There are plenty of guys who are into The Sims, but they tend to be casual gamers. My wife loves The Sims. Oy, does she ever. I find it boring as all hell. Not because I'm a guy, but because it's open ended (I need to fell like I've accomplished something when I play a game for several hours at a time) and because the actual gameplay doesn't appeal to me.

This is the strangest thread ever.

I consider defeating Montlebaum beating the game, since that's the ultimate goal.

My brother-in-law gave me this for Chanukah. I can't wait to play it. ...but first I have to finish Pirates, which is like digital crack.

No, you SUCK!

I spent a minute or so playing RR also. It's cooooool stuff. The game kinda sucks -- the physics are all wonky (it's ridge racer physics, same as the other games), but it's awful purty. The PSP blows the DS away on every level. There's simply no comparison.

Okay, that photo of Romero's not that creepy anymore: http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2004-12/17/content_2346372.htm

MAME rocks. I did one of those "complete romsets by mail" thingies that are only marginally legal (I paid for the discs, not the roms), and I don't regret it in the slightest. Here's the thing: I still buy compilations like Midway Arcade Treasures when they come out, so I'm not doing this as a way of getting the games without ever paying for them. But there are lots of games that will never get that kind of release, and MAME is the best way to play 'em. Heck, MAME does a lot of games better than their official releases. MAT2 has Mortal Kombat 3, but it's the initial release version. With MAME, you can play any release, including Ultimate MK3. Considering that each version was better than the last, you can see how this is a good thing indeed. -
Rockstar loves us? Aparently so: GTA2 giveaway!

Hell yeah. IDKFA for life. -
Did they release Blade Runner? That was Westwood, but was that before or after the acquisition?
-
Yeah. They've got enough cash on hand to buy quite a few other major sports licenses.

Oh wait, I meant this one: http://insider.ign.com/articles/316625p1.html

One of them was just a lame side-scroller and one was that effeminate cartoon thingie. What was the third one?
-
Who could forget? Ever see that effeminate Zelda game? It's hi-larious.

I love me some RTS games, but let's not forget about good ol' turn based gaming. There's some real gems in there, too (like HOMM). I'm pretty sure that's the whole shebang there.

That it is. Herzog pre-dated Dune II, Warcraft and Command & Conquer. It's one of those great, under-appreciated games. This is a good article about all that stuff: http://www.gamespot.com/gamespot/features/all/real_time/

Well yeah, there is...but I think Outlaw Golf 2 winning that award wouldn't have been quite as damning as PoP. OG2 is supposed to be goofy and over the top. PoP is supposed to be taken seriously.
-
Yeah, but it was nominated for a bunch of other stuff (and won a few, too). PoP won "most baditude" which makes sense, I suppose, although I was kinda hoping my game would win. This is the best though: http://www.gamespot.com/gamespot/features/all/bestof2004/day3w_12.html

Moulin Rogue sounds pretty good to me. That movie needed more explosions and blood.

On a similar note, I find this webcomic to be hysterical: http://spamusement.com/ "Poorly-drawn cartoons inspired by actual spam subject lines!"

It's more or less in the center of the city. San Fran's not a totally walkable city like some (such as my beloved new york) but you can get to a lot of the city by walking from Union Square. ...but if you need/want to go to any of the outside parts of town, you're going to need a car of some sort.

That's his lordship Garriot. Romero lived in a mansion, although I seem to recall hearing that his ex-wife got it in their separation. Now he lives in a trailer of love. or something.
-
Genius. (actually, I don't get it either)
