We should totally schedule a "Gears of Thumb-a-thon". Though I imagine that with all the differing timezones, it might be hard. I'm pretty much available anytime Friday and maybe Saturday afternoon before going away for all that XMas crap.

The balance is mostly fine and the actual act of playing in a multiplayer game is great. The huge problem, I find, is the matchmaking for RANKED matches. Completely broken and archaic. But if you do manage to find a decent server, it really is fun. Hoping that new maps come out soon, though. The same rotation is getting tired already.

I looked through the whole thing. What a shitty list of awards.

I'd like to see you play tennis and golf and bowling in your living room. And they say that flying Wiimotes are a hazard! Besides, for most of the world it's almost winter. I'd also like to see you play tennis in -20 degree weather on a snow drift covered court.

There's a french title called "Vecti": http://www.freegamer.net/ Looks like a cross between "Killer 7" and Renaissance. Unfortunately, the site is fairly sparce about actual gameplay details so I'm wary about spending money on it and there doesn't seem to be a demo but, still... nice aesthetic.

Guitar Hero II (are the song selections localized?)
n0wak replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Nice. My GH1 band was called "Repetitive Stress". -
Yes. There is a big difference between this kind of living forever: and this kind:

World of Stuart is full of shit. And the game has been pulled by the author (infringed, CLEARLY, on Bizarre Creations' IP) so anyone hosting it is doing so against the wishes of the author and Bizarre Creations. Like Stuart here. And if you think that the author didn't mean to copy the game, then you should look at his other "original" titles http://www.incitti.com/Blitz/index.html

Sony continues to simply rock, PS3 delayed again in Europe?
n0wak replied to Kolzig's topic in Video Gaming
Yes. Straight from Sony's mouth. There's no argument anymore. Everything they say is true. I'm sure you all feel relieved to know that it won't be delayed now. http://www.ukresistance.co.uk/uploaded_images/launch2-793224.jpg -
Japan now belongs to Nintendo.

And yes, Colbert is actually a huge geek. The D&D stuff. Lady Nocturne: Alpha Squad Seven, a Tek Jansen Adventure. He freaking had a lightsabre battle with George Lucas on the show! The fact that he's the voice of Reducto on Harvey Birdman. (on second thought, the "Spam Graveyard" should be on the "Dead to Me" board)

I wanted to see this when it was in town, but it was sold out completely. It had MASSIVE buzz though and a lot of positive press at the film festival (could have likely won best picture and not that stupid Death of a President bullshit). Really looking forward to it, but I know I won't likely see it until it hits DVD. In a similar vein, there's Tarsem Singh's "The Fall". Not nearly as positive a reception, but I like those kind of grand visual films (and, well, I just saw "Play Time" for the first time )

I saw it. I liked it. It's not great, but it has its pluses if you approach it from a certain way. Like, for example, not thinking that it's a sci-fi film (about time travel, as the trailers make it out to be). It's really not.

Don't know if sports games are your thing, but the early 94-era EA games were quite good. NHL 94 especially!

Was hoping for something more specific

Is there a place where one could... sample the whole show (just seen that one episode online)? Especially us "across the pond" types. Also, recently watched The Proposition.  So good.

I'm still waiting for Europa Universalis 2 on the DS... which was announced AGES ago.

"at least 2010" means that they will say that but will delay delay delay delay as per usual until it is launched December 12th 2012 (12/12/12) when the combined power of this supercomputer brings about the end of time. The Mayans were onto something.

I used to play ArchMage a hell of a lot back in the day http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archmage_(computer_game) and I mean, like, BACK in the day circa 1998. Started playing it in computer class cause I didn't really have a decent computer at home nor any internet access and it was, really, my first foray into online gaming. Massively mutliplayer, even. When we finally got a computer and internet access at the end of '98, I could finally play it from home! And I did. A LOT. But then I got bored of it and never played a game of its like since -- god knows there have been a large number of them (and many that I saw were obviously influenced by ArchMage). The learning curves for these kinds of games are way too steep unless you are really persistent or have a large posse backing you up as you figure things out. S'why I never bothered with them again. That said, I know a bunch of people that played Travian a lot for a while http://travian.com/

lol, you just found out about this now?

Not to reignite this again, but here's another Zune review http://www.suntimes.com/technology/ihnatko/147048,CST-FIN-Andy23.article

And this unlike the other two Super Monkey Balls how? Reviews are reviews. Gerstman likes "The Fast and the Furious" so, really, I take anything he says with a grain of salt. But that's fine. What is horrendous, though, is that thread you linked. :frusty:

It's more comparable to the iPod Nano than the iPod and Zune proper. 4GB Nano = $229.00 USD. 4GB Sansa == I bought for $170. CAD! Bargain to me. What? You want tons more space and really high quality video playback? AWESOME. Let's go to the Zune marketplace and buy some... oh wait, THERE ARE NONE. Want automatic podcast support? Can't have it. Christ. Brainwashed? There are a lot of brainwashed people out there then http://db.tidbits.com/article/8751 http://www.medialoper.com/hot-topics/music/zunes-big-innovation-viral-drm/ http://db.tidbits.com/article/8750 http://ptech.wsj.com/archive/ptech-20061109.html http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2059039,00.asp These guys are obviously such morons that don't know what they're talking about. Dvorak? Mossberg? Never heard of them. To summarize: you buy a Zune and put all your own LEGAL music on it -- Universal gets a portion of your money. AWESOME. Microsoft points in the Zune Marketplace -- everyone loves those on XBox. AWESOME. Wi-Fi enabled! Except not. Even you admit that the possible killer feature is useless. It's not useless because of the tech. It's useless because of the DRM BS. AWESOME. Want to share your CC-licensed music with another Zune? Sure. Except for that fact that doing so ESSENTIALLY VIOLATES THE CC AGREEMENT. Awesome. License agreements required for people to review the device? AWESOME Doesn't play PlaysForSure despite Microsoft pushing it hard for years as an alternative to that evil closed system that Apple had going (which they now compied with Zune's DRM). AWESOME Look, I'm sure that when it comes to actually playing music, functionally it is good. Quite good. But there are a lot of functionally good players out there that don't bury it under mounds of bullshit. Yes. They need to install the Zune software. There are restrictions on being a guest. There is a limit to the number of Zunes I can do this on. It does sound fucked to me. My Sandisk. I can connect to ANY computer with a USB connection and drag and drop ANY mp3s into it without having to install anything. AWESOME.
