  1. Idle thumbs London meet!

That's getting forwarded to a bunch of Phonogram fans I know He's pretty shaven headed now, or at least was when I glimpsed him this summer.
  2. Life

I went on a date the other night with a cute girl who does martial arts, rides a motorbike, and enjoys programming. It feels like something out of a Scott Pilgrim comic ¬¬

  4. Grand Thumb Auto 38: FUCK NICK

THIS WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS THE BIGGEST BACKSTAB IN CONSOLE GAMING HISTORY ahem Yeah, that's a real shame, I was thinking during the single player that those races were going to be really good fun online :/. I'm not griping at what I'm getting with GTA episodes/games because they're still mostly excellent, but some of Rockstar's design choices are weird.

I think this should only be read using Chris' best pedant geek voice:

:0 I'm amazed at how melodramatic some of those are: "Short campaign. No dedicated servers. 60 dollars. Junk. Save your cash. Short campaign. No dedicated servers. 60 dollars. Junk. Save your cash. Short campaign. No dedicated servers. 60..." <-- I hear urgent Morse code sound effects in the background of this one. "has been turned into a pile of crap due to lazy devs who could care less about the needs and wants of a community." <-- Laziness: exactly what triple-A title developers have a reputation for. "What the developers of mw2 have done will go down in history as the biggest back stabbing in gaming history"

Running people over with nitro is fantastic fun, as was blowing unprepared skydivers off the top of the empire state building. I'm glad the Buzzard was left lying around in free mode. Also: Racing bikes with nitro I missed the first half, what's this about interiors? The one deathmatch I was in (around the station) was pretty good fun, the new weapons all seem really powerful but not as powerful as rockets. All in all, it's a shame that ice cream vans and fire trucks are missing, and that there's not a more directed gametype with the base jumping, but it wasn't terrible.
  8. GTA: The Ballad of Gay Tony

Did anyone else catch the taxi driver reference? Also, yes, the explosive shotty makes the last few missions fairly easy. Thanks for the tip, probably wouldn't have got out of the club without trying that. somehow managed to get through every following bit of the mission on just a tiny sliver of health.

Hah! Didn't notice that Also, if there were a photographer duel, n0wak would blow me to smithereens.

Flip down LCDs: likely to get you beaten up in some towns ¬¬ I did a bit of a write up of the whole indie arcade week here: http://pixel-lab.co.uk/indiegamesarcade/2009/11/thank-you/ and photos from the evening are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pixellabphotos/tags/showyell/

Thanks to whoever found and tweeted that through the igndotcom account. It's Command Prompt 65, 49m40s I think they're talking about another, more recent, now nuked and much less funny parody account, which basically had lots of swearing and abuse in it. That account followed @igndotcom and @ed us with "Wannabe", but I blocked them because they were shit. They appeared to be actually trying to pass themselves off as IGN.
  14. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

The soundtrack to Moon is on Spotify.
  15. Heavy Rain

I took a look at other people playing it and thought "Quick time events, yay :shifty:" It's very cinematic, and I did feel a twinge watching the guy chained up and heading for the car crusher, but as a game it looked so I didn't even feel the urge to play it.
  16. PCs and Consoles and Clouds... Oh My!

A great tip on electricity is to just run cables from your neighbor's house. Ideally, you wait until they're on holiday, dig a trench between your houses, break in and make connections, and they never find out.
  17. I'm up for some BOGT, but don't mind vanilla.
  18. GTA: The Ballad of Gay Tony

I don't care about scores for them, but there were so many missions I really enjoyed, and didn't always have saves that would allow me to go back to them.
  19. GTA: The Ballad of Gay Tony

Oh hell yes, I've been wanting this in every single GTA game.
  20. Life

    Fuck, sorry :-(
  21. No, I think I've seen photos of this in use. It's made so you can slouch forward with your elbows resting on the raised part, I think. Edit: yes. Does not look comfortable for long sessions :/
  22. Life

Ah, I hope the rest of your time in London was good; it was nice to meet you. I guess everywhere near Paddington closed a while before 5?
  23. Idle thumbs London meet!

Thank you all for coming up to the indie thing, it was good to meet so many of you When the screen was fucked I almost went into a flap, but then thought "Room full of people, beer and a megaphone. How can this not be fun?" It was rapidly going off the rails near the end, we'd almost used all of the bar tab and it was a fairly big one. Mark Morris speaking directly into Chris Delay's face with the megaphone, then the accidental lamp smashing seemed like a suitable end.
