I've heard 28 Weeks Later is very flip-floppy in general. Some people raging against the MTV camera work, others indifferent to the fact the plot seems to go nowhere. I'm still interested in seeing it (I love zombie films), but that initial pique of interest has dampened right down.

Double Dragon is nasty because it has none of the refinements from subsequent versions that made playing the game actually worthwhile. The controls are still the sticky original setup, where the action of the game comes not from on-screen, but how well you can sequence your button presses. It quickly descends into being an excercise in oblique frustration, so having this title on Live Arcade serves no real purpose whatsoever. The graphics have been redone for HD, but I personally don't like the style at all; charmless, glossy (in terms of production) and utterly sterile. You can revert back to the original art assets if you wish, but the game looked like shit on just my traditional CRT telly. I can't imagine how awful the original graphics would look on a decent HD set... At this point, you could perhaps accuse me of being incapable of seperating the romantic memory of Double Dragon from actually playing Double Dragon. Which is fair enough, given how so many people romantacise about old games. But my response would be to go play River City Ransom EX on Game Boy Advance; it's a very similar title, but still brilliant fun to play even now. The original Double Dragon on Live Arcade on the otherhand is just uncomfortable and even a bit embarassing.

If they're not going to draw some closure in the fourth season, then it's going to drag worse than this one has--and will doom the show (in its current form) anyway. Which would all be quite convenient.
-
Agreed. The third season rapidly breaks down the mystery and menace of the Cylon threat, which is where I think they've gone wrong with the series. I do intend to watch the last few episodes of season three, but when someone pointed out the above (on Thumbs?) it was a rather nasty realisation. I would definitely recommend anyone watch the very first episode - entitled "33" - of season one, though. It's an incredible piece of TV drama.

Would there have been enough jelly? Obvious and crap, I know. Sorry.
-
Amen. I'm actually looking forward to what should be a balls-out blast fest of a finale.

(and Happy Birthday) for 3 days ago, then.

I hadn't heard about the secret mode (where you can throw blocks at a character to try and knock them off balance) until yesterday. I'll have to fire the game up again and try it out. I reckon Sumotori would make a great drinking game.

Searching is one thing. Blatantly drawing attention to it is quite another, despite how "clever" you think you are:

Bought King Kong for Xbox 360 on Saturday for 97p and it's too dark. *grumble grumble*
-
But... Event Horizon's great.
-
Superb--the band is complete! We have: DanJW on lead vocals Miffy on guitar n0wak on trumpet ysbreaker and myself on drums We also currently have almost 100 fans already.
-
Odd, still can't see it. Found you in the 'Stars' list and sent an invitation instead. There's now just one space left in The Idle Thumbs, folks...
-
Yeah, you're right -- I'm inherently a tight-arse/wad.

I suppose the only excuse I could offer up (in general) is that it's the slowest time of the year in gaming, now that The Balls-Kneeing Robot lays slain. Did I mention how shit Double Dragon is on XBLA?
-
Bit disappointed about the free/paid-for split, but being able to try out the paid-for content by joining another person's game is brilliant.

"Ooh, a news post about Spore. It's meant to be out this year so it should b:- FFS!"

I would guess that, because Prey was a significant commercial success, 3D Realms might actually have ramped up production on Forever with a view to finally getting the game finished. I know one of their head hombres was quoted very recently about DNF, basically saying: Honestly, I'm hopeful that we'll still see it. I miss the Duke... -
Can't see your request, n0wak; what's you Star name in Bandology? Marek, it'd be great to have you in The Idle Thumbs. But be quick--we only have one slot left!
-
The controls do indeed "blow goats". But the stumbling, bumbling progressive character animations had me in tears (of laughter) the first time I played it. It's like watching two drunk, overweight old men bitch-fighting.
-
Could you perhaps warn me before using such language in future??!
-
Most definitely--I've sent you an invite to join the band.
-
Amazon UK are now selling the "Premium" pack for just shy of £250 delivered. As a bonus, you can add Gears of War and Crackdown for just £15 extra!
-
And we're off; I've assigned Shaftoe to deal with a bunch of naked ladies, but we need more band members. Two drummers does not a rock band make!
-
Absolutely! I've setup the band name already, so if people want to come join let me know your game names and I'll invite you to the band. Singers, keyboardists and guitarists most welcome. PS: Loving the Mario/Bandology avatar, netmonkey.
