  1. Loco Roco Demo

Love this demo, I can't wait for the full thing. Got perfect last night! You might be missing these two: Hope this helps you!
  2. Real Life Doom

NOW it looks like Doom 3! *rimshot*
  3. Bone Part Dos

I love that the game opens with the line "Don't get me wrong, I liked the last one, but it was way too short!" I played through the whole game and enjoyed it very much. It's certainly longer than the previous one, and I couldn't help but think back to Day of the Tentacle. I'm looking forward to the next one!
  4. Great Gaming Quotes

When using the LeChuckie doll: "My name's LeChuckie! I want to be your friend! I'LL KEELHAUL YOUR MOTHER!" From Psychonauts: "You have the insanity...of a manatee!" "I know. My friends tell me that all the time." Fawful threatening Mario and Luigi: "Your lives that I spit on are now but a caricature of a cartoon drawn by a kid who is stupid!" When you refuse to dance with the faries in Hero's Quest and they make you dance to death: "Man, those faries play ROUGH!" When using Max on the psychic: "Can you bend this?" "He looks pretty twisted already." A favourite from Banjo-Kazooie: "Corrr, a giant ice key!" "I know where I'd like to stick that!" Oh, and any rhyming threats by Gruntilda as you're wandering around the lair. They're priceless.
  5. French-speaking Idle Forumers!

I'm reading a lot more Poirot now - does that count? Seriously though, I know some French from when I studied it in Secondary School, so I can occassionally pick up some basic French. It comes in handy when we do localisation testing, too. Not a lot, though - I don't know anything like "For God's sake, where is the toilet?".
  6. Headsmiley contest, post 'em here

If I wasn't so lazy (and was also at home), I would make one of the Yellow Shirt Guy from Anticipation.
  7. Revolution at GDC thread

I've seen localised Mr. Driller DS going around here for the "two for $40" deal. So, it's essentially AU$20. Other games I've seen included in the deal are Retro Atari Classics (ick), Sprung (er, ick?) and Polarium (yay). This was the same store where I found heaps of copies of Jungle Beat with bongos for $40. At that price, even I couldn't resist. I also went back later that week and cleared out the stock for some guys at work. So, um, if you would like Mr. Driller DS, and another game, or if you want two copies, or something, I'm sure I could get it for you. It's the Euro/Australian version which has single cart multiplayer and Dristone mode in English. Just email me, or something.
  8. Phoenix Wright re-stocked!

Phoenix Wright is an awesome, awesome game, I cannot stress this enough. Hopefully now that it's got a chance to sell more copies, it will sell really well and encourage Capcom to localise Gyakuten Saiban 2 and 3. And the upcoming DS 4 version too, but I'm less interested in that because it doesn't have Phoenix and co. (or so I hear). But still! More courtroom solving action! I got my mum addicted as well. She was thoroughly engrossed with them. She also commented that it was like reading a detective novel, but not being able to skip to the end to find out who did it. I bought her an Edgeworth figurine to look sternly at her on the desk, she loves it. We're going through the fan translation of the first case of Gyakuten Saiban 3 at the moment. Whoever has been translating has done a fantastic job. Also, a Revolution version of the game would be great, as you could hold the remote in your hand, and point it straight at the TV as you shriek out "OBJECTION!". It's gaming of the future, I tell you.
  9. Favorite Zelda

Link's Awakening all the way. It was the game that first got me into Zelda, and always seemed to be the best. After that, I'd definitely say Majora's Mask. What an awesome game. Particularly the whole wedding mask business. It's funny, I seem to like the Zelda games that, you know, don't actually have Zelda in them. Wind Waker was alright, except for the whole MS Paint bucket ocean business and the fact that you could leave the damn boat pointing in one direction, then would have to wait for ten minutes of monotony while you waited for the boat to arrive at its destination. Who's bright idea was it to remove dungeons at the cost of MORE OCEAN, that's what I'd like to know. I'm done now.
  10. Games you ignore (licenses, kid's games).

I was pleasantly surprised and delighted when I found out that Scooby-Doo: Night of 100 Frights! had Tim Curry as the villain. I really need to pick up a copy of Lemony Snicket before it disappears off the face of the planet, because that has Tim Curry as well. Oh, and the latest Scooby-Doo console game has ADAM WEST. Kim Possible 3 for GBA is pretty damn cool, and Lizzie McGuire 2 is not bad, but very short (an hour to finish the game). that's SO Raven 1 AND 2 are phenomenally awful. I haven't played Kim Possible 2 for GBA, but I hear it's awesome.
  11. Have you tried DOFUS ???

I played a PC game called "Doofus". It was a platformer where you had a dog tagging along with you all the time, and he couldn't get hurt at all or you would die, with the message "BE KIND TO YOUR DOG". WHAT A GREAT GAME MECHANIC! Except not really. I thought I was the only person who knew about that game. Oh wait, after rereading the topic, I see that it still looks that way.
  12. Crying game 2.

I know I'm going to regret admitting this, but the end of Mega Man Battle Network 3 made me cry. *blush* I knew that everything was going to be okay in the end (the game is called MEGA MAN Battle Network, after all), but I still got a bit upset. Other games have made me cry too, but I can't remember them at the moment. Although, I do remember that playing Metroid II at 3:40am evoked feelings of pure, primal terror. Forget your survival horror games, THAT game genuinely scared the shit out of me.
  13. What's this? A company that understands that there are a billion games released simultaneously during christmas, and that releasing one more at this time will ensure that the game gets completely slaughtered? Brace yourself, everyone - this is the first time I've used the following: A monumentus occasion indeed.
  14. A generation of irrelevance

As I said to a friend of mine, I can't wait when video games leave their "photorealism" stage and enter the "abstract" stage that art did.
  15. How did you lose your gaming virginity ?

