My bad. I'm learning a lot about what dozy fucks some car drivers are as a cyclist. Two arguments through the car windows of people who've almost killed me in three months of riding so far, and a couple of middle fingers delivered to abusive drivers as I overtake them in traffic jams. I didn't notice, but probably watched too infrequently to. As Wrestle said, most people would probably be a bit different afterward, even if they are in front of a camera. The major change I noticed was when Trinny and Susannah appeared to have got hold of him. Suddenly he was all stupid hair, pointy shoes and screen-printed suit jackets.

*This* is a car review Disclaimer: I like actual Americans.
  3. Life

^ I saw that (oops, no hotlinking) this and thought of this thread. It's a sad end to the plaque, but not necessarily his life. I admire his strength. Sorry to hear about your problems Kroms. So here's a story: There's a girl (not the recent ex) who things got pretty intense with. So intense, and with an intractable conflict, that we had to give it up. In a month, we've bumped into each other highly improbably in two cities that neither of us live in. I was pootling along quite happily single, and puzzlingly still feel that way, yet after the second time I'm having a sudden relapse over her. I think it's more about the connection there was between us than my current urges/needs. The way she's looked at me the few times we have been in the same room in the past year hasn't helped. I need to nuke my heart from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

Yeah, I watch an occasional episode, but really get sick of keeping up with any given series. Anything particularly amazing generally gets mentioned a lot anyway. A lot of the formula is really obvious, right down to "put the hottest women at the front of the audience". I kind of grudgingly admire how mercenary it is as entertainment.
  5. Post your face!

Yeah, I can't believe not one person involved spotted that. It's an absolute outrage. In fact this goes beyond outrage into nerdrage. It's a disgrace; an utter fucking disgrace.
  6. Red Dead Redemption

I'm into the third act. As others have said, the dialogue isn't great, but I love the way it's using the map to tell the story of men like John Marston becoming, well, obsolete. I felt really out of place on entering . I've possibly been playing a bit too much. I was cycling earlier, and on catching sight of a brightly coloured plant in my peripheral vision my first instinct was to stop and pick some.
  7. Post your face!

You just ruined mentos and coke forever.
  8. Red Dead Redemption

    I guess: No wifi dongle?
  9. Red Dead Redemption

Yeah, very similarly. I was gutted the first time I lost one, then realised I could call them fairly quickly. I've used a couple to break my fall off small cliffs when I'm in a hurry and need the shortcut to get away from someone or something. I too shot one in the head accidentally while trying to get an attacking cougar, the resulting "Honour -50" was a real insult in addition to then being killed by the cougar. Also called one while in the gullies near Hennigans Stead. It appeared on the cliffs above, and threw itself off them trying to get down, landing beside me in a heap of broken legs. Simultaneously , and

Woo, didn't realise it was so close to release. Really looking forward to it. :violin:
  11. Wizaaaaaards!!

He looks like an also-ran from Shark Skin Man and Peach Hip Girl, which is kind of organised crime. Maybe these advertisers are doing it deliberately? It got our attention.
  12. Life

That's a lovely pair of posts together.
  13. (I think I PMed you about Stewart Lee. I think. Really enjoyed his comedy vehicle, and that Ang Lee section). *ahem* Tired Gay succumbs to Dix in 200 meters
  14. Red Dead Redemption

Exactly the same happened to me while I was getting the red sage. I'd acquired a shitload of stuff without selling it or saving too, so had to go back to get the feathers again Survivalist maps are vital for those missions, plus you can easily find plants totaling a value several times over the cost of the map.
  15. Watching other people play games

The original Dawn of War allowed export and loading of replays, and there was a definite community around this and the ladders. The biggest problem was that the data itself was very stripped down to minimise file size, and relied on all the stats in the game to reproduce many things at runtime. As a result, patches always made replays of games from older versions unplayable.
  16. Watching other people play games

This isn't so far beyond "Some game features may upload data to the Rockstar Social Club" and so on. I'm normally pretty hot on privacy, but this is a case in which I don't care. Watching the way I game is unlikely to affect anything of consequence in my life. For instance, if I were to goof off while I'm supposed to be working and replays automatically popped up in my boss' RSS feeds I think I'd deserve what I got. The only times I've ever been judged for gaming are by people who hate games, or people who like to abuse someone because they aren't at the same level of obsessive FPS sperglordness. Thinking of that, I'd actually love something that recorded XBL game demos, along with people's voices so they can replay it years later: "Wow Grampa, you were a dick!"
  17. A Life Well Wasted: Big Ideas

I think their projects were less important than cancer research and they were being pissy over it. Having been involved with several sectors that rely on funding grants though, I can fully believe that decisions made aren't particularly rational though (or at least, have bureaucratic rationality) and some buttons are much easier to push for funding bodies than others.
  18. Post your face!

They do evoke bars though Rodi, especially when set against the block wall to the right Here is my face, but cunningly concealed by mentoes and coke:
  19. Recently completed video games

One of 5, which are 5 of 7. All of the wish granter endings depend on your aggregate actions in the game, but if you hunt around the plant a bit more you might find the other two.
  20. A Life Well Wasted: Big Ideas

I know researchers who hate cancer research. They say it has a much bigger profile than anything else and thus sucks up funding that could go into other projects that are also important ... but nonetheless a better person than all of us that have never tried to cure cancer?
  21. Summer Steam Sale

Is that the third one? If so, be prepared to get very annoyed at the end. Not because it's hard, but because it's fucking stupid and squanders all its narrative tension on something utterly shit in the last level. However, it's well worth it for playing through the Shalebridge Cradle alone
  22. A Life Well Wasted: Big Ideas

I finally got around to listening to some of these episodes the other day, and they're excellent. Thanks for the pointer Forbin
  23. Futurama returns in 2008

A plugin that modifies CSS and avatars on any posts in a thread that sit prior to a three month gap or more, making them sepia The only confusion I've had with thread resurrection is forgetting to look at the date on people's posts. Doesn't happen anymore now I rely on "New posts" > "Go to first unread post" though. Oh god. Er. Yeah. Cough. Futurama.
  24. Summer Steam Sale

I was going to stay well away from this, but hot damn, that XCOM complete pack Yeah, I was astounded at ow you can instantly feel how much they tuned it.

It sounds like something obscene involving some hosepipe and a funnel.
