ben, hang out for a while and eat dinner at Sony in Central London; a good day.

*bump* Having sat patiently on my gaming shelves, all-but-neglected, for months now, I finally gave The Club a proper play-through yesterday and... I'm actually quite impressed. When I first played it just after Christmas, I was pretty indifferent towards it. The game felt sluggish, the movement seemed imprecise, and aiming your gun was wildly inaccurate. But, after last night, it's clicked. You need to decouple your brain from the whole Gears of War mentality for The Club to work. If anything, it's more like Track & Field than it is Halo; it's a raw, speed-based arcade game, not the roaming shooter it appears to be. I still find the presentation a bit clunky - and the load times seem laborious and overly long - but I had a lot of fun running through the first single-player tournament a few times last night. Critically, for an arcade-like game, it's all about score--and this it gets pretty much bang-on. I can see it being quite addictive to go back and improve your ranking in a single-player tournament, though I've not taken it online yet. Anyone interested in playing over Xbox LIVE at some point..?
