  1. Universal Harvester

Just got the book and it's my next book to read. I loved his previous two books but I'm glad that you have said it's not a horror novel so I know that going into it instead of finding out halfway through and being disappointed.
  2. The Next President

True but that seems kind of hard when they're so hated that they inspire the world's biggest protest. I think we'll be ok if we just keep vigilant by protesting, supporting local democratic clubs, and constantly calling local reps into voting against Trump.
  3. The Next President

For what it's worth, he's already at a 35% approval rating and now is when it's supposed to be the highest. There will always be some sort of floor that the approval rating cannot drop below, because of evangelicals and other crazy people, but this isn't a good sign for him.
  4. The Next President

Man, the last week has been insanely exhausting. Friday was super depressing, the Women's March was the most uplifting thing I've seen in a long time, and now I'm back to depressed after today. I've been slowly getting more involved with local politics by calling representatives, doing the Women's March and future protests, and helping my local Democratic club but holy shit, I really hope the next 4 years don't continue to be this intense.
  5. Looking for war games for OSX

This might be better in the Three Moves Ahead sub-forum since there's war gamers there but I've heard Ultimate General: Gettysburg is really good from listening to the Three Moves Ahead podcast. I also enjoyed Unity of Command since it's not a genre I'm familiar with and it was because accessible but was still an interesting game.
  6. Life

I've felt that way about every new job I started. You'll be ok. It will just take a couple of weeks to get used to it.
  7. The Idle Book Club 20: I Love Dick

The show doesn't really seem like it has all that much to do with the book other than it having the same people (characters?) in it. It was ok I guess? One episode didn't really give me enough to make any sort of judgement on it but it apparently got approved for a full season so I guess I'll see where they go with it.
  8. Tyranny, RPG by Obsidian

I've been pretty excited for this since it's been announced. A shorter rpg sounds cool, especially if it allows for more range in choices and for those choices to matter more.
  9. The Next President

I won't until it's done but I definitely feel better than I did two weeks ago when they were basically tied in polls. It's sad that this is what it took for people to start abandoning ship and I think 40% of the country is still going to vote for Trump because "anyone but Hillary" but at least it seems a lot less likely now.
  10. The Next President

So uh.....this election suddenly got really weird in the last day. I guess Trump probably won't step down because it's more profitable to promote himself and spend campaign funds on traveling on his plane and using his hotels?
  11. The Next President

Yeah, I don't think Trump is going to win but I'm not very excited about having to go through this every 4 years for the rest of my life. Especially since each presidential election is now apparently a year to two years long apparently. In some ways I think the 2020 election will be worse because it will probably be someone equally awful running but more competent, like Ted Cruz or Mike Pence. I don't think it's possible for a moderate to win the Republican nomination anymore.
  12. Victor Vran: Witcherin' Diablo, Geralt style

This has been sitting in my wishlist for a little bit now and from watching the videos I had a question, is it mouse driven like Diablo (PC version) is or does it play more like a twin stick shooter or the console version of Diablo 3?
  13. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

So I think in the Sprawl game someone mentioned that they've played Numenara before but I forgot who. What did you think of it?
  14. The Next President

Hillary's slide is more ridiculous https://twitter.com/DanaSchwartzzz/status/780442277890166784 So I guess tomorrow we'll see the media equate Trump's awful garbage with Hillary not smiling enough or whatever.
  15. The Next President

Hah, I was just wondering if I should post that in the Gaming forum or if it belonged here. It'll be interesting to see if devs drop support of the Oculus and move to the Vive since a lot of those alt-right people are the same ones that harass devs on Twitter.
  16. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

Other than Dungeon World, what do people recommend?
  17. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

That would work for me. I think pretty much any time on Saturday or Sunday would work.
  18. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

How easy it is to jump from The Sprawl to Dungeon World once you know the rules? They use the same rulesystem right?
  19. Warcraft Adventures (old old stuff)

I downloaded it but haven't played it yet. PC Gamer said apparently it's not actually that great but still worth playing just because it's so bizarre seeing what the game is like vs what direction they ended up taking the Warcraft franchise. So they might have actually been right to cancel it but I'll still play it because how often is a new 90s adventure game discovered?
  20. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

I think I would prefer just voice but Roll20 is great and I'm glad we're using that.
  21. The Next President

So instead of covering Trump's VP pick refusing to distance himself from a KKK member or how he abused his charity, I guess it's more important to talk about conspiracy theories about Hillary's health. I'm so tired of this election and we have another month and a half of this. Can't wait for it to be done unless news coverage stays like this and Trump ends up winning. Ugh.
  22. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

    Works for me too!
  23. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

I think most weekends should be fine for me.
  24. Recently completed video games

It took me about 20 years but I finally beat Baldur's Gate. It's still a pretty decent game too. Not as great as everyone thinks it is, like the later Black Isle games, but still worth playing if you can get around the sorta clunky interface and adaptation of the AD&D ruleset. Actually the biggest failing of the game is that the pacing is so hit or miss. There's long chunks of the game where you're just kind of doing boring sidequests so you won't get demolished later on. Whining aside, the writing is still fun and it provides the multiple solutions for quests that you still see in Bioware games today. I'm glad that the expansion for the game was released this year because that was my whole motivation for playing through it. I've started it and it seems pretty solid so far. It's a little weird that an expansion was made using the lessons people have learned from the 20 years of game development that have happened since then but they've done some pretty cool things with the game already and the new story doesn't seem like anything that would offend people that are huge fans of the series since it takes place between BG1 and 2.
  25. Books, books, books...

It does! I just did the same a couple of months ago. My local library is really cool, has a big selection of books, and has small almost office-like self-study areas that are great for when I want to get out of the house to do work on my laptop but don't want to sit in a coffee shop.
