Sure, why wouldn't there be? Foreign film loves, art house cinemas, film festivals, etc...

I just bought Beaterator, Tekken 2, and Legacy of Kain on the PSP. I used to love Tekken 2 back in the day so this is a right blast from the past. That intro video, as corny as it is now (Nina's hair) was so fucking badass back in the day. It brought back so many memories. And the game still looks surprisingly decent. The character designs are a little dated but the game still plays relatively well. Unfortunately I had a hard time pulling off some of the more elaborate moves. I never thought that the d-pad on the PSP was bad, but I must not have played any move intensive games. With this and the recent SF Alpha purchase, I've come to the conclusion that the PSP dpad is shit. Which sucks because this was my only real option for decent fighting game action over here.

No, it's the crappy 80s "commies are coming to get us" movie. But funny enough, Herzog himself recently got bit by the reimagining bug and re-did "Bad Lieutenant." It's pretty decent, from what I've read, despite having Cage and almost nothing to do with the original. But I guess that's Herzog. And "Rescue Dawn" is, in a way, a reworking of his previous film "Little Dieter Needs to Fly."

A part of me thinks that maybe you shouldn't be holding your breath on that one, but who knows? Isn't the new Super Mario Bros Wii coming out soon too?

For once, I have not left something to the last minute and I booked my hotel for the friday a few blocks away from the fest. I think Saturday I'll be trying to mooch a couch off of someone. But that means that I'll be there 95% confirmed now. OssK, when you heading down? Maybe we can take the same train*. * assuming that's how you're getting there.

You forgot Red Dawn, which is a movie so horrible I don't know why anyone would want to revisit it.

This is used to be true. Now it's ass all around! Thanks Adobe!

Not I! *grumble* *grumble*

It certainly has its charms, but the translation of detective/police/crook politics to high school archetypes can be pretty goofy at times and the plot and writing can be a little too self-congratulatory. Still, it's well done, nicely shot, and a nice little attempt at neo-noir. Wish there were more of those.

FACT: when people are hotlinking your images, changing them to a large version of dickbutt gets them to stop real quick. I speak from experience.

I think this should be renamed to the Batman comic panels out of context thread This one's my all-time favourite though

The problem with making a game that has branching narrative and requires multiple playthroughs to fully appreciate is that it has to be interesting enough the first time through to compel the player to go again. Everything I've seen of Heavy Rain has, to this point, come across as nothing but a third-rate made-for-TV thriller. If I'm going to make the commitment to something like that, nothing but videos with a few interactions, I might as well just rent an actual good film (like, say, actual classic de Palma) and just fiddle around with the different audio tracks on the DVD. I'd get a more enjoyable experience, with less time commitment and less cost.

It's good for about the first five seconds before the lyrics kick in... then it's skip, skip, skip. ABOUT FUCKING TIME.

I made a 40 minute chiptune-influenced hiphop/dub mix.

Does Spelunky provided joystick support? Knytt stories? I can't remember. I would think any of the "larger" indie platformers would.

"Crush" is available for $16. If you haven't played it, do so. It's awesome but really at parts. Rockstar's Beaterator is out too but it's $40. Persona, Disgaea, Soul Calibur, and some of the arcade collections (Sega Genesis, SNK, Capcom) are tempting though.

It has made Grand Theft Auto fun. It has introduced me to Left 4 Dead. It has led to numerous fun multiplayer sessions, more fun than against random internet jackasses. It has led to some overpriced sushi in London and some OK fettucini with foie gras in Paris. I look forward to meeting more people in other places over other foods some day. Maybe at the end of October.

I've probably seen it too. I should go back and take a proper picture.
