I pre-ordered this, but am ashamed to say I still have yet to fire it up. My excuse is that I'm still partly through reconditioning and reinstalling an old laptop I have, so that I can then play this with my kids over wifi in the house.

I'm very much hoping to be, toblix. I'll see if I can get organised quickly enough when I get home tonight, but I've still got quite a lot to do so I may be on later in the session.

Ah, good to know. Thanks, Jamsl.

Snow Buddies and (the even worserer) Santa Buddies are two of my kids' favourite DVDs. The sequel even has Christopher Lloyd playing a mean dog-catcher.

Have I missed the "chainsaw only" mutation yet? Up to my eyes in decorating at the minute but really didn't want to miss that one.

Yup, in case you missed the news, MechWarrior 4 is about to be re-released for free - including all expansion packs. It's a clever giveaway to generate hype for the imminent franchise reboot. Cue MechWarrior series' latest trademark CG porn: fguVJfOrrkc I enjoyed MW4 back in the day, so I'm really looking forward to playing the expansion packs this time (I missed them first time around). Maybe we could even get some multiplayer going? That'd be funkin' ace!

Nay Got to redecorate the dining room this weekend, so I've had to pack away my computer and Xbox 360 this morning. If I'm miraculously done by tomorrow night, I'll be in. But I think it's safe to assume I won't be. I need to download the whole first game again anyway.

I'm still interested in getting some of the harder achievements with friends in L4D, definitely. I'll need to clear some damn space first, mind...

The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I've started collecting some of my favourite bits of music on Blip.fm, including Progressive, Dubstep and other styles of Electronica. What's nice about Blip.fm is that the tracks auto-play, newest to oldest, like a personal mix tape. Which is great, assuming you like what I've put in the pile. -
Well, it sounds like you'll have a little time to find it as the game's not actually available to download by we Great Unwashed just yet. Nice to read they've finally been able to get it through Microsoft's legal department though.

If you would, gentlemen - my rear-view mirror needs more dots.

Something a friend of mine put together... mHR6-KN-8uI A little background: the man speaking in the video is David Cameron, leader of what is considered to be The Opposition (the so-called Conservatives) in the imminent British parliamentary election. And he's a stupid, spoilt cunt, who's currently most famous for coming out with all sorts of stupid shit to make himself seem more "real" and "with it" to the apathetic electorate.

You might be respawning... And you don't have to type every time you spawn. We just need to have some semblance of coordination I think, that's all.

Pentium 4 2.4GHz HT 4GB RAM Nvidia 7800GS 512MB ...but it was free. Not too demanding stuff from a couple of years back runs at 1,920 x 1,080 without a problem. And, as mentioned, modern Source games like Left 4 Dead 2 run smoothly enough at 1,280 x 720 with most DX9 stuff cranked up. But I don't really play much on PC anyway. It's why I bought an Xbox 360; having been part of the PC hardware rat race for a decade, I don't have the funds to maintain a modern gaming rig now. The last gaming rig I built, I had a decent bit of money aside I could spend on it. So I was lucky enough to splurge £400 on the graphics card alone. But that was back in 2004, and that machine's long gone now (had to sell it for space reasons only 6 months after building it; was gutted).

Well below that, sadly. Source games run well enough, but little else.

HtsRiB3q-6w So, having not really played the original game beyond the demo on Xbox 360, Marek posted the above Lost Planet 2 gameplay video on Twitter recently and piqued my interest. And I think it's looking really promising. I like the sense that it's going to be something of a cross between Gears of War and Monster Hunter. I also like that the weapons don't seem over-powered, so I imagine this'll reinforce the necessity for co-operative play. Any other Thumbs interested?

I've just noticed that you can preload the demo now via Xbox.com... +100 geek points

Grand Thumb Auto 55: The Awesome Rocket Trick
Wrestlevania replied to toblix's topic in Multiplayer Networking
Dear friend, have we really never played an online game together? Bad punnage is my trademark contribution to any Thumbs gathering--fuck skill! -
Woo, Capcom just sent me an early access code for the multiplayer demo! I only signed up on the official Lost Planet 2 website a couple of days ago, too. Anyone else on Xbox 360 want to play? Early access starts later today!
-
No, that was really insightful, twmac. Thanks. You also covered a couple of tactical nuggets not mentioned in the (excellent) Eurogamer review, which flesh out the game mechanics more. Really tempted to get this now. Will have to hide all my change for a bit and then pick it up.

I'd missed this. I'll update the Thumbs Steam calendar accordingly. Annoyingly, Steam won't let me schedule an event for a game not in my library. Shame my PC won't be able to run BC2, sounds brilliant fun.
