True, but it's a hypothetical example that I think corresponds somewhat to how fragmented left-wing politics is in the UK. To the extent that most people vote left of centre, but we still often end up with right wing governments. You're right though, in that example there should be a different drink in each column. The absolute simplest explanation I've seen is this: http://av-yes.com/ Which is hardly comprehensive, but at least does a good job of describing all that most people will have to worry about when voting. There's also this: Funny though I'm wary of a politics thread. I may not visit this much. They hardly ruin forums, but tend to end up containing endless arguments.

It's not pleasant when someone seems to have copied your work or brand. As a creative, or part of a small company, you usually have to ask whether it's worth the effort, hassle and sleepless nights of suing someone. Often it's not; it's true that game mechanics don't fall under copyright. I notice Johannes slipped in an early "We approached them, but they weren't interested" type statement, which could actually mean all kinds of things from "publishers are cautious/stupid" to "I am now attempting to cover my ass in public". It seems like FFG figured these guys would be easy to sue, but don't have much of a legal case. Christian Petersen has probably received a royally huge bollocking from the rest of the company (Ah, he's CEO) his lawyer for saying as much as he has on BGG. Both ends of the situation are horrible positions to be in, and typically people outside the situation root for the little guys as long as they don't appear to be scumbags. My instincts tell me to side with Puffin Software, which makes me a bit uneasy.

There are a bunch of people spending the day at Nottingham Hackspace who don't give a toss. I'd say <5% of people I know care about it, but that's not exactly an unbiased sample.

Unfortunately, the No To AV campaign seems to be bankrolled by all of the wealthy status quo interests that benefit from the present system leading to fragmentation of the left, and polls indicate the UK maybe about to vote for more of the same It's a shame about the outright fucking lies they've been spreading, because AV is really not that hard to understand. I'm spreading the word as much as I can, but braced for dogshit.

Made even more hilarious by the way it goes on for four minutes: etU_wtP5Pck

Thanks you all. Thought I'd escaped I didn't actually do much for it this year, since the Nottingham Hackspace is moving and I just started my own company, so every day is pretty busy, and I'm poor for a while. Within a few months though, there will be a robot fancy dress party. That Neti pot ad is a joyfully horrific thing to wake up to

Nice! Would love to get a road bike too, even with semi-slicks the MTB can be a thrash. Is it for commuting, touring, or occasional rides?

I saw The Room this afternoon. It did not disappoint. It's a soft-porn tragedy that turned out to be hilarious. The dialogue and body language of the actors is comedically stilted throughout, it has awkward sex scenes that feel like watching a nature documentary with a saxophone soundtrack, and all of the characters are like five year olds in adult bodies. The friend who runs the film club summed it up well in the introduction he gave: "Ten minutes in you'll wonder why you're watching this, then at the end you'll feel your life is significantly better". Fun with: Alcohol, friends.

I have no idea if they use any actual analogue synths, but EU have a very warm sound compared to most electronic artists: http://us.7digital.com/artists/eu/warm-math Can't find any on youtube, but that album is fantastic. -

 Forbin, there's an entire black market of 0 day exploits out there. Even if the white hat community had the budget to buy every exploit found and offered for sale by black hats, study it then shut it down as fast as possible, which they don't, economics would quickly put that out of reach as demand increased. Disclosure is by far the best policy.

Lovely! I was hoping he'd do something like the wave at the end as soon as I saw it. I can think of more aesthetic than practical uses for them A friend showed me this yesterday too, and it's incredible work: Y226Lr7m5L8 It's beautifully thought through and executed. -
They seem to have got rid of any options whatsoever for deleting stored payment information. Web and client :/ Much as I like Valve and Steam, that actually sucks balls. It's pretty shitty to not give users control over that and assume the data will never be breached.

I've not seen sucker punch, and won't, but a friend who did summed part of it up this way: and: Based on the trailer, I'm prepared to believe that.

Edit: Really interesting article Kingz. The housing crises, recession and resulting economic "reforms" seem to be vapourising the middle class. -- Something says to me that this video shouldn't be funny, but set against the title "Cool guy has chill day" it makes me giggle like a loon. 4txVqr1eNwc

Wow. The Silent City, by the same director, is pretty ominous.
