  1. MASSIVE HYPOCRISY! It's in the game

The title of this thread speaks for itself.
  2. Crackdown wins Develop's "Innovation" prize

I'd say the flawless co-op was the point about innovation, not how successful some aftermarket bolt-on was. And whilst yes, you can scrutinise the game to the point of "it's just a stats boosting thing", you can break down every game to this level of banality. People who bought it for the Halo 3 beta paid a hell of a lot to play a demo, but got a superb game for free. It's something I think everyone should try for an hour or so at a minimum. Then try it in co-op mode. Fully agree with Miffy, too: Game of the Year 2007 for me also at this point. Fucking brilliant it is.
  3. Crackdown Demo

Are you certain that the controls weren't explained in some interstitial loading screen, and you just weren't paying attention? This'd be the first for Xbox Live if it were the case. And run over to someone and then start mashing the controller?! I'd also like to know what thought process made you figure pressing the red button would result in good things happening? I suggest you give yourself a good slap, then fire up the demo again and enjoy yourself.
  4. *jo piddles in glee*

    That's piddle-poor.
  5. DEVELOP CONFERENCE: SOCIAL RETARD WATCH

As well as a lot of dandruff. Probably. You need to stay in more. And, to echo Rodi's sentiments:
  6. Best Xbox 360 Games?

That's definitely one I'm looking forward to as well. But it's so far off at this point, so I only listed stuff that's coming out in the next few weeks.
  7. Resident Evil 4 Wii

OK, so I've pressed on and have now made it across the lake and gotten stuck at the waterfall. I'm enjoying the game more now, though, so I'll probably try to finish it.
  8. Best Xbox 360 Games?

My personal Xbox 360 nuggets so far would have to be: Condemned: Criminal Originals Best launch title of any recent console and heinously overlooked. Crackdown Superb game, especially in co-op. Fight Night: Round 3 Simple, visually-stunning fun. Forza Motorsport 2 Easy to love and hugely addictive. Rockstar's Table Tennis Again, simple but extremely fun. My watchlist is currently: BioShock Will make everyone forget Gears single-player within weeks, in every sense. Lost Odyssey What it stands for, more than anything else (i.e. a 'deep' RPG title from a prestigious Japanese developer). Marathon: Durandal 8-player co-op sounds ridiculously enjoyable. Too Human The story and setting should make for a compelling experience; also has strong co-op potential.
  9. Resident Evil 4 Wii

I've finally gotten around to playing RE4 just this week, but the unhobbled (i.e. post-patch) PC version, which appears to be an emulation job of the PS2 version. Fairly indifferent to the game at the moment, but the Wii version certainly has me interested. Hoping a colleague who owns a Wii will buy it and bring it in sometime. He didn't seem bothered though, so I'll stick with trying to get into my semi-original, knocked off, patched up version for now.
  10. Consolevania am returned!

Ah-hah-hah-hah-ha! Now you mention it, that's spot on. Maybe he should appear in a police holding cell next time...
  11. Consolevania am returned!

    Certainly deserves them, too.
  12. Consolevania am returned!

As of this lunchtime, I am availed of the origin of "bummed in the gob" - most excellent.
  13. Happy Tree Friends False Alarm

Hmm... I just don't find HTF funny these days.
  14. Some homework my sister did a few years ago

I'm sure Dan or Ginger would willingly oblige...
  15. Consolevania am returned!

Likewise and I was almost crying at points. Absolutely brilliant stuff, especially the quips like, "And where's the best place to combine magical items? Why, in a frog's mooth of course!" I'm paraphrasing horribly, but you'll know where I mean if you've watched it. (And 'mooth' isn't a typo either.) You mean "Bad Influenth!" and it's ridiculous credit roll "data blatht". Yes, that was complete shite. Except maybe for Nam Rood, who lived in the shed dishing out tips and cheats: "Hello, furtlers!" Watershed moment for me; guarantees I'm hooked on this show, as I couldn't agree more (massively-over-hyped Space Invaders reskin that it is). Just remember: he's "not evil!"
  16. MASSIVE HYPOCRISY! It's in the game

I get a big blank space where the video should be in Safari on Windows--how anti-climactic.
  17. Phantom Hourglass footage

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XeNBBk-iTqc Do I ever regret selling my DS now...

  19. GTA IV trailer

I think the problem, in terms of impact, with the second trailer is that we've already seen what the game's going to look like. That was always going to be the single biggest difference with the move to next-gen. Now that that's out the way, I was skeptical of any further trailers setting the world alight. In some ways, it's reassuring to see that the GTA narrative formula remains the same. I'm not hugely excited about #4, but I enjoyed the various stories and acting in Vice City and San Andreas a lot. And the music; Vice City was heavenly. So I think of everything we've not yet been privelaged to, I want to know about the music most of all.
  20. Forza Motorsport 2

Anyone already playing this? I know it's been out in the States (at least) since last Monday, much to my chagrin, but isn't released in the UK until this Friday. Having become totally addicted to the original recently, via backward compatability, I can't wait to play the sequel with all it's next-gen (and gameplay) refinements. In fact, I'm off to pre-order mine tonight from Blockbuster; trading in Gears of War and paying £9.99 seems like a stonking deal to me. So it's bye-bye next-gen Operation Wolf, hello sexy-motor-racing-goodness-that-doesn't-automatically-despise-me-because-I'm -not-Michael-Schumacher. Yes, I'm looking at you, Gran Tourismo...
  21. Forza Motorsport 2

Yes, it was a great laugh, Miff. Apologies if that was chucking you in at the deep end--I assumed it was just the first time I'd seen you online playing Forza 2. Hopefully I'll be able to use voice chat next time.
  22. What are you waiting for?

Seeing as gaming's official slow month appears to be dragging on into multiples of said time span, owing largely to E3 being killed off, I was wondering what people are really looking forward to. Me? I'm really excited about playing Forza 2. The recent Xbox Live demo was excellent - easily the best I've played on the system to date - and the first game was so good I can't wait to sample the refinements of the next-gen iteration. In the mid-term, BioShock continues to look better and better. Especially now that the gameplay proper is coming to light. Can't wait to play that. And in the longer term, both Assassin's Creed and GTA4 are holding my attention consistently--with Assassin's Creed probably capturing the most. How about you?
  23. Nintendo announce WiiWare

http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/levelup/archive/2007/06/27/reggie-on-his-big-plans-for-a-little-nintendo-wiiware.aspxThat seems pretty concise to me. "[Taken] aback" is right! What a stupid comment for Fils-Aime to make. Like Nintendo are going to launch a new service to much fanfare, then allow 23 versions of the same "match three" puzzle game to come down the pipe. And what about mature content? Are we really expected to believe that Nintendo are just going to stand by and allow a brutal, violent game that does succeed in passing the ratings board, just turn up on the new channel unchecked? [Where's the 'pony crap' smiley gone?]
  24. Nintendo announce WiiWare

I was aware of the distinction in terms, but I'm not convinced the processes are mutually exclusive in Nintendo's case. I also didn't get the impression that Nintendo would allow any old thing into the catalogue—quite the opposite in fact. But this is just my personal interpretation of what's been said so far. Right now, I'm expecting the WiiWare channel to replicate XBLA (PSN's dismal lack of anything notwithstanding), except with greater indie input. Which should mean greater diversity and originality than the competing services form Sony and Microsoft. At least, if Nintendo get this right it should...
  25. What do people think of Blair and Brown?

    I am resolutely indifferent.
