Is there a way we can just let people know that this thread is bound to be full of spoilers and get rid of all the spoiler tags?

Based purely on random web buzz, I'd say that since GTAIV was supposed to be an improvement on the franchise and Mario Kart wasn't, get GTA and replay MarioKart64.

What I meant to say was that I don't think we know Gaeta well enough yet. He's had some defining moments, such as his roll in season 3, but overall, I don't think that I could necessarily predict what he'd do in certain situations (the way I can with Adama, Starbuck, etc.). Not that that's either good or bad, but it definitely drops him to the level of other secondary or tertiary characters on the show. I love it.
-
I realize watching these new episodes that I really don't know what roll Gaeta plays in the series. Everyone else seems to have clearly defined personalities which give them appropriate entrances throughout the seasons. Gaeta is just... there, at least for 1 and 2. I thought season 3 Gaeta was by far the most interesting because of his interesting position in the first half of the season. I hope that Gaeta is on the Demetrius not just so that the audience recognizes a familiar face but in order to flesh out a character that didn't really get his fair chance to shine.

Yeah. A lot of good in that last episode.

yeah, I know. Still, it seems weird too me. I can't explain it really.

Is it just me, or does Medic achievement number 36 sound more flimsy than the other 35. I could see it taking a long time to get (with zero skill involved) and be eventually impossible (if the rest of the world magically manages to get all possible achievements). Somehow, just the idea that it could potentially become impossible and outdated makes me uncomfortable.

Some people attribute that to the fact that she has cylon blood in her from Hera. I'm operating optimistically under the principle that anyone who's been alluded to as being a cylon thus far is not the fifth. And Wrestle, I can't tell you how badly I want your theory to be true.
-
Please share your theory! And you reminded me...

I hope the final cylon doesn't let us down. Honestly, at this point, I think it would be too easy to turn Kara or Baltar into a cylon. I'd be personally disappointed because it would take away from their sort of arc struggles. Baltars so interesting because he's human. I seriously doubt it's Adama as well. I've heard people mention Gaeta, but though he's a great character, he doesn't have a huge roll in the show. In fact, part of me hopes that in the last ten episodes, some totally unheard-of civilian walks in and just completely turns the series upside-down. Finding out that almost half the main characters are cylons would feel funny to me just because of the sheer unbelievability of it. The first 4 are being handled pretty well so far, I jsut hope the fifth doesn't feel like a last-minute switch.

Yes! The in-head stuff is amazing. One of my favorite Battlestar moments was when

The Great "Rock Band" European Rip-Off!

Yeah. Normal price is around £30, right? Since it sounds like most of the mark-up is because of the peripherals, I assume the £50 price-tag on the disc is to take some of the weight off the cost of the peripherals, so that no one purchase is insanely high. -
I'm not sure if I've mentioned this here already, but definitely check out Diva. It's got to be one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's this really well-directed, beautifully-shot thriller-romance about a man who's obsessed with an opera singer (who swears that she'll never sign to a record company) and who creates a "perfect" bootleg of one of her concerts. The atmosphere of the film is incredible: It makes you want to live in an apartment in France in the '80s. Edit: This is perfect because it gives you a good idea of what to expect without giving anything away.

I actually like the whole cult-of-Gaius thing (at least for now: I can see it getting old quickly). I really do believe that Gaius will be one of the heroes of the show. He's been beaten down so much during the rest of the series that I feel empathy for him more than anything else. He certainly adds comic relief to the show, but he's an inherently tragic character, and I'm rooting for him. I'm glad Adama made the decision at the end of the opener that he did (with regards to Starbuck). I'm glad they were able to reconcile in some way and no one made any hasty decisions they would regret later.

To quote Metallus, "Cheer up, you sad fucks!". I'm not trying to insult anyone here, just voicing my opinion and honestly trying to put it in a way that's relatively unoffensive. "Outgrow" might not be the best word, but that's unintentional. I'm just telling you honestly that what "definitely made me lol" a few years ago doesn't now. It's not a maturity thing necessarily, just a personal observation. A little healthy and (I can't stress this enough) innocent criticism is good. Personally attacking people for their opinions is not.
-
No. Knowing me I'm not going to be able to say this in a way that doesn't sound pretentious, but the humor was definitely something you outgrow (ugh I was right) in my opinion. If you didn't enjoy it then you won't now.
-
Exactly. I haven't been to the sight in years. Same with Happy Tree Friends which is apparently a game now too. Edit: Apparently, it's going to be subtitled with "Cool Game for Attractive People", and the whole overly-long-utterly-irrelevant subtitle idea was dead even before "Colon Movie Film for Theaters".

I never saw Grave of Fireflies or Kiki's. I loved the rest though, and I think Castle in the Sky deserves a mention: I thought it was spectacular. I wasn't crazy about Howl's moving castle: There were one or two incredible scenes: But overall I thought it felt lazier than Spirited Away and the ending was a disappointment in my opinion. By the way, speaking of Howl's Moving Castle...

Well, here's the thing. I started with the first episode and didn't enjoy it too much. But I love the musical episode, Once More With Feeling. It sounds kind of funny singling out one episode like that, but I really did enjoy it. Those are the only two I've seen. OMWF has some interesting arc plot points that interested me as well: The whole villain-romance thing with Spike is a brilliant idea, and all their talk about mortality and what it means to be alive. I kind of wish I could love it. Should I give season 1 another chance? I've heard some people suggest that newcomers start with season 5...

Yup I was really disappointed with the pilot and stopped after the first episode. On a totally different note, but also through my utter love for Firefly, I've tried a couple episodes of Buffy and absolutely can't get into it. Can anyone speak in it's defense?

Just watched it today and throughly enjoyed it. In response to brkl, I think

Yup. That made me laugh. All in all, pretty good review, but its not all that groundbreaking to bash Army of Two. It's been getting some very negative press already.

It took me until after the guy kicked it to realize it wasn't the actual thing. And yes, this is what uncanny valley is, as as DanJW said. It's not about trying to imitate life but merely parody it in a way that is unsettling more than convincing.
