Shame about the timing, n0wak - we were just at the final "escape" scenario when you msg'd me and had no spare slots. We played Versus again last night, with a full house. There were some very, ah, "short" encounters throughout, but at least one team made it into the helicopter. I'm still finding the Infected quite difficult to play as, though I think that's mainly down to tactics and organisation (or lack thereof). Whilst I was sceptical originally, I do think voice comms play quite a large part in success--especially when you need to co-ordinate against another team. Still, it was a lot of fun and I enjoyed being the tank a couple of times.

I got my current headset for £8 out of Asda and it works a treat! Sounds not half bad on the 'phones either. I know what you mean. I struggled in deciding for a bit, because I honestly didn't enjoy the Xbox 360 version all that much. I tried the PC one for comparison, however, and it just clicked for me.

I had no idea this was happening on Tuesday. If it's going to be for quite some time, then yes, it'll kybosh Grand Thumb Auto entirely. Maybe we should hastily schedule in something Steam-based instead for this Tuesday? I've still not tried Team Fortress 2, and Left 4 Dead remains utterly essential. Thoughts/feelings/requests? Here's your solution: steal a police car, open the crimes computer (park, then left bumper), look at the local crimes in progress and choose one of the "on foot" criminals. Then: Drive to criminal's location Shoot in face / run over / crush between police car and nearest wall / set on fire with Molotov (particularly good for the "gang" variant) Collect oodles of dropped money and ammo, and get thanked for doing the deed over the car's radio Rinse and repeat a few times and you'll be well over your hang-ups--worked for me at any rate. Deagle to the face is now my crime-fighting trademark.

It's been months since I played. I've been thinking about maybe trying again, but now most of the chaff will have stopped playing, I expect nothing but total thrashings online. Which doesn't mean I'm snubbing anyone here, but I've no interest in playing with anyone other than friends - i.e. Thumbs - now. Even if that means a thrashing as well. I was planning to make myself a stick out of arcade parts and a spare, wired Xbox 360 controller I lent my brother. But he's still not returned it, and I'm fairly ambivalent to the whole SFIV thing (as you can probably tell) now anyway. Still, if other Thumbs want to punch each other in the teeth, I'm game.

I went knowing it was meant to be disappointing. But I enjoy the fiction and wanted to see what had been done with it anyway. Mrs V's pretty hooked on T:TSCC with me at home, too, and she's really enjoyed the new Batman films as well. Having been pretty anti comics, games and science-fiction when we met 11 years ago, I think she was more keen to see it than I was! What have I done..?

For reference, Plan B can be neatly summized thusly: "Fucking run!!!" Note the similarity to Plan A. Interesting point actually; I'm far more malevolent in the single player since our Grand Thumb Auto session began. Like Nachimir, I'm now particularly a fan of shooting people in the face through their car windscreens--especially if I'm standing in the middle of the highway and they're racing towards me. True. I always stop for a moment to enjoy that whenever we play Dead Air. Fuck it, I want to play again tonight now. Who wants to play later, say about 9pm BST? I'm serious.
