  1. Tomb Raider

Game Informer is owned by GameStop, FYI. It's possible that they have a decent editorial staff, but that fact alone has stopped me from ever considering reading it. Potential for huuuge conflicts of interest there.
  2. Bot quotes

I'm not sure why I just did this... http://www.sendspace.com/file/mgdnu1 (1 mb of OGGs) (Interpretive readings of a few of these Markov chain spammers on this forum. Mostly this dude's.)
  3. Bot quotes

It's either Markov chain generated text, a modern poet using online forums as his audience of choice, or a poorly translated dirty joke. "It is watered every forenoon to rearmost my garden."
  4. Insert Appropriate Title

Oh man, what's going to happen to all of Kotaku's human interest pieces* now? What's that? It's from 2009? *
  5. Halo Reach

Played a mission and a half with Wrestlevania a month or so ago. Had some fun with the sniper mission, but my connection was having trouble during a vehicle section and I managed to drive us both off a cliff. Looks like there's a new map pack out soon, which will probably lead to Bungie's inevitable removal of previously available playlist options for those who don't pay the toll.
  6. An Idle Thumbs Christmas Song Proposal

  8. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

"The Garden of Forking Paths" by Steve Goldberg and the Arch Enemies, a brass-heavy song from an EP inspired by Jorge Luis Borges' Labyrinths: http://songs.stevegoldbergmusic.com/track/the-garden-of-forking-paths
  9. Games magazines !

This is a list of things I've heard good things about: Kill Screen (first issue was fascinating, if a bit pricy) The Gamer's Quarter (freeish ezine) Some of Attract Mode's Zines? Jim Rossignol's This Gaming Life (book) Edit: Retroactively removing Extra Lives from this list.
  10. Bot quotes

Not only does this post canonize the role of WoW gold and power leveling in Blizzard's labyrinthine WarCraft story, but it also thinks that giving us the finger is a solid marketing tactic.
  11. L.A. Noire

Episode 45: http://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6818 The rabbi game's called The Shivah. I am quietly laughing to myself because (major spoilers for The Shivah) . In the first Driver game for the PS1 the pedestrians were so adept at dodging your car that they'd sooner clip through buildings and walls than be run over.
  12. The threat of Big Dog

Angela left off the thumb. She is a wicked impostor!
  13. Plug your shit

Uploaded a few silly two hour games I made earlier this year for the 573 in 1 Klik and Play Pirate Kart, since Clickteam just released a free version that exports to Newgrounds. Don't Flub Your Line: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/553759 The Trail: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/553758 The first is a short game about a kid who is nervous about his only line in a school play, while the second is a cheap parody of The Path.
  14. The blog with the interview not only has the sprites incorporated in its design, but is also the site most sourced by other blogs. The interview came first* as publicity for both the spriter and that blog, spread to several other small blogs, and then to Kotaku and outward. * At least in this wave of publicity. Looks like he got some fame on Reddit a month ago, which reinforced itself through taking requests. It's the online games journalism equivalent of a kitten stuck in tree story. Writes itself. Mostly inoffensive. Touches gamers in their nostalgia glands**. Gives the impression of caring about the little guy and their fans. Big blogs scoop/steal stories from each other all the time to appear on equal footing. Nothing to get worked up over. **I recognize that gaming character! I liked that game and am glad to see it getting recognition. Playing that game was time well spent. Etc.

  17. Backlog Busters

That's spooky. Just the other day I started updating mine. Still missing a few generations (namely N64 and DOS/early Windows), but it's really bloody staggering just how many games I haven't completed over the years. http://www.backloggery.com/noyb Good luck, Kroms!
  18. (IGN.com)

IGN on God Hand: 2006: "Flat-out sucks. 3/10" 2010: "It's easy to mistake God Hand for a terrible game. [...] God Hand is a seriously good game [...] #100 Top PS2 Game."
  19. Super Meat Boy! Boy is it hard!

Now at 74 band-aids, 78% completion and 4,554 deaths. Finally unlocked the dark world version of the final boss. Developed an honest-to-goodness blister on my thumb, so I guess it's time to give it a rest for now.
  20. Super Meat Boy! Boy is it hard!

Oh, man. This game is fantastic. If you've ever enjoyed any platformers, you'll love this. Beat worlds one and two, dark world one, and collected 22 band-aids. That's Ogmo, the star of Matt Thorson's Jumper series.
  21. Game Dev Story

@colinp: I was just looking for a gameplay writeup like this.
  22. Sorry to hear that 2k has no intention of bringing it to a larger audience. Funny thing is I was going to get the 360 version eventually until that Steam sale during the summer. Not picking up a second copy just for the opportunity to buy the DLC, as interesting as Minerva's Den sounds.
  23. Shakespeare + Samorost + Time traveler = Hamlet?

Oh, this game. Played the demo a while back. Cute graphics, and a few clever puzzles. Made some more spoilery comments over at its (mostly marketing-filled) TIGSource thread. I think it was $20 back when it was released, so I was a bit more hesitant to buy the full version after finishing 70% of the puzzles in the one hour demo. Looks like it's cheaper now.
  24. The sad sad tale of Tim Langdell

The actual court document is an awesome read for anyone who's been following the story.
