See that brown stuff coming through the propellers..?

This was posted on BoingBoing, so I appreciate everyone's seen it a billion times already--including people not even born yet. But here it is again anyway: Wo-gGes6qig I think every movie trailer would be significantly improved with a mumbly, lisping old Japanese man monologue.

I'm going to avoid it on the grounds of Spoilerism.

She probably wouldn't like me either, Nihal.

Grand Thumb Auto XXX2: State of the Union

How could I forget, along with 3 of you vicious basts mobbing my helpless chopper in your blimmin' gunships? -
In case you weren't aware, Xbox LIVE is going down on J. Allard! this Tuesday for "up to 24 hours". Which means no Grand Thumb Auto this week. Instead, we've decided we'll give Team Fortress 2 a run for its money! I've never played it, still, so we're going to pile on Steam at 9pm BST this Tuesday. Everyone is welcome. This isn't just for those that play GTA each week, we want everybody who'd like to play to come along and make up the teams. Knowing how fun our weekly riots through Liberty City are, I have high hopes for adding mini guns and turrets into the mix.

That's because you're not stabbing James in the head with it, promise.

Grand Thumb Auto XXX2: State of the Union
Wrestlevania replied to miffy495's topic in Multiplayer Networking
I'm starting to get slightly paranoid with Grand Thumb Auto at the moment. Every time we play Cops 'n' Crooks, I take a speeding police car to the head... But let's also not forget Miffy's sterling effort in the opening race, too. Having barrelled over the final hump in the road myself and flown through the last checkpoint to win, Mr 495 decides to try and one-up my showmanship by going even faster. However, at point of take off, toblix warped back into the game right at that spot, just in time for Miffy to glide barely a foot over his head and across the finish line. I swear, if that pickup you were driving had anything jutting out from the bottom of it, you'd have taken 'blix's head clean off. The final helicopter race was just cruel though, you evil, sadistic bastards. -

You assume too much... -
Seems the cash part of the deal is exactly the amount by which TPB are currently out of pocket from the court case. No idea how they hope to legitimise file sharing, but if they can do it more power to 'em. Now where did I leave that copy of eMule...

Ah, shoot people? I shall be there myself, in a little over 30 minute's time. -
It also sounds like server considerations are a requirement for TF2 fun, which could be a chore. It's not like you can just hit any server and be assured of a decent setup, with regular map rotation, voting, etc. I think this has possibly only been an issue once or twice with Left 4 Thumbs, and has been quickly sorted anyway. Having more people to shunt from one server to another would make things more protracted as well. In short: if we can't get a regular high-number turnout and have a reliable server on which to play, it seems people are suggesting TF2 might not be very enjoyable.

Still my favourite musical parody sketch to date: FqOh4z2ASdk I miss Kenny Everett... :\

It's never worked in Safari to my knowledge--at least not v3 or v4. And I expect it's part of the base forum code. It's using JavaScript to do its funkiness, so I should imagine there's a fair amount of sludgy, horribly outdated code behind the scenes doing the nasty. It's the usual way with forum software in my experience. I mean, they lay out all the on-page information in friggin' tables roflmao.

The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

This afternoon, I've been introduced to the funky chunky monkies that are Modeselektor. For anyone who likes Aphex Twin, Trentemoller or similar "glitch" practitioners, these two are fucking ace. PpI5QGnQcQw -
Another great post on Twitter yesterday, this time from a friend of mine that runs a market stall selling second-hand games and DVDs. I told him that's going to be next year's inevitable sequel to Dante's Inferno.

Ported from the YouTube thread: I think it's because Glastonbury is hippy, not hip-hop - sex and drugs and rock 'n' roll, not guns, bitches and bling. Personally, I've no qualms about hip-hop, rap or any other "urban" genre (however you choose to skewer it) appearing at Glasto. But I thought giving Jay-Z headline billing was a fucking stupid idea - totally disconnected and just pasted on top like some cynical marketing trick. In much the same way, I think giving Status Quo headline billing for this year's festival is fucking stupid. This, too, appears to be another cynical, "get everybody" tactic. More damning is how totally and utterly musically irrelevant they are; at least Jay-Z had contemporary value. You won't beat Muse in 2004, though, for me. They were absolutely eye-popping, and that was just watching them via TV. So good in fact that I actually tried something other than my strict, 20-something-year diet of Electronica, and started venturing into rock. “Work the stick, finger the buttons, say our name…” –IGN.com It's based on this rather brilliant - though very old - Sylvester Stallone gaff.

The Nintendo Help voice was inspired. Was laughing out loud walking into work. Thank you! -
Making a mental note to try this either tonight or at the weekend. Regardles, congratulations on all the congratulations, Noyb. Seems to have gone down particularly well on the TIG Source forums, so well done. I also think this sort of creation is particularly important in keeping video games "honest" and culturally relevant. So nice work on that front, too.
-
I don't, and wasn't planning to either to be honest. We can still play the main game though... right?

Picked this up yesterday (via xbox.com while I was in the office as a matter of fact; very nifty way to buy) and tried it this morning for an hour. Seems very good - exceptionally good, actually - if a little clunky. But the 'clunk' comes from having never played it via buttons before, just on tabletops. And not for about a decade or more, at that. The interface is very clean though, and it's easy to move around, look at cards in more detail, perform interrupts and so on. I'm already looking forward to unlocking more cards and customising my deck. Speaking of which; if, like me, your first thought was "oh gods, you're going to have to buy tonnes of DLC to get a decent selection of cards," you're in for a pleasant surprise. There's no DLC for the game--at least not yet. It's 800 MS Points, too, which seems cheap to me, and the game comes with hundreds of cards - across all 5 colours/types (Mountains, Forests, Swamps, etc.) - as standard, which is great! Anyway, there's a review on EDGE's website with more detail. Anyone up for a game some time? If we get a few people maybe we could make it a weekly thing? That'd be fun I think.

The annoying thing is I can see the Bristol branch of Forbidden Planet from my desk. But they're not participating!
