That charmed me more and more as I went down the page. Backed, and I hope they have alate rush and make it.

Great news, brkl. How are things turning out, Miffy?
  3. Feminism (aaaaaaargh).

    Ohio plate though…
  5. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

I only noticed the bumper sticker the second time I looked ¬¬
  6. Feminism

In response to weev being released from prison, a blog post about troll culture and trolls policing women's behaviour, that probably won't be up for very long:
  7. The threat of Big Dog

"Dave, please stop calling me Jibo. My name is Bonzi Buddy now."
  8. The threat of Big Dog

Internet of things malware is going to be fun!
  9. The threat of Big Dog

The instant someone programs that thing to tell kids off, it'll be no match for a bunch of eleven year olds with sticks.
  10. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I saw this facebook post, but didn't want to spread it. Well I guess viral character assassination of Zoe for things she did seven years ago vindicates all the gaters who've been emphatically stating "It isn't about her!" ¬¬
  11. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

As a few people have stated, it seems to be a named part of the background radiation of the internet now. It won't let up for women or any other people they target, but mostly, they'll be ready to exploit any PR opportunities that fly their way. The majority of gamers don't seem to care, and what I doubt gaters can sustain at bulk is the "You might have been misinformed" narrative they perpetuate on Twitter whenever someone points to their abuses and the roots of their campaign.
  12. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Yes, someone said that in response to me posting it. I also saw it weeks ago in response to a (male) indie developer saying "Hey gamergate, I made this game, this friend reviewed it for [popular blog], and not only do we know each other, he also worked on the game before becoming a games journalist. Why aren't you giving us a kicking?". A few said "Thanks, we'll get to this later", but of course it sank without trace.
  13. Paraphrasing a tweet I saw earlier: "Idiot thinks he's invented propaganda; assumes US military, administration, establishment not already familiar with it".
  14. Use of Weapons

I loved that book when I was 18, though I'm not sure I'd love it the same if I was reading it for the first time now. … which in turn went on to shape a lot of my outlook when it comes to the narratives we're typically presented in films, games, etc. that are aimed at guys or present masculine images. One example: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

  16. Our favourite moments of play

Some of my fondest memories are from the original Dawn of War. I played a lot of 4v4 online with other friends, sometimes all in the same room, so able to shout stuff to each other rather than use chat. We developed strategies that let units from different races support each other throughout very fast but otherwise catastrophically flawed build orders. I'm not very good at strategy by myself, but the four of us were efficient together, and it's one of the few experiences games have given me where it felt like we all had each other's backs. In one game I raced to powerful, long range but weak artillery at the expense of pretty much any other units. Some enemy anti-vehcile infantry snuck around the map, I had no backup, so drove the artillery pieces in different directions away from them. Two of my three tanks were pixels of health away from death as I figured that out, and the enemy unit moved in a visibly confused and panicky way as tanks not intended for such short range work surrounded, cooled down and destroyed them. Another game I played Eldar and built, at the cost of having any useful early game units, grav tanks (anti-infantry) and anti-vehicle infantry. Just as my three friends were getting pushed back by a well rounded enemy army, I jumped the tanks over the map, unloaded the infantry who then destroyed their vehicles from behind in seconds, and watched as the remaining infantry then had to retreat past the tanks, which they couldn't kill and lost about 70% of their guys to. Oh, and sneakily building an Eldar gate behind an enemy base, baiting them into the middle of the map, then unloading your entire army directly into their base never got old. We loved the sight of space marines suddenly changing direction.
  17. Last year this was an April Fool's joke: Fnar! I wonder if Microsoft are doing this just to grab attention. Because if so, it seems a bit… Steve Ballmer in a spinning bow tie.
  18. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Likewise with my Twitter feed (the outrage from developers, not the GG people looking for mentions). Edit: I know which friend you're talking about, I've met her and she's lovely. I suspect she's suddenly being targeted and I'm not because of our respective genders
  19. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Weird gifs aside, "Letter writing campaign coordinated" is hardly a smoking gun. It's not like they're talking about using sock puppets there or anything. If you want to write to Intel too though:
  20. Life

At EGX last week, a group of Assassin's Creed cosplayers annoyed me by obliviously jabbing everyone around them with their scabbards while queuing for lunch. A few minutes later, one of them went to sit down with a pizza and accidentally fired some spring loaded wrist blades through it
  21. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Dang indeed. :foot in mouth: Probably worth a bunch of industry people writing to Intel…
  22. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

    Gamasutra confirmed it:

My one regret about moving to the sticks I really miss optical fibre, and Youtube5 with a short wait is the only thing that makes most video playable in HD.
  24. Life

I wondered what your tweets were in reference to this morning. She sounds amazing.

If that assault happened, gaters would just deny any association in exactly the No True Scotsman way they do already. GG is at a point where people can condemn abuse and harassment, but their goals can also make them highly biased over which abuses they turn a magnifying lens or blind eye to.
