Did anyone else make one of these roll-your-own S&M comics? While waiting for Steve Purcell's next installment.., Here's mine

Stories in games. A necessity, possibility or just an annoyance?
baconian replied to Almos's topic in Video Gaming
short answer, no. -
OK, some reasoned opinions at last. I think I might just get Twilight Princess for the gamecube. And red steel looks silly. You turn around by pointing your arm in the direction you want to walk. What yakuza would be seen dead like that. Not cool. The problem for me is - too much effort. If I wanted to excersise, I'd join a gym. I'm a gamer, for fuck's sake. I like my inert power over these faraway worlds.

yeah, the games press are the ones who raved about psychonauts and BG&E and such. How much of an indicator of success can they be?
-
that's where you're wrong. You are glad that it has nothing to do with M&M. Thief legacy coming through which I am very happy about. Less roll the dice, more rolling heads.
-
I'll just get both. I usually finish a new zelda game and then start it again straight away anyhow...
-
well, yeah, I suppose. Maybe it's just the atmosphere of those parts, and maybe it's intentional. I get a similar feeling watching 2001.

I still really want to play it, but am I the only one who thinks that the space bits look vaguely empty and pointless? The line 'nothing on top but a bucket and a mop and an illustrated book about birds' comes to mind.

somehow I can tell you're being sarcastic. Is this one ok, your majesty? for ontopicness: Robotinik is much better.

nobody's mentioned it, but I'd like to know how Dark Messiah is shaping up

Did you finish extremeG on the n64? fastest game ever made. The fisheye thing made me want to blow my brains out. You change into a lemur at that sort of velocity, the game flits by and your thumbs grow their own little nerve clusters that play the game for you 'cause all you're doing is going whoooa. Thats what I want from this sonic game.

no. should I?

this looks sweet. what is it with rabbits, anyway? answer: they represent a basic lustfulness and subconsciously make people buy products that feature them. There is an unconditional trust that they represent as people cannot think of a rabbit being anything other than cute and timid and nice.

The same excuciating agony is currently tearing my frontal lobe apart. I think I have to get two.

Or you could use this: http://www.pressthebuttons.com/2006/04/revolutions_oth.html

I'm sure everyone is aware of this, but two thrones does indeed look vaguely playable.

it was the shock of HL1's AI that sticks in your head, it was the first time a game came close to convincing me it was smarter than me. HL2's AI is miles ahead though, for all the reasons Mr. Monkey elucidates above. Artificial stupidity is where the real action is, though.

exactamundo. I personally guarantee FPSs will work perfectly like this. And I didn't mean to suggest anything about your courage in the face of new electronic equipment, miffy. I just wanted to stress that different, in this case, is good, and to me it's self-evident that the rev will have the most natural and user friendly FPS controls in the history of the universe.

use the stick for strafing. What's wrong with not pointing the controller at the screen? You don't point your mouse at the screen. OOooo different how scary. I'm scared.

This looks like it will be the best FP console game yet. I like basically everything I've seen in this thread about it, particularly the respect stuff and the revo interface usage. not a difficult one for me either.

Lost. and what you said. and The Day Today. Look around You was great too. Write that down in your copybook.

they had fucking sweet chocolate brownies at the GDC the time I was there too. You could carry them around and bring them into the presentations. Tim Schafer met me in a corridor when I had two in my hand, and I will always regret not handing him one. In my darkest moments, I still see his contemptuous look as he noticed me and did not receive the brownie he deserved, as I stood like a slack jawed yokel in my brownie-fueled stupor of fanboy amazement.
