  1. We could do that for certain races, like maybe a stock car race on an oval--that'd be quite fun. But for the general racing, I think realistic damage would take away the fun - and the competitiveness.
  2. Half Life 2: I'm really missing the point

You're right; the subtly - and sincerity - in the animation has gone. I didn't notice that before, just that her skin tone seemed more natural and her face less plasticky.
  3. Half Life 2: I'm really missing the point

Is that the mod where all the soldiers wear glasses..? LOL
  4. Half Life 2: I'm really missing the point

I thought she looked much more natural actually... Lazy embed: -R5Z8Vfv32s Has anyone tried the Half-Life 2: Cinematic Mod at all? Seem to remember some distant discussion about this in threads past - specifically how impressive everything was... except for the purile reskin of Alyx, which makes me sad: It's also a massive 10GBs in size too. However, there's a "lite" version that just contains the environment stuff and not the new character models; might be worth a punt.
  5. Down in the Zone (S.T.A.L.K.E.R.)

So I've come back to this chuffing lovely game recently, and just this lunchtime I've managed to solve that barcoding glitch! It was a shader problem as everyone suspected, but all I needed to do was comment out the ambient occlusion shader reference - found in the STALKER Complete 2009 mod's graphics config file - and it runs like a silky dream now! Config file [installation directory]\gamedata\shaders\r2\SkyGRAPHICS_options.cfg Before #define IMPROVED_MBLUR // Enable/Disable Motion Blur #define DEPTH_OF_FIELD // Enable/Disable Depth Of Field #define PARALLAX_OCCLUSION // Enable/Disable Parallax Occlusion Mapping #define SSAO // Enable/Disable Screen Space Ambient Occlusion After #define IMPROVED_MBLUR // Enable/Disable Motion Blur #define DEPTH_OF_FIELD // Enable/Disable Depth Of Field #define PARALLAX_OCCLUSION // Enable/Disable Parallax Occlusion Mapping //#define SSAO // Enable/Disable Screen Space Ambient Occlusion So simple, even a Wrestle could do it! Really enjoying the game again this past week, and finding a solution to this problem only makes it better.
  6. Excellent; shall we say 8-10pm UK / 1-3pm Canada?
  7. I'd be up for some racing tonight, definitely. Commence Formula Thumb! Edit: What time's good for you, though, Miffy? I'll be around from about 8pm UK time...
  8. Possibly... can't say for definite, but go ahead and I'll join you if I can.
  9. Off-Road Velociraptor Safari

We've all seen some bonkers indie games in the past, but I think Raptor Safari has to take the biscuit at present: It's browser-based, which is interesting -- but it also means it's a bit of a dog in the performance stakes. Still very playable and a good laugh though.
  10. We haven't even started on our wrapping up yet, so I'm not expecting to have much gaming time from now until after Christmas. By all means start without me though!
  11. Life

We found out yesterday that my eldest doesn't, in fact, have a hearing problem and so won't need an operation! Oh, and I just came home from working late - trying to launch a competition at 6pm on a Friday - to a surprise belated anniversary: a brand new iPod nano! You know what? I declare it a fucking good week for once. ...so my house will burn down tomorrow now I've said that.
  12. Life

It's taken fookin' ages to come through, but we finally got our mortgage agreed this afternoon! Just in time for Christmas.
  13. Movie/TV recommendations

Mrs V and I went to see Avatar in 3D last night and we both really enjoyed. Just make sure you don't go trying to rationalise every detail; sit down, shut up and let the whole thing consume you totally. It was really quite wonderful.
  14. As you've probably already guessed by the time I post this, no, I can't make it along tonight either. Sorry. Been feeling progressively more unwell the last few days and haven't been sleeping much either. Had a lot of stress at work lately too, so getting an early night in the hope I can get some rest before we go out tomorrow night. Hope you have a good one!
  15. As long as it's after 8pm, I should be up for that. I'll be out this Wednesday though--it's mine and Mrs V's 9th wedding anniversary.
  16. THUMBS!

    Merry Thumbas everyone! ()
  17. Left 4 Thumbs

Apologies. I missed Thursday due to things being too hectic at home and work; shitty of me, I know, after I suggested Thursday in the first place... What's a better day for you guys (Miffy, Dan)?
  18. Merry Christmas, Thumbs!

Right then, time for a bit of shameless self-promotion... I've been working for the last 2 weeks on a new Twitter/Facebook mashup, which has just finally gone live! http://www.twitmastree.com/ I hope you all like it, and a very Merry Christmas to you all, Thumbs!
  19. Merry Christmas, Thumbs!

Thanks all. I've fixed those now. Feedback and testing much appreciated!
  20. Merry Christmas, Thumbs!

OK, thanks for confirming. I'll look into that.
  21. Merry Christmas, Thumbs!

Thanks for that, elmuerte. Have you got anything like FlashBlock installed? I'm seeing that scrollbar in Firefox myself - in which I've got FlashBlock installed - but not in other browsers..?
  22. I'd rather Abarth 500s myself; let's at least use something little that's meant to go with some pace in a straight line.
  23. Merry Christmas, Thumbs!

"May"? Screenshot and browser specifics, please!
  24. Merry Christmas, Thumbs!

Came up with the idea and managed its development. Have you had a look at the help page btw?
  25. Left 4 Thumbs

I can't say as I'll be around tomorrow--likely launching the company's new Twitter/Facebook for Christmas at some point Sunday night. What about next week some time? Thursday (10th) maybe?
