How to best explain Brutal Legend to your friends...
Nachimir replied to ThunderPeel2001's topic in Video Gaming
Surfer Girl explains: -
They aren't that bad. I think the comment about them being "15 minutes" long set me up for a bigger frustration Quote from my boss about Mass Effect: "The thing I hate about Mass Effect is that I used the character creation system, messed around too long with it and thought 'fuck it, I can change it later'. I've ended up with this fishmouthed mullet of a woman I really hate looking at, and I'm too far in to want to start again. I have to put the helmet on a lot."

"Old hat" has been the traditional response on most literate gaming forums I've seen, usually linked to an old thread or post. The Black Cat Games* forums even have an old hat smiley: * The mod team, not to be confused with a game torrents site that has a similar name

Thank you ysbreker. I can't believe I only just got around to this! It's .

Something especially impressive about it, from the comments at RPS:

If you are stupid enough to have bought an iPod and use it to listen to music via 360

I have a 2G Nano. It's unlikely I'll hook it up to the 360, but if you solve the issue I'd be interested to hear about it. -
Welcome Tracer. Deus Ex fan, eh? Super

The same thing is happening to Bully, again, despite that the BBFC have stood up and defended it before: The games industry in general is absolutely fucking awful at defending itself, though it's nice to see Rockstar trying to counter it with concise PR: It doesn't seem to matter though Some hack or grandstander makes shit up, it's gets reported, then any kind of reasoned response gets ignored by anyone outside the industry.

I think that might be a misconception similar to "Psychologists are analysing you"... Than again, I don't know many actors.

Are you referring to the lack of PS3 subjects? We get a show of hands at one of our game developer events, for the last year or so it's been: "Who has a Wii?" *quite a few hands* "Who has a 360?" *sea of hands* "Who has a PS3" *tumbleweed* "Aww, poor old Sony". There are a few more each time, but never that many.

You're going to be so disappointed when you land on random planets. Get ready for heightmaps!

Gaia online have got some new stuff for sale, and they're kind of interesting because they put out physical editions of some of their in game items. I'm only posting because what I saw there this morining made me laugh so much though Tentacle Arm: http://www.gaiastore.com/servlet/Detail?no=221 ORLY Hat: http://www.gaiastore.com/servlet/Detail?no=188 Ninja hood: http://www.gaiastore.com/servlet/Detail?no=222 Tentacles for me this Halloween

Probably something Cthulu-ish

Played with a 42 inch Viera at a friend's house last weekend, they're very good. Assassin's Creed looked a treat on it. Housemate has a 37 inch Samsung, and in terms of picture quality they're both pretty boggling. Each has 2 HDMI inputs too.

The smell of Sambuca still makes me feel a little sick. I had quite a bit of it on my 26th birthday, vommed everywhere, then got carried home on a table. I don't remember, but apparently being moved was so distressing I asked my mates to stick a stamp on me and shove me in a postbox instead. Supermarket garlic bread also makes me sick since I accidentally ate one that had gone off. -- The solution to clotted cream cheescakes, obviously, is liposuction.

There hardly ever seem to be opportunities to use explosive scenery well in Mass Effect, but it often seems to make itself a vulnerability for you.

Ben does some very good writing for ZP, but he's prolific and I think it takes the shine off.

Some open "churches" will just love bomb you anyway. Highlights of this video were shown on Channel 4 News tonight

Enemy biotics are really annoying, and one of the reasons I found I needed one on my team. I had to repeat a few boss battles and rely heavily on abilities to get them right, and they were mostly made manageable by a team member using the throw and singularity powers to turn enemies into flying, helpless pistol targets. I found early in the game it was also worth just carving through a few side missions to level up and do more damage, though I'm under the impression the bosses scale with the player.

As an ex-cult kid, I have a special fondness for Scientologists and the like. It involves them rimming me while piss on a pile of their books. I only realised that video was made by Scientologists at the end. Until then I thought someone else had edited it unfairly then put the mission impossible theme in for maximum laughs

Because 1080i and 1080p are different ways pf processing the image, which don't necessarily follow from screen resolution. 1080i is not just another way of showing 720p; they're different things. 720p: Progressive scan, 1280 * 720 pixels. 1080i: Interlaced scan, 1920 * 1080 pixels. The reason a given TV can do 1080i but not 1080p is to do with the way it processes images. I think interlaced scan is kind of like the pointlessly huge number of megapixels manufacturers are shoving into digital cameras. *i will get to a given resolution before *p or less expensively, but it confuses people and is ultimately a dick measuring contest with added "first!".

Alas :-( The screens where I looked were all showing a football (soccer) match, it seemed to be an okay thing to compare across panels because of all the movement. That appears to be some shit hot awesome advice from Toblix, BTW. If you want HDTV in some kind of perspective, there's a visual comparison of screen sizes here. What you say above about frame rates isn't particularly accurate - there are 1080p setups that go up to 60 frames, i and p are simply about the way the image is processed rather than frame rate (Also, most image sources won't supply 60FPS - DVD will be 24 for instance). 1080p will technically give a better image than 1080i, as the interlacing on 1080i can apparently generate artefacts.

I can pratically feel the first author's hot, wet, pulsing dignity struggling to get out of his trousers. It's also an especially nice counterpoint that the second site has ads beside the article, which use busty blondes to sell tight t-shirts with conservative slogans on them and I really like the part where he switches to the journo technique known as "outright making shit up": It's a kiss and a bare bum! Outside of marrage! Gay! Tape up your children's bottoms and barricade the door! I guess that's a vote for Clinton then

Go to a store and compare it with other panels of the same size; year on year there's a marked difference in quality. I was looking at two Samsung 37 inch panels side by side last week, both 720p, one was £450 and the other £600. The cheaper had awful colour compared to the more expensive one and couldn't handle any fast camera pans without making a shitload of artefacts. My housemate runs a 360 on a HDTV at 720p. The only thing he's noticed any slowdown with was Oblivion, many other games have been fine.