The first game I remember playing was a CGA game for our Amstrad (with HARD DRIVE!) called "Donkey". You had to drive along an endless road, and not hit the donkeys that appeared on either side of the road. You couldn't quit the game once you'd loaded it, either - you had to turn off the computer.
  16. DS release list

If you're going to get it, try to get the Euro/Australian version. It's got single cart multiplayer and the addition of Dristone mode, which the US version didn't get because it was rushed.
  17. An article for your perusal

Great read, Chris. I also like the idea that was suggested, about having shelf space dedicated to "staff favourites" that wouldn't get noticed much otherwise. I really feel myself shudder whenever I go to EB - it's just so...white. And the staffers are so fake! I picked up Scaler, SCALER (low budget kids game), and it was the last copy on the shelf. The guy bullshitted to me and said "Oh yeah, that one's been really popular!" No it hasn't. This same EB was piping out horrid XTREEM advertising constantly throughout the speakers every five minutes, and it just brought memories of Invader Zim with their shop store parodies of hearing "BUY STUFF - YOU WANT TO BUY THINGS, OKAY?". As a result, I always go to the comfortably dingy and cramped Game Rush. Sure, it's also been taken over by an American franchise, but it still feels like a game shop. And they have Saturn games in glass cases! SATURN GAMES! By the way, is that the US box art for BG&E? Looks like PAL lucked out again.
  18. DS release list

Whoa hey! I'm involved in one of those game on the list! It's not any of the ones you're interested in, though. Still, it's coming along nicely.
  19. Damn, I love this game. The music, the graphics, the gameplay, the fact that you get to play as Donald Duck with a Plunger Gun and you could eat chillies to trigger his temper where he'd go completely nuts and do his patented Donald temper tantrum at anything in his path. Utter bliss. For the uninitiated, it was a pseudo-sequel to "Castle of Illusion" (also an awesome game) - both of these came out on the Mega Drive. World of Illusion was the third game in the series, and starred both characters. You played as Donald, flying around the world on the hunt for treasure with Hewey, Dewey and Louie flying the plane (wait what?!). Pete and his army of Pete Clones also get wind of Donald's treasure-hunting antics and decide to follow him to nab the treasure for themselves. Donald was armed with the aforementioned Plunger Gun, which could be used to stun enemies, initially. Later on it could also be upgraded to be used as a springboard when you shot it at walls, and even later, you could shoot it at enemies and grab onto the plunger to fly over holes and such. Donald also had a Popcorn Gun at his disposal, and later earned an Exploding Bubble Gum Gun from Gyro Gearloose. The game didn't have set levels to progress through - instead, there were a few areas you could access via plane, and as you explored them, you earned items (such as an Aztec Key that would allow you into a temple) that would let you progress further inside these levels. Later on you'd discover another map that would expand the places you could travel to, as well. There was also a smattering of bosses - not too many, I don't think - as you proceeded through the levels. It begged for battery or password save, but it wasn't too difficult to get back to where you were anyway. Definitely a great game - this was pure platforming bliss. Not too hard, not too long, but thoroughly enjoyable all the way. Play it if you get the chance. As mentioned above, the music is awesome too - particularly the Duckburg and Transylvania music. Oh yes, and something creepy that was pointed out to me - why is it that the item that fully restores Donald's health is a ROAST CHICKEN?
  20. Goddammit, I'm going to talk about Quackshot

Nonono, that was Aladdin for the Mega Drive. The Shiny-made one. Awesome game. Castle of Illusion was a joy to play, because it was completable by ANYONE. There were easy, normal, and hard difficulty levels, and you'd get a different ending depending on which one you played, not to mention more levels if you went for the harder ones. When I was younger, I loved that even though it was really hard, I could still see the "end" of the game if I played the easy mode. I remember the SNES version of Mickey Mania, which was fabulous, too. All the levels were based on famous cartoons in Mickey's career, from Steamboat Willie (in black and white) to The Prince and the Pauper. I remember that Moose Hunt level being incredibly difficult, but a helluva lot of fun. Ducktales and Ducktales 2 were brilliant games, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of them. I've still got Ducktales 2 for Game Boy at home. I also liked that they made a Darkwing Duck game, and at the start of every level, he would do his dramatic pose and shout out "I AM DARKWING DUCK", like the drama queen he is in the show.
  21. Goddammit, I'm going to talk about Quackshot

YES. Music is awesome, and the game is pretty damn cool too. It's no Quackshot, mind, but it's still pretty cool. And Lucky Dime Caper! I'd totally forgotten about that game, I've always meant to play it. I'm going to search...for a totally legitimate copy....right now!
  22. Coolest 80ies TV series moment?

We had a Manimal annual at home that I used to read all the time. I never got to see the show though. I heard it got cancelled after one season. It sounded pretty crazy, though. So in response to your poll question, I choose the Autobots, because transforming robot aliens are the closest to a guy who could turn into any animal in the history of forever and had super hearing and super speed and super everything and could also control animals and stuff. Practically identical, the two shows are.
  23. Random Psychonauts Tidbits (possible spoilers)

Hey, my Psychonauts box art! I'd totally forgotten that I did that. And Moos, you forgot the Memory Vaults!
  24. Who loves Katamari? We do.

Here's my Katamonstrosity: http://www.n-chicken.net/discoinferno/welovekatamari.jpg It really is quite sad how easy it is to copy the house moderately accurately. On an artistic note, I like how I copied and pasted the same flower four times to give it an exciting, exastential vibe.
  25. Who loves Katamari? We do.

    Hahaha, oh you.
