  1. Bargain bin bounty

Yeah, I've got Vib-Ribbon too. Rock on, Vibri. Using the DKC Map Theme made a bloody good level! Mojib Ribbon is fun too if you can get past the insane language barrier, but Vib Ripple is a bit crap.
  2. Hold it! GBA Phonenix?!

Heads up - if it's Play Asia, you'll need to make the order over $50, otherwise the coupon won't work. Quite a bit of swearing before I figured that one out. I love Play Asia, they give me free crazy Japanese candy whenever I buy a new Game Boy system.
  3. Hold it! GBA Phonenix?!

Yeah, I originally ordered the fancy-pants Japanese version of Phoenix Wright for the same reason. I even taught my mum how to select "English" from the Japanese selection so she knew how to do it herself. Now that she's played through the whole of the first one, I'll have to fight her for the sequel! We thought we were going to have to wait until early next year, but when we found out it was getting a full English translation again in the Jap release, we were thrilled! (Mum really likes Edgeworth. But who doesn't?)
  4. ...but they can DANCE!

Miffy, there's also two special ones (one for the and one for fireworks in and flavours) - bless you, YouTube. Dunno if you've seen those. (I don't remember seeing the eggs one!)And Rodi, I think you're right - the company love seems to be the main reason that I'm getting so excited about this game. "Hey look, WE love this game! Surely you will too!" Actually, now that I think about it, I remember them doing Rayman 3 teasers too, including one with a Harry Potter parody. You can unlock them in the game. It was something about "Rayman: Know Your Target" if I remember rightly, with various Hoodlums getting ready to attack Rayman.

I also am surprised at Astro Boy's lack of availability - I picked it up last year when it was discounted to AUD$20 (this is cheap for Australia, remember that an Australian dollar couldn't buy the ink from a US dollar note). I played it allll the way on the plane trip to last year's E3. Needless to say, it was better than most of the games on display.
  6. DS modding

You can definitely run DS roms on a flashcard - not sure of the specifics of it though. I only know that you can because I've read of people downloading the Game & Watch Collection rom so that they can actually play the damn game. Shhhh
  7. Minish Cap?.... :)

No, it's not Picross. Picross is different. Picross has you chipping away and marking squares. This game has you rotating the entire picture and firing bricks at other bricks to make the picture. Guru Logic Champ Mario's Picross Picross is awesome too, but game play is totally different from Guru Logic Champ.
  8. Minish Cap?.... :)

Honestly, I really don't know how anyone can hate Tingle. The fact that his mere existence drives hardcore Zelda fans nuts fills me with glee. And that by the time Smash Bros. Melee rolled around, he'd already been in more games than Kid Icarus. Haw haw. Hope the game gets a local release, mental title intact - I love to spend money, and Tingle could certainly help me do that, by the look of the game. The game's website is pretty nifty, too. And Tingle has a Tingle-puppy, also dressed up in Tingle tights. Oh, just remembered two more great GBA games, but these are a bit harder to obtain as they're Jap, and fairly old: - Guru Logic Champ (Excellent puzzle game where you manipulate blocks using a cannon manned by two ducks to make pictures) - Kururin Paradise (The pinnacle of the series - the original was good, but this improves oh so much. Basic premise is to navigate a rotating stick through a maze without hitting the walls. MUCH more fun than it sounds, especially the mini-game where you mow the lawn using a helicopter.)
  9. Minish Cap?.... :)

Booooo. The GB ones are fantastic. Particularly Orcacle of Ages. Time Travel actually being used properly, and one of the coolest villains in a game I've seen for a long while. Agree with you about the NES ones, though. People seem to like them for the same reason they like Kid Icarus and Ice Climbers. Because they're archaic crap, but no-one will admit it. YEAH.
  10. Tim Schafer interview in the Guardian

I'll tell you what you can do - send in Ford Cruller. Although, new original game would be nice too. Maybe a dramatic murder mystery at the blood bank...starring Ford Cruller.
  11. Minish Cap?.... :)

Let me just say that it's good to have a friend in Japan who isn't really interested in the promotional items from Club Nintendo, but will add his game codes to the collaborative account. The real problem with Club Nintendo is that you can't spam your account with multiple copies of the same game. So you can't say, buy seventy copies of Polarium on the cheap and enter them into the same account. You would need to make seventy different accounts, because it only accepts any one code from any game or console once. Luckily, I'm a bit mental and collect stuff like the Famicom GB Micro and the Mother 3 Deluxe Box, which bumps up the points a bit. By the way, if you're interested in those game music CDs from Club Nintendo, gimme a yell on one of those messenger things, I've got them all ripped. Oh, and I wouldn't recommend getting 'Collection from eBay or something unless you're totally nuts about collecting. There's only three games on there and they've all been previously released. There's only the novelty factor to go for, because you can actually use it as a watch and alarm now. But even then, that's flawed because the alarm won't work if you're in sleep mode. NOT APPARENTLY GENIUS. Here's hoping they bring out a proper DS collection. You are my new best friend. Oh, just don't expect Cranky to be...you know, Cranky. They really should rename him to "Helpy" now, because Nintendo just can't get his raving bitter hatred of everything new right. "Sometimes our sprites would change size for no apparent reason!"
  12. Minish Cap?.... :)

