ALRIGHT STOP BADGERING ME DAMMIT I'LL WRITE SOMETHING
  2. Wii number exchange

Yeah, I tried Edgeworth too, but he just comes out looking like an old man, which makes me too sad to send it to anyone.
  3. Ah ha ha ha! Yes, you'd THINK it would work that way, wouldn't you! But no! It's tied to the hard drive AND THE CONSOLE! So if you swap your hard drive to the new console, welcome to online-only city. I have heard vague details of people complaining to Xbox Tech Support about this, and being credited MS points so that they can literally re-buy their games, but I've also heard about the exciting Xbox Tech Support Tales, such as the Indian Nightmare "I don't care if you bought it a month ago, according to our records, your warranty has expired". Wheeee!
  4. Lego Star Wars 2

Basically, when you're playing through Endor in Return of the Jedi, there's a river that you have to cross (there's a tractor on the other side). If you try and cross this river, the game will freeze. Happens most often on super story mode (and remember, this is about FOUR LEVELS IN!), but I've also seen it happen through regular play (it happened while a friend was playing it at work). If you do happen to make it through that crash, there's another delightful one that happens right as you're escaping from the explosion of the Death Star II. So, the game could crash RIGHT BEFORE you finish the Super Story, which takes a stupid amount of time to complete as is! So yeah Duncan, you're at the same level I was. I had not encountered ANY bugs, and that Super Story was the last thing I had to do. So, when trying to get this last gold brick, it would crash at the river crossing in Endor EVERY TIME. To avoid Maximum Frustration, you might want to try doing the following when playing ROTJ Super Story: - Turn Rumble Off - Set Music to Zero - Set all graphical detail to lowest setting - When you get to the river in Endor, wait for all your characters to arrive, switch to R2-D2, then very slowly cross the river Keep rumble off for the rest of the Super Story, as apparently that's what causes the crash in Death Star II. And keep in mind that this bug affects all console versions (including the PC version!).
  5. Even if this is the case, I don't think I'd bother with the hassle of having to transfer all my stuff over. Again. You know that if you if you redownload Live Arcade games onto a different console after you've downloaded them on your original console, then you'll only be able to play them online? Yep. Found that out when my launch 360 spazzed out whenever I tried to play a movie on it.
  6. How did you find Idle Forums?

I used to read 'Mojo, because they were the only site that I could find that would post interesting LucasArts stuff (hahaha, remember LucasArts? Oh, the times we had!). Never posted there, though. But found a liknk through Mojo, and I found it to be great to read. i wish there were still articles though
  7. Let's all celebrate with new avatars!

See this bandwagon, right? This is me, jumping on it. Also, you're lucky that we can't use animated gifs, or I'd have a picture of Batman train surfing, or Shredder pumping his fist, or Baxter Stockman (pre-fly) laughing like a lunatic, or Pikachu saluting like a Nazi.
  8. Wii number exchange

Expect Miis VERY SOON. Oh your signature reminds me, I should totally try to make a Mackenzie Mii. It probably wouldn't be too hard, I'm sure I've seen those MASSIVE TERRIFYING EYES before.
  9. Annoying gaming news site headlines

Why, a generic GBA game based on a generic cartoon show, of course!
  10. Goddamn I hate games which have the disclaimer on the back of the box which says "Basic reading ability is needed to fully enjoy this game". I mean, honestly. What's up with THAT?
  11. Happy Friday. Oh, and...

Haven't tried US switch, buuuuuut... I think the Japanese one is region locked. Because I remember hearing something about having to purchase Japanese Wii Points to get Japanese games. If you try to use a points card from elsewhere, you'll get "This code is from the wrong region" or something. Booooo. Oh wait, I don't think there even IS an option for US on my PAL console, let me just check... nope, there's no option to switch the country of origin to Japan or US. But that was to be expected, really.
  12. Annoying gaming news site headlines

ARGH If I ever make a successful game, it will be called "Fuck Off", so that journalists can make hilarious straplines like: "Fuck Off Fucks Off" and "It's Out? Fuck Off" You see, it will be brilliant. Maybe. Also Thank Christ. I had a brief panic attack when I thought that I was a total hypocrite.
  13. Happy Friday. Oh, and...

Yes. I live in Australia (WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED) and we don't get TurboGrafx games listed. So, switch the region on my console to United Kingdom and I can buy Bomberman '93 and Bonk to my heart's content. And if I switch the region back to Australia, it all still works fine and displays the games as channels.
  14. Will 2007 be a good year?

Shenmue is stellar, you get to feed kittens and ask people the way to Ajiichi. And Wan Sai. And if you stand under a tree you get a cutscene. And you can spend all your allowance on vending machines that dispense Sega toys. And there's a confused Jamacian looking man who speaks in an amalgamation of seven different dialects. Best game of 2007. Also I hear there's some box pushing later, it sounds fun, there was box pushing in Twilight Princess, how can it be bad? It's like Boxxle, but in 3D!
  15. What kind of game is Kingdom Hearts?

