This from Pakozdi: https://twitter.com/#!/Super__Yan/status/174340858362077186 This from the Neogaf thread: This from Capcom: That kind of language from Capcom makes me wary. It's non-specific and reeks of double-talk.

It's much worse than shortcomings of Conservative ideology. In response to concerns over the health bill, David Cameron called an emergency meeting, but only invited institutions that he thought would support it. They didn't, going off script and raising numerous concerns of their members. The Conservatives promised that any petition on epetitions that got over 100,000 signitures would lead to a debate in parliament. This one, with nearly 170K, is being ignored. Here is a list of members of the Conservative party that have vested interests in private healthcare companies. Oh, there's this too. What they're doing is fucking outrageous and obviously corrupt.

Not always. A huge priority for hardware vendors is to revise and make it more profitable over time, which partly comes from revisions of the internals, and partly from hardware of the same spec becoming cheaper to produce. I doubt the current generations of 360 and PS3 are loss-making, and apparently Nintendo made sure each Wii was profitable from the start.

I've been binging a bit on electronica too recently, I love it even though it tends to make me sad after a while. Not on youtube, but I love Gable Mountain by scntfc: https://vimeo.com/16745853 This Binärpilot album is available for free or a donation if you want it: DZoCQFn8_ik Excellent analogue stuff by Belbury Poly: yGW05V7nCOQ This was new to me recently: tXJq97J7Q7g and I've always loved this BoC remix: QvfVeP-K1AY -
The Authority is ok, but it's much more like traditional superhero fare, and constantly has potentially world ending threats and drama in it. There are a couple of characters that are essentially analogues of Batman and Superman, and they do some really nice things with them. I much preferred Planetary though, as it's set in the same world but about that world being full of unusual and sometimes lovely things, and the protagonists actively trying to make it a better place rather than just defeat threats. -- Uh, life stuff. Today, I tested a home made chest mount for cameras, and got some nice mountain bike footage. Also this still of doing 40mph down a hill near my house. (Edit: Gah, http://twitpic.com/8qacd5 ) It works well. I also went to the hackspace, where someone had bought an old wheelchair, and we messed around with it and learned to do some tricks. Apparently I'm a natural at wheelies, and within minutes could hold them, roll around while balancing, and spin on the spot without the front wheels ever touching the ground. Wheelchairs are fun! I did fly out of it backwards a couple of times though.

Easily my favourite panel from the entirety of Planetary

I usually use subtitles just so I can get through dialogue faster. Games that don't allow skipping through them drive me insane.

Disheartening: One person has come back to me so far, as outraged as me, but with bosses saying "Yeah, we're not writing about this at all". Capcom say "Not our views guys!" and everyone winks. Heartening: Every time I've looked in the Giantbomb comments, including clicking onto random pages, there are more people denouncing it than defending it. Including the ones on this update about Aris trying to do damage control: http://www.giantbomb.com/news/aris-aris-bakhtanians-releases-statement-on-recent-comments/4007/

Thanks. There are too many people committing this shit and not enough people fighting it. Forwarded the link and email to select press contacts

Yeah, I couldn't find it either. It appears that the marketing manager in charge is Matt Dahlgren though, and his email is listed as: mattd [at] capcom [dot] com I sent him this:

Who are his sponsors?

That worries me about gaming. Not just that it puts people off, but to those that remain, regardless of gender, it's normalised and each problem reinforces the other.

That's staggering. Most unpleasant bits quoted: "Layers of ethics" He seems to confuse his own asshattery with an integral part of the games. He either knows he's spouting a fallacy shored up by a dodgy analogy, or he's monumentally stupid.

Yeah, that was a real shame. It looked amazing, but despite the live demo they did at World of Love being funny, it was a technical project struggling to become a game. It seemed to me like the kind of thing that would be excellent to lay games like Colony Wars 2 or G-Police on top of, but several other companies beat them to procedural city middleware while they were developing it. Middleware also doesn't seem like the kind of thing Introversion would want to do. Fun fact: They have a very capable sound designer working on Prison Architect. He has all kinds of ideas on the psychology of audio and tricks it could play on gamers. I'm not sure if any of that will make it in, but he's itching to explore it.

Can you trust the "Can you trust the "Can You Run It?" site?" thread? I think Hyetal nailed it, and I only rely on demos if I'm not sure. I've been to occasional LAN parties with only older games, and sometimes despite a spec very far ahead of the requirements, a game just would not run well. Sometimes you get lucky; for instance my old nail of an underpowered gaming PC with a notoriously unstable model of GPU got all the way through S.T.A.L.K.E.R. with only two crashes, and that was much better than it did with most games. With all my gaming PCs, I've hit a point where "Will it run?" becomes too much hassle to answer, then just give up on current games for a year or two and shuffle over to consoles.

Vanquish, it is a bit like every bit of amazing in the world ever, vol 2
Nachimir replied to twmac's topic in Video Gaming
(I meant meat circus, of course) All I can remember: Learning the arena and all the cycles in which pieces of cover change was vital, along with a lot of running away. I think the arena has three states. Focussing entirely on one of them until he was dead, before even trying to shoot the other, was the only way I could last. Once I'd got those things down, I only had to fail the final QTE a couple of times before finishing it. I think that the endless retrying and deaths also meant that I could use some of the ammo near the arena start to repeatedly and fully upgrade weapons I hadn't really bothered with. I'd specialised in the assault rifle and machine gun all the way through the game, but think I switched to rockets for a lot of this. -
Yes, there were a few really quiet episodes, though some good character development with them.

How long have you been trying? It is a ball busting difficulty spike of meat factory circus proportions. I think I had to read a couple of strategy guides then persevere for an hour or so, but it's possible. I have never screamed such a hearty "fuck you" at any other Video game antagonist. -
Ngah! Same as James, I've been watching it on Netflix, so stuck at the end of season 2. I was wondering exactly how they'd steer it away from "Yay! Drugs! Success!". Very deftly done. My jaw fell open in the scene where . Also, the . The actors are excellent, and the writing and direction build up to some supreme moments without dwelling on stuff too much. After binging on two series at once, it seems like the writers know quite far in advance where they want it to go, and do some really subtle setting up. I like that its major arcs aren't confined to single series either. For instance, .

This is now less than $5K away from passing Venus Patrol.

I got started on Breaking Bad this weekend and am near the end of series 2. Holy fuck it's good, and the cast is one of the best I've seen in anything for ages.

I'm calm, but this is something I really care about I'm not getting at you. I totally understand the joke you were trying to make, exactly like the post toblix made immediately after isn't actually him finding rape funny. I know Idle Thumbs is a very long way from the Unilad type stuff that Thunderpeel mentions, but there are all kinds of less visible and more subtle things that feed into it. As I said just before the Louis CK video, replace "white" with "male". Rape jokes are intimately bound up with male privilege and male insecurities, and despite a bunch of us not struggling so much with them, those insecurities are a pretty common topic in this thread. I really believe that solving those insecurities would be good for everyone, not just young guys who want to fuck. PUA stuff may lead men to sex, but it also leads culture in a really bad direction, generally the direction of actually thinking "rape, lol". That's endemic to some gamer communities, and like Thunderpeel, I'll fucking fight it whenever it threatens to start putting any roots down whatsoever. That wasn't aimed at you, which I hope was obvious. I didn't mean to imply that I thought you were actually propagating it.
