It's so ironic, too, because I literally bought the game Sunday after reading the piece on Penny Arcade and making up my mind that, DRM aside, my money was going towards a worthy cause (namely, the survival of computer gaming). But I guess the joke's on him. McCain can have my money, but he can't have my vote.

Wario was always my favorite Mario-style side-scroller. (EDIT: Besides Cave Story, of course. And Knytt I guess.) The games had so much personality, and the art style is unique. I remember playing the one for Gameboy Advance, and there was a level that took place inside a pinball machine. Pretty cool stuff.

But they still have zeppelins. I think they may be trying to go for that whole retro-mecha-anime thing with the Empire of the Rising Sun, and as long as the cheesy cut-scenes are still in, so am I. http://www.gametrailers.com/player/36360.html Judging by this movie, the Japanese army is based around the idea of transformer-like adaptations. Air-land Sea-land Air-sea I think it's a cool idea.

At least (s)he's honest about being a shoe sales-person as opposed to a forum member.

Oh, on Saturday Night Live. I wasn't there there. It was really good though.

Not sure if this is a recommendation so much as a comment, but I just say Purple Rain today for the first time, and it was pretty much exactly what I expected: a shallow, B movie with some incredible performances by Prince. I guess that's a music recommendation there. After seeing Prince play some guitar live recently, I've come to appreciate him a lot more, and some of his stuff is actually pretty good. Anyway, 80's fun.

Oh, haha. Well, either way, the Deus Ex tune made me crack a smile. I'm stuck on the evolved form of pikachu. Any hints? And has anyone here not played Dwarf Fortress yet? It's quite awesome.

As beautiful as it is, I need someone to explain to me where the logic is in giving light-cycles the power to move in 3 dimensions.

This is awesome so far. Congrats. Love the Dwarf Fortress reference.

Hellboy was indeed incredible, I thought in some ways better than the first. I loved the first 2 Mummy's, but I have a big issue with an over reliance on CGI, and I was turned off by the badly-animated dragon thing.

Yufster: I think I can sympathize. I got a CD the other day, and I accidentally most of it. Lucky I didn't accidentally the entire thing, but it was damn close.

I love bizarre art books like this. Last December I bought a couple books by Wayne Barlowe, who illustrated three books (two about Hell and one about an alien world) with the intention of constructing believable worlds from the ground up that are fundamentally different from our own. Here are some images from the two projects. It's worth noting that his Inferno series inspired a lot of Guillermo del Toro's fantastic imagery (see "Decurion")and even did some design work for Hellboy. The imagery is often disturbing but there's something fantastic and beautiful about it. It reminds me of Hieronymus Bosch. Expedition was later made into a TV Miniseries.

I did some research last year on the Codex Seraphinianus, a book which took the author years to write, and is essentially an illustrated encyclopedia of a made up universe, complete with its own languages, species, and physical laws. It's amazingly bizarre, and if you ever get your hands on a copy, it's worth a few hundred dollars. Otherwise, you can find PDF's of it online.

Haha. I'm not, actually. I'm just trying to get a full-round education, and I figure programming is the only math course I'm remotely interested in. Again, I have no clue where my education will take me. Ideally, in ten years, I'll be happily drawing and writing things that will be simultaneously and instantly turned into every imaginable form of commercial media and I'll be rolling in heaps of cash. For now, I'll be content to stay a "student".

Yeah, 18. We're really not so different, you and I. Except I can't legally drink, although to be honest, it doesn't make much of a difference on campus. I have no direction in life at the moment, so I pretty much just chose things that had as little to do with each-other as possible. -Modern Chinese Film -Intro to Psych -Intro to Programming -Intro to Experimental Music

I'm in college!! Wooo! Arrived Tuesday. I think I'm on the younger end of the Idle Forums spectrum, and many of you have all been through this. I'm still finding my sea legs and haven't been online much.

I've got a guest pass if yet another person wants one, or if you people with one want another. I'd love it if somehow all the players in the world sent their passes to the same person, who'd play for free for the rest of his or her (hir) life. These are the thoughts that come to me at 2:32 am.

After three updates and a "letter" from a Golf Publication, I'm officially confused at this point. Does anyone know what Bogey Golf is about?

Looks like you're right.

This kind of things shouldn't happen in modern gaming... What next?
LOPcagney replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Once, when I was a younger, more naive gamer, I played through the old Mac game Power Pete and got all the way to the end, only to discover that the 5th of 5 worlds was only available on the hard difficulty mode. That crushed me. That was my "the princess is in another castle". -
So what time is this epic tourney? And in what time zone?
-
Yeah, haha. The only thing going through my mind was: Wow, that sounds like an awesome game. Reminds me of this.
