I'm guessing he meant the advent and popularization of DVDs, which all came at the same time the Matrix came out and the PS2 was out. Guessing.

You forgot Poles. They're having their own troubles with the workings of democracy and with religious conservatism.

Turn it sideways and hold it NES controller style, and then you can press the B and, er, O, buttons normally. I don't think it's designed so that you can alternate between the A and B easily; they're just there for entirely different purposes. Although it's hard to say what and how until you see some actual games making use of them.

Yes, it's better. But the standard is to always develop for one version back (to make up for slow adopters and the like) except when dealing with embeded ads, which generally go two versions back (sometimes even to Flash 5. I recently had to convert some ads that some designer did in Flash 8 because they were lazy and inconsiderate bastards). This is also why the likes of YouTube and Google Video use Flash 7. More accessible. And yes, they (tagworld) missed to install any proper detection because they are also lazy and inconsiderate. Anyway.

Soon they'll be promoting StarCraft players to General. Considering how many StarCraft players there are in Korea, that wouldn't be a surprise.
-
Yes, but there's no reason to use the latest version since, as already proven in this thread, not everyone has it yet. The lack of proper version detection on their part further infuriates the matter.
-
You probably need to update your Flash Player version. The tagworld trailer uses Flash 8 for some unknown reason.

Needs more Neo Geo Pocket.

Yeah, if anything it's for a Revolution service rather than the system itself. Still, apart from the gradients, that logo isn't too bad. I like the implied optical illusionish Cube in there (or, if you look at it another way, not there).

I waited for an announcement. It was delayed. They announced Toronto, had a venue. Then I heard nothing for months. Turns out it was cancelled. But they had a new venue. For real this time. With tickets for sale. So I bought a ticket. Then it was cancelled and I had to commute down to Roy Thompson Hall to get a refund. Now I hear they're trying to announce a new Toronto show. Um. Yeah. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... you can't get fooled again.

http://www.nintendo-europe.com/NOE/en/GB/popups/video.jsp?id=5JIzKiVx5r0Gu_uNPnTPRZMbliXeeJM1&itemDesc=articleLocal∝=articleShared.video&index=1 Trailer for the new Zelda. It looks a lot better than those pictures (same photographer as the guy that photographed Big Foot, I'm guessing). I like the mix of classic 2D with The Wind Waker style. And the Dark World theme.

So I played Metroid Prime Hunters a little bit, in between a lot of Tetris DS sessions. You fly your ship (not directly, it's just an interface) to some planet (and, partly, isn't that the Metroid Prime sequel that we really wanted? Flying around planet to planet collecting bounties? Although instead of bounties, here you're collecting artifacts.) You land. You walk around. You scan things. Some things shoot at you and then you shoot them back. You go through a bit of an annoying jump climb (not too bad, but jumping is the one thing that's harder to do with these controls than anything else). Then you fight a "boss" of sorts in an almost arena deathmatch setting. It's kind of interesting in that it's a change of pace from the standard giant creature bosses of the past. So far it's alright. Nothing amazing, but it is good and it runs smoothly and does control fairly well (though it takes a bit of adjustment.) Doesn't seem like there's going to be as much (if any) sequence breaking -- or just plain old exploration -- so I'm not sure how the single player will stack up. Not great, I imagine. Haven't played multiplayer yet, so I don't know about that. In conclusion: need more time with it.

I can't get into the habit of watching new TV shows. I always get distracted and forget about them and never see them. I just saw my first episode of the US "The Office" last week since the pilot! The only shows that I watch on a regular basis: Daily Show Colbert Report Battlestar Galactica NHL Hockey (Centre Ice) once, though, before the internet... I watched a LOT of TV. I saw all those shitty 90s Fox sitcoms, and those not so horrible (Get a Life, Parker Lewis, Herman's Head). I saw all the various sci-fi shows, from SeaQuest to Earth2 to "Space: Above and Beyond" (now that I watch BSG, I really want to see that show again. BSG reminds me a LOT of S:AaB.) I saw a lot of the Fox after-school cartoons (Batman, Gargoyles). I watch a LOT of TV in the early 90s... and, you know what, I don't miss a lot of it. I know that if I were to watch some of those shows again, my nostalgia will be ruined and I'd realize that they sucked. Hell, I used to watch "Evening at the Improv" at 11pm on A&E. So I'll stick to the my copies of "The Office (UK)" and "Spaced" and "The Newsroom" (CBC show, was great) and "Futurama" and "Babylon 5 (season 3-4)" and be done with it. -- Although, if I were to ruin some of that nostalgia, I'd really like to see some old "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" episodes. I've seen half of a crappy VHS rip once and that's it.

Apparently, the studio is now saying that this isn't the official OFFICIAL trailer. This one is for the tagworld contest and, they claim, the CG is not indicative of the final film. Hmmm.

Ok, I'm done.

I love that guy holding the snake that came down with the oxygen masks, screaming his face off. Awesome.

November launch for PS2. PSP price drop... soon. Go blu-ray!! Go online! Backwards compatability ahoy. Yadda yadda. All the normal stuff that you expect from a Sony gaming announcement: http://www.joystiq.com/2006/03/15/ps3-press-conference-it-begins/ But then Kutarai goes on to say Um, that's great. PS3 games will now be able to display the passage of time? That's... great. http://www.theonion.com/content/node/30990

It was selling well before PA praised it, and either way, they don't have enough pull to push a game to the top of the charts. The whole starforce fiasco came out after it was already selling well. I think it's just the simple matter of a good game slowly getting support and interest. The first game came out around the time the original, more hyped, MOO3 came out. Back then, GC was praised for being everything that MOO3 wasn't. Word of mouth arose. The game sold. Nothing drastic, but it was selling consistently over the months and it garnered a substantial following that was there for the sequel. It's just a good game with a decent following and it's nice to see a title like that succeed for once.

Are you sure about that? It was rare, but if you fought in the final dungeon a lot, you'd sometimes get an Orb drop. I can't remember what my stats were, but I think all my characters were level 99 and most of my weapons were level 9. I had more time on my hands back then... great game though.
-
Well, I think the implication is that if you're a rabbit you're cute and harmless -- which was the whole point since you couldn't do anything unless you had the orb to retain your shape. I think the whole point of TP's transformation is so that you can attack and be more aggressive. In that context, I don't think a rabbit would work. Well, maybe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit_of_Caerbannog But yes. "Link to the Past". I've beaten that game more than all the other Zeldas combined.

So then the likes of Ted Woolsey should be added to the list? He was a part of a team and a number of high profile games wouldn't have been the same without him. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Woolsey