I stopped at Alice in Wonderland, because I couldn't get past the bit where someone got trapped in a cage and hitting was involved. Also, we need a shrug emoticon, seeing as we don't have one right now, I must improvise
  16. Typography in games

I can link you to the mobygames page for it if you really want me to, but I thought it wouldn't actually matter considering that I took that damn screenshot anway Ah, didn't know it blocked images if you linked them off-site - it was coming up fine on my machine. Linked instead.
  17. Typography in games

I like the font used in the GBA version of Rayman Rabbids. It is something relatively unique, and they made all the capital "Y"s look like Rabbid heads, similar to the logo. Cute. Can't find an instance of the capital Y right now, but here's the normal font: http://www.mobygames.com/game/gameboy-advance/rayman-raving-rabbids_/screenshots/gameShotId,197760/ Dunno if they use the same font in other versions of the game though.
  18. Lego Star Wars 2

Yes. The DS version made me sad. I really wish that Lucasarts hadn't pushed all the versions out to coincide with their DVD release. Christ. If a game ISN'T FINISHED, DON'T PUBLISH IT YET. Not apparently genius. I did play all the way through the 360 version though - got all the achievements and everything. Loved every bit of it. Well, except for the wonderful bug that freezes the game in Return of the Jedi, with Lucasarts not even acknowledging the bug's existence. And it occurs across EVERY CONSOLE VERSION (even the PC release!). Turn off that rumble! Turn off the music! Lower the visual quality in the settings! Walk past the river as R2-D2 reeeealllly sloooowly!
  19. Will 2007 be a good year?

Absolutely, there are going to be TWO DIFFERENT GAMES based on Biker Mice From Mars coming out. By the end of this month. What more do you want?
  20. Guitar Hero II (are the song selections localized?)

My band is the "Ozzy Hellcats". I probably could have done better, but I didn't. "Polka Deathgiants", maybe? At work, one of the bands is called "Full Metal Vertigoat".
  21. Wii number exchange

Noyb, I can't send you anything because you haven't listed your number in here. If you haven't received any crazy fictional Miis yet, it's probably because you didn't add me to your list. (...or I forgot?)
  22. Twilight Princess: ATRROLAH*

*A Tumultuous Rollercoaster Ride of Love and Hate Obviously this will be having spoilers, so dodge this if you haven't played yet What is up with Twilight Princess? I keep playing and playing, watching hours of my life disappear, because I'll have to play this game (let's face it, I'll be ostrocized by the community if I don't). And it really is a ride of love and hate. Really. Let's start from the start. Love! Oh look, the art style is really nice and I love the water really much! Hate! Oh hey, I seem to be completely inept because I can't catch a fish five minutes into the game to progress, and it's just like an adventure game because I know what I need to do but I can't. Yay! Love! Midna has the conflicting triangle of cute/cool/creepy! Hate! Her context-sensitive hints...aren't! She helps you about as much as ...a big...unhelpful...thing. I'm no good at similies. But really, every time I was stuck, I asked Midna for help, and what would I get? "WHERE'S THAT FUSED SHADOW, BITCH. HURRY UP AND GET IT!" Thanks Midna, you're the best. Next paragraph! Love! The world is really big, somewhat crazy big, even! Hate! The pointless, obvious busywork and backtracking which seems to have been added just so that Nintendo can bullet point "SEVENTY HOURS OF GAMEPLAY!" See, this is what happens when you let fans dictate where the game should go. Making a sequel instead of a new game sucks. Love! Using the Wii Remote for precision aiming! Hate! Using the Wii Remote for anything else! Replace button with swinging controller around like a lunatic? It's THE FUTURE OF GAMING GUYS. Next paragraph! Love! Being able to use Midna to teleport when you're the wolf! Hate! Not being able to do it when you're Link! (Although I expect this will change when the inevitable betrayal by Midna occurs, the world gets blanketed in twilight again, and you'll probably be able to switch between forms at will. Just guessing here though.) Love! The freaky twilight world with the eerie synth noises when enemies are around! Hate! Having to protect a wagon when Epona controls like a GIGANTIC BATHTUB OF SOME KIND! Love! That utterly surreal story bit which you see just after you rescue the third fairy spirit thing! With a billion cackling Ilias falling out of the sky and Link with no eyeballs and ending with him having a terrifying grin on his face! Hate! The fact that I've run out of Water Bombs at the entrance to the Temple which means I'm gonna have to traipse back to Kakariko AGAIN because there's no teleport feature! Feel free to ignore all this and talk about something else that's good in Zelda, I don't mind if you hijack this and make the topic better. It's just that I've been playing this for about eighteen hours now and every time (as you can see above!) it's HATE! LOVE! HATE! LOVE! HATE! LOVE! Zelda wasn't always like this, was it? Bah, who cares, I need to keep playing and finish it. Eventually.
  23. Wii number exchange

just quietly, I think I may have made the best Sasha Nein Mii ever. THE BEST SASHA NEIN MII EVER.
  24. Twilight Princess: ATRROLAH*

Yeah, I had no idea where the plot was going to go - I was just taking a guess. Got a bit further today, and I'm glad to see that I was completely wrong.
  25. Navarro lashes out

Yeah, I was outraged! (well, as much as you can be with an online internet award show). I checked through all the categories, but ended up just scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking on the "And the winner is" thing. Saved me the trouble of watching the Gamespot people justify their poor choices. I mean, really. CONSOLE SHORTAGES won over PATCHING? And MICROPAYMENTS? And QUICK AND DIRTY PSP PORTS? WHEN DID THIS APPEAR?
