http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/ There are others, but I like that one.

You've scored 22 points! You're batting 880! Screwed up on Onimusha and Cruis'n USA and something else.

Those screenshots make it look as if the game is a cottage simulator. Needs more Muskoka chairs, though. It surely is a nice environment engine. (Alan) Wake me when it's actually a game.

Well, that's what I meant. A "proper" Halo game. I don't think anyone doubted that the franchise would continue with the oft-used colon in the title.

Yes. And because RTS games work so well on consoles, it is going to be a 360 exclusive.

"Game journos go where the wind blows?" aka console war thread #137
n0wak replied to Marek's topic in Video Gaming
I don't think it's so much the "journalists" or the weblogs, or online media in general, that is responsible (though they don't help matters). I think it's more to do with the nature of the majority of the fanbase. The industry throws around claims that the average gamer is ridiculously () old in an effort to establish itself and make it seem legitimate, but those numbers are bullshit. The majority of the industry still revolves around teenagers. Teenaged boys. And the majority of the buzz and hype still emanates from their greasy pores. Hell, I was one once and I can attest to the fact that I had bad taste and I couldn't keep my mind straight on anything. The study, whose sample is comprised of 16,670 participants between ages six and 44, found that 45 percent of the study’s “heavy gamer” segment and nearly one-third of its “avid console gamer” segment (the largest group in the study) were between the youthful ages of six and 17. The findings contradict the wide belief that the most committed gamers fall in the coveted 18- to 34-year-old male demographic. -

I'm curious as to what this means for the "Guitar Hero" brand. While MTV would now own Harmonix, the creators of that, I think all publishing rights are still owned by Red Octane (who is now owned by Acclaim, a deal they specifically made to get Guitar Hero), so Guitar Hero is becoming this giant corporate ownership orgy. MTV branded Guitar Hero?

Seriously? I don't see how you can call that a "bad game that is good". I had the misfortune of playing this with three other people once. You know how some bad games are actually kind of fun when you play with a few friends? NOT THAT ONE. It was painful.

I can point you to two other forums where this thread has been started

Saw "Science of Sleep". I like Gondry. He does good things. He has great and inventive visuals. His script writing? Needs work. Otherwise, the previous two things!

Screw Due South. If a Paul Gross show is going to be referenced in this thread, it better fucking be Slings and Arrows. ahem.

Hmmm. GRAW starts off their game with the death of the Canadian Prime Minister. Yeah. Alas, Wikipedia is woefully deficient

This seriously is The Year of Sony. Every week, I am baffled by what they say, what they do, what they fuck up, what they hype, what they break, how they advertise, what they back track on, what they copy, and what they say again. Does this company even have PR people? WTF? And I am not just talking about Sony games... their other divisions are not any better, from the whole rootkit debacle to their awesome exploding batteries.

GREAT. Imagine all the money you will save on that console that you will not be able to buy anywhere because the allotment is so shitty, not to mention the fact that this is a price drop on the so-called "tard pack" that, doubly likely, will be available in even smaller numbers than the premium pack. GREAT!

I'm still baffled by this. I mean, the concept is just so bizarre. Frederic Chopin had a dream before he died of some magical Japanese RPG land with turn based battles? Also, according to IGN, Chopin died after World War 2. http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/761/761569.html QUALITY IGN WRITING AT ITS BEST

Um... Rez? Also Okami is out now(ish)

SHAMELESS PLUGGING Those mentioning "The Fountain" should read my above comments and my elaborated "review" of sorts here. Basically, from everyone else that I've talked to that have seen it, I'm in the minority for liking it... and even then, my liking of it is a bit tenuous. And the more ads I see for it (and trailers) the more I'm convinced that one of the major reasons for this is that it is being marketed all wrong.

This makes my eyes bleed. So I'm guessing there's no chance of a cel-shaded Civilization V? Cel-vilization would be awesome. Terrible Trauma Center!

I think it's a stupid article. It ends with Yes. What I've always wanted was online Zelda. Also YES! I demand progressive scan Clu-Clu Land fully online enabled with leaderboards! No wait, I don't care. If anyone played the "online" modes of the classic arcade games on Live, they'd know that it's not exactly a model worth pursuing because nothing makes Frogger more fun than LAG.

People were pretty sure it was getting a European launch this year too

http://forums.idlethumbs.net/showthread.php?t=4476 The new trailer actually moved it up in rank on my wishlist. I like collections of mini games because I like games and I do not have 80 hours to finish them. Similarly, I just saw a movie that was 20 short films strung together. I liked it because the pace kept me from getting bored when one of them sucked.

I'm fairly certain that the DS USB thingie works with the Wii too.

OMG, I just saw "The Fountain" It was... interesting. I think a lot of people are going to dislike it because they'll take it too literally. I think I liked it, but I don't have a massive boner over it. I'm undecided. Great use of sound, though. Very nice Clint Mansell score (again). And some of the visuals are stunning. (POSTEDIT: The more I think about it, the more I like it. Yes, it's one of those kinds of movies.)

http://media.wii.ign.com/media/821/821585/dl_1669212.html I don't care if it's a "bunch of mini-games" (people seem to use that term as derision), it looks awesome. Freaking Sam Fisher rabbits being shot in the face with plungers!
