  1. Half-Life 2

What about Jeezus fucking wept. I hated them unless I had a bunch of explosives handy.
  2. Awesometris!

    That's... interesting
  3. Dead Rising

Ah, no. Thanks for the heads up, I'd read about that shortcut and was wondering if I had to defeat him to open it up or not. (Might be too late? it's 5 a.m. on the second day in my current play through). My inventory tends to be baseball bats + sports book (because bats are much faster than the sledgehammer, and getting stuck in the tunnels once next to a bust car was enough to teach me to always have a book and weapon combo), plus a mix of SMG, orange juice and katanas. People have said such good things about the chainsaws that I think I'll bump off the clown to get them though.
  4. Dead Rising

Erm. Bump. I've only just got around to this. It's harsh. I ended up running over tens of thousands of zombies just to get myself past level 20 to make the game easier. Questions: I guess I can ignore them now I've got the key to the maintenance tunnels, but I take it driving through them means not being able to take survivors?
  5. Half-Life 2

You're on the way to Ravenholm? Yikes
  6. Off-Road Velociraptor Safari

Maybe? I don't know. (The thing I wasn't sure if I could talk about publicly before: brontosaurus ragdolls )
  7. DoW: Soulstorm

It's actually a proper box set in a slipcase, just the first three though.

I kind of like that interpretation. It affected me deeply, but I think I'll need another viewing before I figure out exactly why. Also, I hated the hitman character a lot at the beginning of the film, but less so at the end for some reason. The dialogue of the scene where he
  9. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

They're pretty good The Lost Levels might be worth checking out too. They have a wussier sound, but have done some 8bit stuff too. The New Early Sheets and Endboss are probably the most gamey there.
  10. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Aha House, techno, dance, breaks, drum and bass, a spot of gabba and dubstep too. I went to see the Plump DJs at Stealth recently, and there was one room of techno and one of breaks - best night I've ever had in a club

That podcast you linked is fucking awesome, I have been having an excellent Wednesday afternoon as a result. Thank you I've not tried him yet, but my housemates rave about him. One even passed up Portishead to see him on a different stage last December.

I know what they mean - I'm really 50/50 about it and found Be Kind Rewind tipped over the edge, even though much of it, especially the movie recreation sequences, was absolutely laugh out loud hilarious. It just seemed... to lack structure or commitment. He seemed to be making points about the intersection and differences between extreme fandom and piracy, but never got really explicit about it.
  13. Richard Hilleman is up at Frymaster's mirror too now

Has anyone else seen Be Kind Rewind yet? It made me laugh a lot with plenty of Gondry's typical silliness, but overall I didn't think it was a brilliant film.
  15. DoW: Soulstorm

Hmm. I just don't trust them after the IG bayonets being the best anti-building for a while, then the Kroothounds with shapers being able to destroy an entire base in about 15 seconds. And the meagre 250 or so people in the lobby at any one time - it could take forever to start a decent sized match sometimes. Hmm ¬¬ Have you tried much online play? Are there any spam tactics showing up with this one yet? I think I'll wait and see... Edit: Also, just in case anyone is interested in picking them up, I saw a box set of the first three games for £10 in Zavvi the other day.
  16. Richard Hilleman is still missing for now though... The guy with the most populated HTTP mirror in the RPS comments is tracking it down.
  17. Where to buy domain names?

123-reg.co.uk seem to be the de facto standard when I ask any web professionals in the UK where they register their domains.
  18. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

:O Any good? I saw them last December. The old songs they played in the set were identical to the album versions ¬¬
  19. Lack of Banter.

Allow me to fill some of the void by announcing that Monday the 10th of March is The International Day of Awesomeness http://www.dayofawesomeness.com/ http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=6393140589
  20. I think because reactions to it vary so much and people are adaptive. There's little that's guaranteed to get the same reaction from everyone, and horror games already go for it in spades. Anything more subtle people tend to get accustomed to and just adapt it out, i.e. once I unconsciously know something isn't real, the negative reaction to uncanny visuals stops. That's an interesting idea; it of reminds me of Passage, which uses a lot of 8bit-like limitations in an expressive way (I recommend playing it before reading the creator's statement).
  21. audiosurf: Holy funk!

Oh man. I've got to get it just so I can do that. Finding something obscure enough will be easy... Edit: http://www.dieselsweeties.com/shirts/elitism/
  22. EA tries to buy Take Two

All of them are going to get bought by someone, even EA. Worldwide, other media industries are fucking huge and have deep pockets, yet look what happened with UK retail last year: http://www.mcvuk.com/news/29787/Its-official-games-revenues-overtake-music-at-retail
  23. RE0 Wii

http://softrockhallelujah.blogspot.com/2008/03/wegman.html I wonder if it has a happy e... oh fuck it, no.
  24. Alliance and Leicester are Shit

Only 8 pokemon stab places to go until this thread hits the top spot. Also, hurray for banks loading exchange rates to take a cut, then also levying foreign transaction fees on top.

Likewise, I really respect the writers for not finding a cop out of the situation they'd set up. Though
