  1. City of heroes EU beta accounts *Giveaway*

Professor Oblivio - the villain of our story, is a mild-mannered lecturer of philosophy - Claude Surmin - by day, but secretly plots to draw a veil of obscurity and confusion over humanity by planting contradictory subliminal messages in tv ads, newspapers, and whatever else he can think of. his power is the ability to confuse - think jedi mind trick. His arch nemesis - Observator (pronounce with the emphasis on TOR, as in torque) - was a student of Prof. Oblivio, named Dent Withnail, who dropped out after his first year of college to pursue an interest in freelance astronomy. His father, Luke Withnail, is an optician in the small town of Talaham, and an old (estranged) friend of Surmin. Dent develops his astute nature - a remarkable ability to know if someone is lying - when he encounters Prof. Oblivio's 'Confucaster' machine in the hills near the observatory he frequents. The machine is powered by art. Throw books, paintings, sculpture, into it and it grows more powerful. Dent breaks into the place, knowing something is terribly wrong, and when confronted by Surmin, he slips into some poolofgunk/generator/thing that controls the flow of truth into confusion in the machine, which unlocks his power to know about things before they happen or far away. Thus is borne Observator, seer of doom. He obviously has glasses in both incarnations, but i don't have other ideas on how he looks at the moment. 2. Psychonauts on pre-order!

hmm. thinking of importink US xpox. o' oh.
  3. science is shit

www.centroditerapiastrategica.org/journal%20english%201/Articoli_Inglese/broecker.pdf in messing around with my own games development stuff, i came up with this word 'systemicist' that i thought must have been used before. of course it has. science is about separation of stuff, systemicism is about how stuff works together. seeing games as interactive systems seem to me to be at odds with the linear, scripted story model of adventure games, but ive been wondering (for about 3 years now) how you could go about telling a story by setting up a set of rules for a system. it's like the difference between, say, katamari damacy and super monkey ball, i guess. anyhow, dragons existed.
  4. Smoking

well i was joking really, but smoking actually helps prevent arthritis, so if you survive the lung cancer, you're less likely to break a leg from tripping over a curb.
  5. Smoking

a roll-your own. handmade cigarette. you get gummed papers and tobacco and make a cigarette. pronounced: row-lee
  6. Stupid game ideas (Your own)

i had a similar idea, except with speeded-up continental drift. and realistic physics. and so on. what's the villain like?
  7. Smoking

yeah, i hated smoking and was never into it but then when i was around 16 i tried a rolly. i've never looked back. they're a fair bit cheaper and reputedly don't have as many chemicals and stuff, in fact, they're good for you if you do it properly. fact.
  8. Resident Evil 4

    pssh. :ponycrap:
  9. Resident Evil 4

hmm in the tradition of idle thumbs i'll decline to give you any actual information, you can go to gamespot for that. however, one thing i really welcome is the disappearance of typewriter ribbons, even though they made the originals really nervy as it was a bit more like trapezing without a safety net. do buy it, though! im just worrying about the 2nd disc. with freeloader, you put in the disc, then the game disc, and this allows your cube to read jap or us games with no hassle. but when i put in the 2nd disc halfway through the game, is it gonna blow up on me? that's what's really nail-biting about the game.
  10. cartoon elephant jazz

think hard. do you remember a cartoon you saw on TV when you were a kid with an elephant who turned his trunk into a sax, or a trumpet, or a double bass, or whatever, to play along with some great jazz soundtracks? it was set in a squiggly stylistic city and looked a bit like the original pink panther cartoons. i just want to know the elephant's name, the name of the cartoon, where i can see it again, anything. google isnt helping. nobody ive said it to knows what i'm talking about, except my dad who has a vague recollection. it was quality. thumbs is my last resort before this turns into a quest.
  11. cartoon elephant jazz

purely for my own sense of completism, it was 'hamilton the musical elephant' by these guys: http://www.halasandbatchelor.com/ edit: they did the excellent version of animal farm too. excellent. ill add that to my order.
  12. Resident Evil 4

just got my import version and it's thick and chunky so far. They've translated the atmosphere extremely well, and the camera contributes a lot to this. might say more later. edit: the thumb finger says dfan has been updated. whuh?
  13. this is really hard to do. HL2 says a lot about interactive storytelling, explicitly and implicitly, and I'm left there gaping at the thing, and still wondering at it weeks after finishing it. gonna have to play it again soon.
  14. Hairy Faces

man, he signed my copy of Matilda and his fingers were amazing, bony and long and i don't remember his face cause i was staring at his hands. pity the movies didnt do him any favours.
  15. Cartoon Network VS Nickelodeon

hmm well i don't get adult swim where i am, but i'll take your word for it.
  16. Cartoon Network VS Nickelodeon

Genndy Tartakovsky came up through cartoon network and, with some of the other guys there, reinvigorated cartoons with his work on dexter, samurai jack, powerpuffs, and then the clone wars for lucas. as always happens, the company has since become bloated, old, grey, and bereft of any creativity.
  17. What's with the bad weather?

and then there's the one where petroleum emmisions in fact help the rainforests, and the big chunk of them that disappeared has been rejuvenated in the last 20 years or so, because they feed on our waste.
  18. The Sims and Girls

i usually read all the new posts before I post myself, but I just gotta say something here. the girls and games discussion and the sexist (ha!)discussion that it always spawns are both essentially the same thing. The one point that I would make is that (a) Yufster is an individual who likes games and is really cool. ( girls are people too. © angst is not exclusively a male thing. (d) violence is fun if it is in fun. (e) (a) to (d) above all say the same thing, and if you don't already understand that, you're a dumbass.
  19. The official How Would You Seduce Yufster? thread!

well I read the Irish have more in common with arabs than they do with other european peoples, in language and stuff. so there.
  20. Pretty scary stuff

"You paid $14.99 for this? You silly girl. Look at it! It's broken!" hahahahahhaaaa ah. excellent. women.
  21. Giveaway 2005: Who dunnit?

    nah. no worries.
  22. Psychonauts box art

yeah i'm glad you brought that up again. all us heathens who don't actually run this site should gang up and get the others to spill the beans about Tim and his brains of steel, boing! pong! hocus pocus avion!!! that nobody knows! egypt! yeah! wisdomatic! red hot juice! sorry there. listening to captain beefheart. anyway, we should keep bringing up Tim's three upcoming uber-games (click the link in the post above) and the issue of what the hell are they about, until the Californians tell all. harhar.
  23. Psychonauts box art

    no they are not doobies!
  24. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - latest screenshots

  25. The Sith Lords

This is why Kyle Katarn was so fun to play as. I haven't played kotor 1or2. Anyone have any comparisions between them and the jedi knight series?
