Okay, the first game I've ever played for the Spectrum was the emulated version of Jetpac from Donkey Kong 64. And it's saying something when I'm telling you that I enjoyed Jetpac waaay more than the main game. I had a go of Sabre Wulf on an emulator, but all that did was make me want to cry. Spent fifteen minutes on it, died quickly, end message: YOU ARE DEAD YOU COMPLETED 0.0000001% YOU ARE AWFUL PLAYER Moving along...can anyone reccommend any other Spectrum games that are worth playing? I loved Jetpac, it was highly addictive. Any others along that line? (It doesn't have to be Ultimate only, I'm sure other companies made good games for it too.)

This is true. I have done this mod to my 360 controller, and it seems to make it less crap; but I haven't yet had a chance to have a proper go of Lumines since I did it. What I would give to be able to use my GameCube SNES Hori pad thing on the 360, though.

Sony "protecting" it's customers, Lik-Sang out of business
Aussie Ben replied to Kolzig's topic in Video Gaming
Although that sucks, it sounds really spectacular and I wish I had been there to see it. Fuck Sony, etc. etc., I wasn't really planning to get a PS3, but this has certainly sealed the non-deal. Although I will have to get the PSP port of Parappa, seeing as I can't find the original anywhere. (Sorry.) -
All racing games cheat, though. The only racing game I've played where it hasn't felt like it (but it did!) was Diddy Kong Racing. And that was because of all the sneaky tricks you could use to get extra speed, such as letting go of the accelerator when using a turbo until rainbow coloured smoke begins to appear, using power slides for regular turns and tight powerslides for tighter turns, getting all ten bananas (and not losing them!) to slightly increase your maximum speed... Man, that game was all about strategy. Still cheated something chronic, but you really felt accomplishment when you won, especially against that FREAKING OCTOPUS. CHALLENGE ME TO A RACE, WILL YOU?! ...I'm sorry. So, awful games that you played anyway? Bombjack. awful Awful AWFUL.

I also miss the crazy jester that liked to turn people to stone and make squirrels jump into exploding trees. Poor Malcolm, he was only misunderstood.

Apparently, the only thing you can't get in easy mode is a secret reward that a secret boss gives you. Everything else is normal. Maybe you get a different ending or something too. (Like the extra line of text in Yoshi's Story if you got the two secret Yoshis. WHAT AN ENDING.)

... That doesn't sound fun?

A good idea, I've been meaning to make a topic like this myself. Mine's "Aussie Ben" without the quotes. Maybe we could play some Lumines or Kameo or Uno. Or just exploit Texas Hold 'em and use it as a chat room. Here's my novelty card:

Rock on, Phoenix. And Touch Detective out soon? Oh man, awesome. I want to play Contact, too. And I've got this wacko Japanese music game called Pinky Street: Somethingorother Music Hour on order too. But I still need to finish off my existing games! Mario vs. DK 2 is AWESOME - I love that it's more of a puzzle game than the previous one. And you can literally pick it up, play one level, finish it, and then hop on the train or whatever. Very handy. Mega Man ZX is great too, and because it has an Easy Mode, hopeless cases like me can actully finish it. The amount of quality titles coming out this year is just not fair! And I have to slot in Diddy Kong Racing DS somewhere in that period too!

New Zelda hard to come by for GC

(And Australia, but we don't count.) -
I believe that may be why this game exists. blue sky in games for the win

Australian actor Jack Thompson is actually an alright actor. Otherwise, Jack who?

Absolutely. I even went back to play that Mario RPG for SNES game that never got released in Australia. Conclusion? It was a good idea that it never got released in Australia. Oh, I went there. I find it hilarious that people think it has a deep, involving story, which involves some cloud-looking person discovering that he's not actually a frog even though he's lived with frogs his whole life. That's quality storytelling right there. *cough* Enix games, though, that's another matter entirely. Terranigma, Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia are awesome. And I'm loving Rocket Slime. More games like that please.

What Miffy said. Better story, better gameplay, better graphics even though it's in monochrome. And a much better weapon equip system. Link to the Past is fun, and so is Ocarina, but they're basically both the exact same game, only that one is in 3D, and the other is not. I much prefer it when the Zelda games don't stick to the Link to the Past formula, and shake things up a bit. That's probably why I prefer Link's Awakening, Majora, and the Oracles over the ones everyone else likes.

Don't worry Miffy, you can always have a look at mine. Nothing like a lazy update!

Kameo: Elements of Power? More like...Excrements of...oh, forget it.
Aussie Ben posted a topic in Video Gaming
Has anyone else beside me played Kameo and found it moderately enjoyable? It's hardly stellar gameplay from start to finish, but it certainly does have its moments. And it looks a bit pretty. Also, very shiny. Oh, such shining does it have. I can't get those combos happening, though. I've no idea how that wretched system is supposed to work, and I can't really be bothered figuring out how you're supposed to do it. Something about "juggling" and "doom trolls", I think. I don't know, it's all too hard. It's not too bad in co-op, though. -

Not only will the pinatas bleed candy, but other pinatas will try to EAT said candy if you don't pick it up fast enough. Any game that features family-friendly cannibalism has to be at least moderately decent, right? Right? ...goddamn, those sheep look adorable. -
Secret hilarity: Yes Chibi-Robo is awesome. I can't wait for the DS version! You make killer robots dance! I love to make things dance. The last time I did that was in Ape Escape 3. Good times.

Burnout 5 is going to have a free-roaming mode...just like Test Drive Unlimited! It's new and fresh.

CURSE THAT DAMNED BRITISH WIND. It's all Linka's fault, surely.

Mega Man can't die, he's like some kind of zombie that feeds on remakes and sequels, it's a horrible kind of wonderful. Mega Man Powered Up is fun! Dr. Wily has hilarious voice acting!
-
NOT REALLY SECRET HINT Also, try and play this multiplayer if you can find another human being with a copy of this game. It's worth every minute of play. I got to be a monkey that rescued his girlfriend! And drive a racecar! And fight with a giant robot!

Pity it ain't ZX - that's pretty sweet. The one you've probably ordered is Battle Network 5 Twin Leads, which has both of the GBA versions of Battle Network 5 on one cart. Pity, because Battle Network 5 sucks due to these awful "Liberation Missions" which bring the gameplay to a grinding halt. Awful turn-based stuff where you have to pre-plan ages ahead. I play Battle Network to get AWAY from that shit. Argh. Battle Network 6 is pretty cool though. And that new DS relaunch of the Battle Network games (Mega Man Star Force...I think?) looks good too. With an AMAZING THREE VERSIONS. *sigh* But I'll still check out one of them.