Well, I have a bit of a soft spot for Rare DK and friends, so seeing all the references of a billion obscure characters from DKC2 (like that pirhana with the big lips!) was also part of the enjoyment factor for me. BUT, that being said, I personally thought that the game was genius. Every couple of levels, a new mechanic would come into play, whether it would be levers that you have to hold with one hand only, picking up and throwing rocks, fighting against the wind inside a tornado, turning wheels, grabbing onto pegs being fired by cannons while they're arcing across, grabbing slippery ice (which you must do more quickly so you don't slide back down), grabbing the tail of a swimming skeleton fish boss and then hurling him repeatedly into a wall...there always seemed to be something more by using the same simple controls. I think what turned off a lot of people was the fact that the difficulty was a total and complete bitch. It really does go normal -> hard -> ass rape difficulty. It really does. Can't wait for the DS one, though! (Also, it warms my heart that someone actually owns Sabre Wulf besides me. That game rocks. "For the Empire, WOT!") Toblix: Twisted Front Twisted Back Drill Dozer
  13. bit Generations [GBA] Mini-Review - Part 1/2

Because I can't be bothered rewriting how Coloris works, take a look here. I'm having some fun with Coloris - nice and simple to play, but it gets pretty hectic later on, believe it or not. The closest game I could compare it to would be Zooo/Zoo Keeper, because you have to get three or more of the same colour in a row - but even then, it's not quite the same as that. The Score Mode that you unlock adds some nice replay value - you have to play endlessly instead of trying to just clear the round. Overall, I give it about a 3/5.
  14. Minish Cap?.... :)

VERY hard. Minish Cap is a bucket of Marshmallow Fun. It actually includes some NEW tools, rather than only using the Power Glove and the Boomerang for the umpteenth time. Hooray for the Gust Jar! Also, I really like the Wind Waker graphics as 2D sprites. Other GBA games to recommend: - Astro Boy: Omega Factor (but if you suck at uber hard games, like me, play it on easy mode, as you still get to see all of the game this way, it's just the mental difficulty is toned down to a manageable level) - DK: King of Swing (although, you mightn't like this one - the difficulty level ramps up after a couple of levels. Brilliant action puzzle game, though) - Drill Dozer (NO QUESTION. GET THIS GAME.) - Kirby & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (it's got four player simultaneous co-op play, but even if you can't do that, it's still a good game.) - Sabre Wulf (Not recommending this because I like Rare - I'm recommending it because it's an awesome game that nobody played. If you like stealing treasure and running away, this game is for you.) - Wario Ware Twisted (All the fun of Wario Ware, but in twisty mode. A major improvement over the original, and LEAGUES better than Touched.) And that's all I have to say about that.
  15. "Rhythm Paradise"

    God, you're awesome.
  16. "Rhythm Paradise"

Apologies for bumping this, but has ANYONE managed to get a "Perfect" heart? I've only managed to get one for the Baseball Lambada game. I almost had one for the Hairy Onion one, and then I stuffed up at the second last hair. ARGH. (And what do these hearts DO, anyway? Is it just to boast and say "God, I'm awesome."?)
  17. Paul Stanley - Live to Win

Forget that. Let's start our OWN topic in Idle Banter, with gambling, and alcohol, and hookers. I've never seen a viral marketer before! It must be tough to try to sound enthusiastic about stuff when you're actually a sellout whore. You'd probably have better luck on a forum that didn't solely contain bitter, cynical hate-filled swirling maelstroms, though. I suggest instead trying The Happiest Forum On Earthâ„¢.
  18. NDS Homebrew

Someone made a really nice Picross DS game - I can't remember where I saw it, though. Man, Mario's Picross was great - Nintendo really should make another one.
  19. bit Generations [GBA] Mini-Review - Part 1/2

Coloris, Soundvoyager and Dotstream just arrived today (along with Rhythm Tengoku). My god, these bit generations boxes are cute as a button!
  20. Yeah, I think they really nailed the voices in Curse. And yeah, I always expected that when Mario and Luigi talked, they would have their Brooklyn accents from the Mario Bros. Super Show. I've gotten used to Charles Martinet though - I love his Luigi. And of course, his Wario. "Shoulda been called WARIO Golf!"
  21. Pac-man / Galaga Arcade Games

I didn't know that Link was on the 360 now too? How did Nintendo let THAT one slip?
  22. Hold it! GBA Phonenix?!

Yeah, Phoenix Wright was a launch title for the GBA in Japan, as Gyakuten Saiban (roughly Courtroom Turnabout or Comeback Court, depending on who you talk to). There's been three games. The DS one we know and love is the first GBA one, Justice For All is the second GBA one, and there's a third GBA one too. Japan will be getting an all new DS one fairly soon, with a different art style and characters, as well as more new cases.
  23. Why say it when you can let the internet say it for you?
  24. WTF? nintendo monopoly?

Computer BATTLESHIP (written like that on the box) was pretty cool. It had "Instant Programming"! Sure, it was a real bitch to setup and took you a good ten to fifteen minutes to get started, but it was worth it when you saw the little red LED light up and show that you hit the enemy. A runner up is the HILARIOUS "Alien Galaxy", which didn't use a dice, but instead a cassette tape. The tape would every so often shriek out "LASER ATTACK" and "BLACK HOLE, BLACK HOLE, ALL SHIPS NEAR ANY BLACK HOLES WILL BE PULLED INTO THE VORTEX, AAAAAAAAAAAAND DESTROYED". Movement was dictated by the tape, with it saying stuff like "THREEEE...LEFT", and "FOURRRR...RIGHT...IN A ZIG-ZAG DIRRRECTION". Absolute MINUTES of fun.
  25. "Rhythm Paradise"

Hey baby...how's it goin'? This...beat...is non....stop. I'm sold on the first game ALONE.
